Travel fuck ups thread.

I just booked a flight for me and my mate to Portugal and then we both realised neither of us can do the dates we agreed on for various reasons. Can't get a refund with the airline,
We'll just have to book a new trip from scratch or not go altogether.

Feeling pretty stupid right now. Make me feel better by telling me your travel fuckups /trv/
>>
In Japan on my last night, decided to go check out Roppongi (to get l8id). I didn't and it sucked. The next morning missed my return flight and had to buy a whole new ticket.

Went back to Osaka as my JR pass was still valid and BOOM! Got hit by norovirus. Vomiting and shitting for two days str8.

In hindsight, I was lucky cause in the plane I would have shat myself probablly.

So yeah, there ya go OP!
>>
My fuck up was going to the shithole known as Israel.

During my trip to Istanbul last year I got lost, could not find my hotel, spent four hours frantically calling random people trying to get them to help me out through google maps in vain. I wasted so much fucking money on that alone, about 200 euros as I do not have a foreign plan as I normally only communicate through wifi when I am abroad. Then I wasted about 40 bucks on a sketchy taxidriver trying to swindle me with succes. (The hotel was literally right next to the spot I hailed him I later found out. He just took a massive detour). Two days later I lost my bankpass and was completely broke. I had to live off like 5 bucks for an entire day. (Actually a really sobering experience).
Eventually my mom transferred some money through Western Global so I could actually do shit. Then I nearly got killed in a terror boming the next day. To top it all off I missed my flight back home because I am a dumbass, also not refundable, and had to buy a new ticket which cost me another additional 200 bucks and I had to spend nearly 10 hours in some shitty, overcrowded airport. What an absolute clusterfuck. The city itself was pretty cool though. Shit happens. Cheer up, OP.
>>
>>1206156
That does me make me feel better. Thank you anon. At least I'm not vomiting and shitting myself
>>
>>1206161
Jesus. I lost at
>Then I nearly got killed in a terror bombing

You reminded me of my time in Marrakesh actually.
>Got lost as fuck too
>battery running dangerously low on phone (but couldn't find a wifi hotspot so it was useless anyway)
>considered using data which would have been super expensive
>didn't even work
>wandered into the market and was literally in there for over an hour before i could find my way out again
>its seriously a fucking labyrinth
>later had my cards cloned and couldn't use my money
>had to make calls to my bank from abroad which was more expense
Only difference is I met a really chill taxi driver and we had a full on conversation for 30 minutes even though he didn't speak a word of english and i dont speak a word of arabic
>>
>>1206169
The expensive phone bill I got was actually a combination of me calling people for help, using data that did not work like it should, calling my bank to sort out the business with my bankpass and finally calling worried people to tell them I was okay after the attack.
>>
>>1206140
My story isn't so bad since it was a business trip, so I didn't waste my own money, but still embarrassing and unnecessary.

>On a business trip to Canada I missed my flight there for absolutely no reason except negligence. Have to buy another ticket.
>Have to tell my boss and client in Canada "woops tomorrow heeeeh".
>Get off my flight next day, forget about the labor law in Canada and thing boss told me to say, and tell border agent wrong thing. End up spending 3 hours talking to a border agent before he finally just lets me go.

Doesn't sound so bad as i type it, but it felt humiliating at the time.
>>
Bumping for OP. I want more stories.
>>
>>1206161
How do people even get lost so badly?
Zero sense of direction? Do you not keep track of where you are? Do you lack any photographic memory and can't recreate the route you used? Cities have so many landmarks and signs around it's really easy to orient yourself.

