I'd love to learn to sail and one day sail around Europe and maybe beyond, or even the Caribbean.
Any tips on getting started with sailing (I'm in the UK)? Sailing stories and experiences would also be appreciated, I'm pretty caught up in the romance of it all at the moment.

Join your local sailing club, practice whenever you can and get advice from the experienced. Once you're skilled and sensible enough, you can start going on longer journeys.

Over here in "The Big 'M," we have things like YMCAs that, when there is water nearby, often have sailing lessons available, as a place to start. Presumably you heathen furrners have something similar.
Good luck with it, I've found sailing around on the ocean a remarkably enjoyable way to spend time.

This has been my dream for years anon. I hope to build a smaller catamaran. I lived in a RV 38 foot Motorhome for 3 1/2 years. I loved the minimalist lifestyle. I hope a boat the same size would have just a little more room for long term comfort. >>1214332
This anon knows whats up. Granted I've only met two, but both of them say this and plumbing, electrical, learning to be a miser on resources, tricks for comfort, safety, and cleanliness, etc.
