I'm headed to the Philippines from the US.
Do I need to show a proof of a return flight ticket out of the country when I land? Or do they just stamp your passport and let you in?
I just got back in Jan. I am not hundred per cent sure it always go like this, but I had to buy a return ticket to get there. I couldn't purchase one way from United and was told it was required.
Leaf here, they asked for my ticket out of the country.
Yes, you currently need to have proof of a return flight.

You typically need to show it to the airline staff at your boarding gate before you leave--that stuff is almost always enforced before departure. Easier to not let you on the plane than to detain and deport you when you're already there.
I think the real question is what were you guys doing in Philippines ?

I've heard of people on here talk about a service called Fly Onward. Apparently it's legit, though I've never used it.
OP here
American check-in counter asked for a return flight ticket. They almost didn't let me get my boarding pass. I had to book a flight right there on my cell phone, then canceled it when I landed. Phils immigration didn't ask for it, they just stamped my passport and let me in. It was probably the quickest immigration process I've ever been through