Not even trying to offend, I'm just genuinely curious since I've never had any trouble.
>>
>>1206437
Not him, but I'd say it just comes down to yeah, zero sense of direction and lack of a conscious effort to remember where you came from, where you've been, etc. It's something I've recently been trying to improve in myself, since I can go into a new neighborhood to drop a friend off or something and be struck driving around it for like 15 minutes before finding my way out. If I make an actual effort to remember where I've passed and such, then I'm good, but I usually just space it, and that's what fucks me.
>>
>>1206140
If its within 24 hours, most airlines allow cancellation for full refund regardless of ticket. Otherwise, keep an eye on the flight. If equipment change or significant changes to departure/arrival happen, airline should allow you to rebook with no penalty.
>>
On a three-turned-five day stay in Krakow, the four following things happened, independent of each other mind you:
>my wallet with about 200$ got stolen from my hostel room
>my ticket to Auschwitz got stolen, don't remember how much it cost but I think it was like 20-30$
>I got food poisoned
>Someone stole my bank card and somehow managed to withdraw close to 1200$ from it before I could block it

I was in the middle of a backpacking trip, and had to get my bank to transfer emergency cash to me via Western Union to keep on going. Later the bank would refund all my stolen money, but holy fuck it felt like shit then.
>>
>>1206437
Souqs and medinas are also notorious for this. It's part of the charm, but not when you have shit to do.
>>
>>1206437
I am the Istanbul guy. I am actually really good at directions, just didn't prepare enough this instance. I really underestimated the sheer ammount of backstreets and side alleys.
>>
went to HK and left my phone on a taxi on day two.

I didnt bring a computer either so I depended on subway public PCs and some dodgy internet rental place in the chunking mansion.

Not bad like all of yours but still a little stressful for my first time overseas, and with little planning.
>>
>>1206946
also, I took a picture of the taxi dashboard because im /p/hoto man. called the taxi place and the police station and the taxi driver denied having my phone.

the shit part is i didnt have phone password protected so he had access to my gmail, facebook, and other chat applications. I was worried hed try and scam my family or friends using my phone to impersonate me.
>>
>>1206437
I get lost virtually every time I wander a city in a foreign country. Part of the fun. I never had an emergency, but I did get amazingly lost in Paris with a dead phone once. When I finally found my hostel, I was exhausted and relived. (I had rented a bicycle.) It was hard to even figure out which way was north (for example) because the sun wasn't out, and those streets can be maddening.
>>
>>1206946
>Not bad like all of yours
Sounds terrible actually. Don't know what I'd do without my phone in a foreign land
>>
>>1207031
i had all my hotel shit printed out so it wasn't the worst. but the shitty part was I didn't go out and adventure at night all that much because i was a coward and afraid to get lost without a wifi device.
>>
Please. You get lost without a map or working phone. What to do? Stop tiring yourself out walking aimlessly and STOP AND ASK A LOCAL.
Even if their English is poor they will make an effort to find someone who can speak English to help you. Are you all autists to not just ask for help?
>>
>>1207223
Who says we don't ask for help? I'm the Marrakesh guy from above and I did stop and ask a police man. I just didn't include it in my greentext because this is a travel fuckups thread, not a list every insignificant detail of your trip thread
>>
Just got in a motorcycle accident in Bali. Of course since I'm the tourist it's my fault.
And when you look in the Lonely Planet guide's section about motorbikes, in event of an accident it recommends "don't get involved in one to begin with."
>>
>sat in Schipol Airport on my own waiting for gate to be announced trip back to UK
>time is getting awfully close to TO
>ask around. no one knows
>gate number finally shows up
>head that way only to discover huge queue for security check
>shitting myself the entire time in the queue thinking Ive missed my flight
luckily made it, but yeah. What an idiot I was not thinking about security check before the gate (which is common in EU airports)
>>
>>1207260
>not doing security and then waiting in the departure lounge for your gate number
It's like that in almost EVERY major airport, dude
>>
>>1207231
Istanbully dude here. Exactly. And not everybody knows every single location in the city, even if they live here. Do you know every single streetname in your town or city? It is even less unlikely if you are visiting a sprawling metropolis as Istanbul. But yeah, I did ask for directions first.
>>
Left my backpack in the front seat of my rental car in LA for 5 minutes while I went back inside my hotel.

