Hello guys, I wanted to know which cities are worth visiting in Germany. I don't know much about this country. I'm planning a road trip and we're probably coming from Amsterdam, visit Germany and then go to Copenhagen.
Should I go to cologne before going to Hamburg ? Any cities around worth going to ?
When are you going? Cologne is awesome during the carnival in February.

I'm planning to go there in May
Dresden is great if you are interested in nice architecture. Also cool bar district (Neustadt).

We're not gonna stay a lot of time in each cities, we're travelling mainly for the architecture, see beautiful monuments, landscape and meet nice people

Looks like Hamburg is halfway between Amsterdam and Copenhagen.
Awesome city. Just looked at it's wikipedia page and remembered my 2 days in 2014.
Check out the town hall and Alster lake(?). Old warehouse district called speicherstatt (now a world heritagte site apparently), the new opera house, We also made a sight seeing tour on a ferry (elbe river), which was included in our public transport day pass.
Got a good nightlife too.

Fischmarkt (fish market)

Elbphilharmonie (new opera house)
Maybe you like to visit a smaller charming German town. Lübeck is between Hamburg and Copenhagen. It's a good place to see some typical northern German architecture.
Hey germanbros. I'm wavering between choosing a conference in Freiburg or Paris in the same time. I got a bit tired of the latter, and I'm curious about what can you tell me about Freiburg.

Kek, are all smaller German towns looking basically same?

Freiburg is a small mostly student/university city.
I would call it a larger village that made it to a city with some ok tier sights, awesome nature/hikes surrounding it, good restaurants and comfy bars.
Nothing outstanding but still pretty cool and not overrun.

Yeah, that's what I expected, cool.
I've always heard great things about Munich. Has it changed?
>>1205401
No, but many share features like a skyline dominated by church towers.

The Walhalla, which is close to Regensburg, was pretty neat.
