I'm visiting Barcelona tomorrow. What do? The information online is pretty overwhelming. Can I just wander around town and see most of the sights that way? I already booked the tickets for the Sagrada Familia. Anything else?
BCN thread
Barcelona is a pretty easy city to get around. The area around the Ramblas and Gothic Quarter is really walkable (but easy to get lost in). You'll need transit to Sagrada probably. How long are you going to be there?

Three nights. I don't really like having a strict itinerary but I have one full day planned to visit the Sagrada and the Gaudi stuff in Eixample. One night I'll probably go out too, rest will be spent just wandering around and taking in the city which is what I love most.

Buy a 10-travel subway ticket and have fun.

The Sagrada is amazing. The rest of Gaudi's stuff is just kinda meh to me but art is subjective. A full day of it wouldn't be my idea of a good time but to each their own.
Barcelona is a great city to wander in...especially the Gothic Quarter. Lots of winding streets without cars. Lots of little tapas bars and restaurants. People are mostly cool. One bit of advice...avoid Montjuic unless you are really, really in to history. It's pretty boring and out of the way.

Avoid Las Ramblas... The only place I HAVE EVER BEEN ROBBED-- and that includes Cairo, Nairobi, Johannesburg and Mumbai!
Barcelona is crawling with pickpockets and the occasional violent mugger.

That's good to hear Anon. I'll keep the Gothic Quarter in mind.

I know about the pickpockets. But this is February so I can probably pass as a local. Never been pickpocketed in my life, although the most "dangerous" place I've ever been to was Rome which is also supposed to be a pickpocket capital.

Also clarify that those pickpocketers are moors and gypsies