Car got broken into, backpack stolen.
>>
>>1208317
Then there is the possibilty they could guide you to their location with google maps or something, but unfortunately most people will not waste their valueable time on some random stranger. This is why hostels and hotels often have airport shuttles, but I think it is a waste of money. (If you don't fuck up)
>>
>>1206161
Holy shit. That sounds like one hell of a ride.
>>
>>1206140
Booked a hotel room in Paris for 3 days, but booked one day too early because I forgot about time zone and date change when traveling from the US to France.

Rented a car for wrong dates. Realized it only when I was already at the place. Had to pay triple of what I originally paid and couldn't get my money back for the original reservation.
>>

Norwegian bank (I'm Norwegian), you probably haven't heard of it. When I got back home it was surprisingly easy. Krakow is a popular destination for Scandis to go and get shitfaced and do stupid stuff, so I was pretty sure they wouldn't believe my story, but they just said "ok". I filled out a form, they took a small sum from my refund as a fee (don't know the English word for it), and that was it. Took a few weeks from I filed the complaint until I had the money back in my account.

Fell in love too fast. Wew lad, does this suck.

Just so happened to meet the coolest woman I've ever bumped into in my (then) 22 years in Langkawi in Malaysia, who explored the island with me and was a brilliant companion and conversationalist. Was hotter than any girl I've looked at where I'm from. She probably sensed I was 4ish years younger than her. Didn't see her inexplicably for a few days and then her charm hardened, brought up an oz boyfriend, potentially real, potentially not. I tried to hang out with her that night but drank myself sick, stumbled home with a tepid 'night' and passed out. This was at the beginning of my trip before my tolerance was vastly adjusted by british and australian lads. My body was distraught from the amount I drank in that I woke up at 5am to the tortuous heat and just took a cab without saying anything to anyone to the ferry terminal. I caught a ferry to fucking anywhere.

Then I realized once it was too late I left my phone, password-less somewhere at the hostel with a bunch of really cringey phone notes, poetry and such from the last year of my life. There was definitely some diary-type shit about her in there and how I was anxious from just breaking up with my once-ever love and how this was a special time in my life. It was starry eyed and romantic and positively pitiful. I feel I left the phone in an obvious place and it found her.... I still cringe, and have learned my lesson-
don't fall in love too fast and value myself more than thinking I need anyone's approval

This kinda reminds me of when I went to Paris on a school trip. I was the only person in my group of 6 classmates who had any sense of direction. Instead of doing any of the shit I wanted to do I basically had to play the chaperone and follow them around to all their stupid little bookstores and shit they wanted to go to so I could correct them when they would start walking in the total wrong direction. In hindsight I wish I had left them behind, went my own way, and met back up later with the excuse that I got separated and was lost. (going it alone was highly forbidden by the rules of the school trip)

Hong Kong:
>took a really shitty camera with me
>brought only one battery
>my phone took better pictures than my camera

>went to the Tai O fishing village
>there are three different people offering boat rides
>accidentally took the boat that takes you to the hotel
>meant to take the boat that takes you out to the sea to go dolphin-watching

>went to Ocean Park & Disneyland, but went on very few rides

>on my last night, I stuffed myself full in my hotel room with beer & snacks that I bought from 7-Eleven; ruined a perfect opportunity to finish the night with a dim sum dinner

>went in 2016; there were many places that I wanted to check out, but they were under construction until 2017/2018
Don't get me wrong, I fucking loved Hong Kong and I'll go back again someday. I can only imagine my next trip will be better.

I studied French for 12 years, and none of my teachers bothered to teach me that distinction.

>addressed my own teachers with "tu"
>this would be a terrible thing to do in any French-speaking country, but they let it slide
>it wasn't until the 12th grade that I questioned why a character in a book was addressing a single person with "vous," which is typically used to address multiple people
>it was then that I was FINALLY taught the distinction

tl;dr it's like saying "omae" instead of "anata" in Japanese
>>
>>1207231
>>1208317
Did you ask multiple people? Cause that is the way to do it.
>>
>>1208935
The fuck dude, that's a pretty basic part of the language, how did that escape your notice for 12 years?
>>
>>1208963
Again, my teachers didn't bother to teach the difference until my final year. Second-person singular was always tu/toi/ton in my French class. I didn't notice it until I thought something felt off in a book that I read in my final year, and before that, none of my teachers ever considered correcting me or any of my classmates. We somehow got away with using "tu" on all our teachers and even the principal without being called out on it.

What's incredibly sad is that French is an official language in my country, albeit mostly on the east side.
>>
I made a ton of mistakes, don't worry OP, it happens.

One of them was....
>meet awesome cool people at hostel in Brussels
>go out for drinks
>13% yummy Delirium beers
>underestimate how strong they are, get absolutely fucking wasted
>genetically predisposed to easily blacking/browning out, brain stops making memories
>after we exit the bar, we go to buy frites, but drunk-me (unconscious, I was told after the incident) wanders off from the group and gets lost in Brussels absolutely wasted
>btw this happened when I was 18, I'm a female
>sober up a little, some random dude who doesn't speak very good English is trying to take me back to his place
>I start crying because I have no memory of where I am and how I got there
> he panics, I panic, he throws me out into the street (I think we were in his apt lobby or something)
>I go into a hotel and I'm sobbing and tell them I'm really lost
>they call me a cab and I show the cabbie my hostel keycard with address on it, I sob the whole way
>get here, only have like 4 euros left, it was a pretty long drive, I ended up on the other side of town
>he lets me go for free, probably out of pity bc I was crying and looked terrified
>I get back to my hostel at around 4 AM, climb into someone else's bed

Looking back, it was a really fucking dangerous situation....

Went overseas to New Zealand and stayed in the one city. I got sick of being 24 and never having travelled so I bought a ticket. Fuck all planning I did a few tours in the one city and saw the international rugby but I met 2 separate backpacker (Germans) and some awesome thru hikers (yanks) and each time they ask me when I've been and i answered just the one city they'd miss a beat like "what the fuck there's so much shit to see and this retard stayed in one area". >take off my jacket, backpack, put it through the xray

>oh fuck this is going to be bad
>Security calls La policia over
>oh fuck this is going to be really bad
>La policia escort me to their station in the airport
>good bye, freedom!

Amazingly, the police were very understanding and didn't shake me down for bribes, rape my anus, or do anything else unsavory. The one I spoke to was perfectly fluent in English, and after a short round of questioning, showing him pictures of us at the range, my PBA card, and my friend in uniform, we just bullshit with me for a bit. Turns out he had done the same thing himself once, he left a loaded magazine in his backpack when he was flying through Medellin (after getting sent to fight narcoguerillas in the jungle) and totally understood the mistake.
Avianca canceled my flight and wouldn't let me back on the same one, then made me pay $200 to rebook onto the next flight - but at least Avianca sent a QT bilingual stewardess to help me with the cops though

I'm also 99% sure I'm on a Colombian watchlist now, since airport security "randomly" selected me for a security check at the gate when I was boarding and swabbed all my shit for residue, and broke into my checked bag and took one of my bottles of rum.

I got lost in Istanbul too. I was with my gf at the time and we decided to just go out and explore the city - we figured we would just catch a cab home.

Totally lost track of time and ended up in some residential-looking part of the city, no cabs in sight and neither of our phones working. It was getting dark and we were starting to panic. We passed some group of guys and one happened to speak very broken English. We explained our situation hoping they could call us a cab but the guy just kept shaking his head saying "I have car, I take you"

My gf and I both knew this was a totally fucking retarded idea but we didn't really see any alternatives, so we agreed. I rode in the front seat just in case and was waiting any second for him to pull a knife or turn into some alley with a bunch of guys waiting to rob and rape us. Turns out he was just an honest stand-up guy and he simply drove us to our hostel and dropped us off with a friendly wave. We totally lucked out

I suppose you mean unofficial. I've heard loads but I never take any taxis (of whatever form) or any paid transport because I am a realtravelerTM
They literally walked past a regular group of normal guys hanging out in the early evening.
I mean did they look sketchy? Were they dirty and loutish? None of that is intimated in the post. Just normal guys.

I have taken literally hundreds of free rides from normal people and the worst that ever happened is that one or two faggots started touching me and stopped once they understood they would get a smack if they kept that crap up.

If you walk around thinking everyone is out to get you it must be pretty miserable to travel.

Hitchhiked from the Canadian east coast to the West Coast.

Travelling with hot female friend, i' male. 24 at the time.

After spending 7 days on the road with a German guy who lived out of his van, we end up around Banff. Spend some time there with German dude, few days later, bounce and get picked up by random people for short rides. Inidan trucker picks up and drops us near Salmon Arm, BC.

Wander for hours on dirty shit tier roads. Night coming soon. Fucking dont feel like camping out on the side of the road in the redneck part of BC.

Hick big busted pickup with no exhaust pipes zips next me and my friend, hardcore black metal pounding. 3 kids in the car. Must be sixteen at most, not even old enough to drive.

They come back, offer to pick us up. Car has no license.

>>>mfw my friend says yes, kiddos all eyeballin' the goodies.

End up spending the evening driking home made moonshine with 14 year olds and putting our stuff in an abandoned mobile home they know of. Offer us to take the party to "the mountain", where they burn pallets they steal from a warehouse, and do more drugs.

>>>mfw friend says yes.

We end up there, like 20 kids, oldest not even 18 and legal age in BC is like 19. We buy booze for them at corner store in town. Smoke weed etc. End up being time to go home.

Driver drives us drunk, downhill, on a dirt road. His car has no headlights cause its modded for rallies or whatever he tells us. We are 7 in his car. My frind is sitting on my lap, her head popping through the sunroof. We are cramped.

>>>its a 5 seater 2 door busted sedan.

Driver looses control doing like 100 km/h, tail spin and all, luckily avoids the ditch which is basically falling off cliff.

He gets his bearings, my friend is terrified, other kid puked. I insist that I will beat the shit out of him if he doesnt hand the wheel to his GF who is not as fucked up as him.

GF crashes us in a tree minutes later.

>>>1/2 CONT
>>
>>1211275

>not driving his v8 home yourself.
faggot, absolutely.
>>
>>1211275

2/2 CONT
My friend avoids decapitation as she was looking for tissues, her head bent from the sun roof.

Other kid pukes himself.

No air bags, rallye car. No one hurt, by some fucking miracle. Car still running.

I get out, force my friend out. We walk to the mobile home. Get lost eventually make it. The other kids just keep going with the now crashed up car.

Sleep in disgusting abandoned trailer house filled witch feces and all. Happy i brought garbage bags to make a shell for my sleeping bag.

Next morning, no sign of the kids. We start packing. Friend doesnt remember shit, just has terrible neckpain.

Walk from this shit part of town to a junction, takes us 2hr. Get picked up quickly by family going on vacation in a camper,. They take us almost all the way to our destination, Oliver, BC

We look got work picking cherries. Friend goes weird on me and decide to split up. I dont care, made new friends the next day and found a job. Spent 1 month picking cherries, smoking and camping in the okanagan valley.

Met German chick, slept with her a few times, hitchhiked to Vancouver. Moved back to my native montreal on time for my parents wedding, she flew from BC to visit. Two weeks later, her and my best friend were travelling across ireland and scotland.

I then moved to Germany for 1 year, but i was in the south and she was in berlin. We kept seeing each other and eventually just stayed friends.

>>>And now im like, wtf am i doing home typing this instead of livin' shit.

Mind you on our way to vancouver one of our rides got creepy with german chick, we got off his truck in the middle of the road at night, and i realized later fucker had stolen my wallet.

Proceeded to find the guy through his plate (i take pics of all plates that i ride with) and found what company he worked for, called him at work and blackmailed him into getting my wallet back. Missing a credit card and my cash from cherry picking for a month. Fuck you randy.

In Southern Laos, I hit a dog while driving a motorbike at 60-70kmph.
Result : my clavicle broken, some good road burns and a dead dog.
I hitchhiked to the local dispensary where I got some bandages and a simple sling which quickly got infected. It then took me 3 days to get to the closest decent hospital in Phnom Penh (couldn't go elsewhere as it was either further or out of reach due to visa) where a dude who called himself "Doctor Nice" scrapped all the infected flesh and some remnants of the bitumen/dirt off my back. Wasn't pleasant.

I had to take buses shirtless due to the burns, much to the delight of the fellow Lao passengers who were very intrigued. Aa hobo monk blew on the burns for a good hour while I was stuck in Pakse bus station.

I had a revenge though. The dog was taken to be eaten by locals when I made it meet its maker, apparently.

Oh, this kind of tourist. The same who feel sincerly great saying heil hitler to greet random german people. Did you forget minors should travel accompanied with an adult to prevent them to do stupid things?

We didn't go there for the sole reason to piss people off. We were just shit talking about him, cynically calling him a murderous warlord and what and got alot of nasty looks for it. We didn't go to too far.

What are they going to do? Take their stuff? Fine them? Send them to jail which only costs the state more money? It's hard to punish people who have almost nothing and no real nationality. Ofcourse this doesn't make it less revolting.

Welcome to Naples
>>
>Back in 2013
>Visit Prague with a good friend
>Drunk and just wandering the streets at night
>Get lulled into going to some shady strip club
>It's in some worn down looking appartment building, all the way up in the attic
>Instantly feel the bad vibes
>Feels like a haunted house
>Door gets locked behind us
>The strippers have these soulless eyes and there is literally no one there but us
>Just one pole in the middle of the room, not even a stage
>Get a free drink on the house
>It's a miniscule shot of vodka
>Fuck it. Might aswell enjoy myself
>Chat up with one of the girls
>It's super awkward and clear she doesn't want to be there
>Bouncer/pimp insists I buy her a drink
>She wants champagne
>Pay like 40 bucks for a small, shitty bottle that's only good for two glasses
>Bouncer dude is getting rather pushy and verbally aggresive because he wants more money
>Buy more
>More complaining
>This is obviously a shakedown of some sort
>Pretend I'm out of money and need to go to a ATM so we can get the fuck out of there
>Say that my friend should come with me because I "forgot" where the ATM is
>He is super drunk and oblivious to it all
>They try to make him stay
>Flat out tell him to get the the fuck out of there in Dutch and why
>He finally understands me and agrees
>Bouncer dude and stripper inmediately demand of me to say what I just said in English
>We get to leave eventually
>Bouncer dude was stalking us the rest of the night throughout the city.

We are both tall and brawny, but that night was one of the few nights I somewhat feared for my safety.
It turned out my friend blew nearly 300 bucks on shitty drinks while I was distracted by my own stripper girl.
While we walked out this solo American walked in, I almost felt sorry for the guy.
It seems the only legit strip joint in Prague is Hot Peppers, but I wouldn't particularly recommend that one aswell.

>see 2,99€ flight to romania from ryanair
>book and fly out a few days later
>arrive in timisoara
>first day is excellent, nice people and great hostel
>meet some cool travelers
>everyone is going to belgrade
>i ride along for a day trip and ride back at night
>few hours in belgrade were amazing
>get back to timisoara at 23:45 planning for bed
>room of 8 was empty except for some 50+ year old canadian
>says the whole hostel went out to drink, invites me
>meh whatever decide to go
>start heading out cant find them
>turns out he's a weirdo and they gave him fake directions
>end up bar hopping with him and some austrian guy
>canadian guy is kicked out after hitting on questionable aged girls
>me and austro guy get invited by locals to drink with them
>go to a closed bar with 10-15 locals, cool people, broken english
>say everything for us is on the house
>beer, jäger, beer, jäger, beer, jäger etc in that order
>eventually get drunk and stager home with the austrian
>brush my teeth, make it in bed without problem, think all has ended
>sleep 2 hours
>wake up
>puke off the side of the bunk bed, wake everyone up
>pass back out
>wake up later, fall out of bed and run to the bathroom across the lobby of the hostel
>in my undies puking in my hands dripping along the way
>make it to toilet, need to diarhea and puke all over the closed seat
>rotten kebab coming up
>run to shower room across the other side of the lobby
>someone is showering but barge in and stick my head under the sink
>pass out and wake up later with the sink pouring on my face
>showering person is gone so its been a while
>go back to my room
>all my puke is cleaned up
>"theres that motherfucker"
>hop in bed and face the wall hiding under the covers
>"someone take that fucker's shit"
>give the receptionist a 50€ and check out
>wait at the airport in thr corner for 12 hours in shame
Never felt so bad in my life before

What
Did you not go to the city centre at all? There's like six large strip clubs that are safe
>>
>>1214632
I did. Hot Pepper's is one of them. This one was near the square with the old mechanical clock
>>
>>1213685

This isn't so much a travel for leisure story but, here goes:
>Escape facility that I had been lodged at
>get chased on foot for a little while as I am recognized at nearest town
>escape into the treeline, find some RR tracks
>walk for 14 hours along RR tracks (taking breaks to sleep in the middle of the day because it's July and hot as fuck and I had no water)
>have a map that I took with me, so I know where I'm going
>drink water from a garden hose outside of someone's house at like 2 in the morning
>find train depot
>find road
>hitchhike to nearest big city
>get gas station sandwich
>take taxi to bus terminal
>take bus to next biggest city
>arrive in mid morning in very large, very grungy bus terminal
>feel sick
>start blasting out both ends, very bad food poisoning
>trying to stay hydrated, a bit delirious, trying to get a hotel room
>some dude convinces me to give him a $100 to make some sort of sale (I don't remember his scam, but I was pretty fucked up at the time)
>he runs off with my money
>eventually get a hotel room and make my way hop another bus home in the morning
It was a shitty couple of days. This happened in the Southern United States
>>
>>1215313
You "escaped" from a "facility" that you were "lodged" at, and it was bad enough that you were being chased? And this happened in America?

What the fuck was going on? I can only think that you either broke out of prison or you were trying to avoid deportation.
>>
>in my hotel room
>wake up much later than usual
>get woken up by sounds coming from next door
>can hear everything
>toilet flushing, showers, the sound of their TV, etc.
>there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of the above
>I never really noticed how audible everything was, on account of being outside most of the time

>here's the real problem: if I can hear them, they can probably hear me
>I've done some pretty awful things in my hotel room at night
>watched TV with the volume up pretty high
>yelled the word "nigger" to myself a lot (because I'm immature and I think it's a funny word)
>got drunk with the beer that I bought at 7-Eleven (which made me yell "nigger" even more)
>made commentary to myself while taking a shit
>watched some tasteless YouTube videos on my phone with the volume turned up (Alex Jones, Filthy Frank, really edgy/cringy YLYL videos, etc.)
>for the record, I don't actually believe anything Alex Jones says, I just think he's really funny
>quoted some of these videos out loud
>holy shit I was an asshole in hindsight
>whoever had their room next to mine was probably trying to sleep, but there I was, drunk and quoting Alex Jones while shouting "nigger"
Whoever was in that room was a good sport. Not once did they complain to me or reception about my behavior.

>got drunk with the beer that I bought at 7-Eleven (which made me yell "nigger" even more)

Ah yes, the old get drunk/high and shout the word 'nigger' routine. I am quite familiar with this.

More of a 'worst holiday every' than a simple fuckup.

Went to Cyprus for the Millennium celebrations. Turns out it was off season, everything was closed.

31st comes along, stuck with shitty hotel entertainment to celebrate. They ring in the new millennium 30 minutes early for some inexplicable reason. I went back to my hotel room and watched on TV all the other countries that had amazing celebrations going on.

Dad caught the flu but was dragged along to see some shitty ruins by my mum who thought he was just sulking and she was pissed off with him (they got divorced the next year). The rest of us all caught the flu on the way back (half the plane had it so we were doomed), literally couldn't get out of bed to go to school.
