I am going to KSA for three weeks for work. We will be spending weekends in Bahrain.
Trying to get an idea of do's and don'ts with local culture, good restaurants or foods to try, historical sites to visit, etc.
In Bahrain, where to go for fun?

What do you like to do for fun. I can answer any questions on Bahrain. I used to be an expat living there.
Do you want high class bar, live music, hip hop club, hookah bar (referred to a shisha locally), a hooker bar, coffee shop? Where to eat? Good restaurants or local food? Do you want to see tourist shit? Do you want to shop? Souq (Bazaar) or mall?

Hey thanks for reply
In Bahrain:
- Good restaurants (local cuisine)
- Pubs with craft beer
- Shisha bars
- Hooker bars
- Touristy stuff to check out
- Bazaars for local nick nacks
Thanks!

I am at work. East Coast USA time, but I will break down some things for you, from my experience. Mind you I was an expat there in 2014, and last there in December 2015 for a couple of weeks for my ex-GFs birthday. So you know how recent the info I provide is. That said I do still keep in contact with a lot of people that live there.

Sure thanks, any information is fine.
>>1204890
Cool. I just wanted to make sure you'd be back to check, which is why I didn't say maore yesterday. Didn't want to waste my time. Because of how slow the board is anons often lost questions, never to return before it can get answered

Completely understand -- and no worries, I will definitely read your suggestions and reply back. Thanks.

>- Good restaurants (local cuisine)
If you are looking at local cuisine, as far as good ethnic food and local restaurants, there are aplenty. BUt the best restaurants aren't the Arabic ones. Due to the high South and SEA population there are excellent Thai and Indian restaurants.. There is Arabic food, too don't get me wrong. Fortunately, Adliya neighborhood is a one stop for it, all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adliya
For street food,Osama bin Zaid Avenue, in Adliya, better known as "Shawarma Alley" is the place to go. People buying schwarma actually fucks up the traffic on that road at night time, making it impassible at times. http://andreasrecipes.com/the-shawarma-crawl-bahrain/
If your down close to the souq (which I will get to later), or partying at Delmon Hotel, or otherwise in Manama Center, I suggest you hit up Honey's Thai restaurant. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g293997-d3650347-Reviews-Honeys-Manama.html
If you are an American, and don't live in NYC or DC (which I believe have t eonly locations here) I suggest eating at Nando's if you are at American Alley in the Juffair neighborhood. Best chain chicken I have ever tasted, and then you can say "I had cheeky Nando's with the lads"

Also, i fyou yourself missing Americna food try Blaze Burgers in Adliya, or RIc's Country Kitchen in JUffair. Their is also a great Mexican restaurant called Senor Paco. Actually the food isn't that great, but the live music and Karaoke nights and the Margaritas are out of this world

>Pubs with craft beer
I'm not a beer drinker, so I am going to break down the better pubs with the assumption they have craft beer
This Dublins. It is also features a live band, and is also directly next to a sports bar, called Match Point, that is filled with Thai hookers. It's in Juffair
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g293997-d10781413-Reviews-Dublin_Club-Manama.html
JJ's has a trivia night, a karaoke night, and a grat live band. It's in Adliya
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g293997-d3737632-Reviews-JJ_s_Irish_Restaurant-Manama.html
There's also Club Buffalo, which was the most fun club, with the most non-pros (basically none, unless they were with someone) when I was there. It's inside this hotel. All the clubs are inside hotels, btw. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g293997-d595133-Reviews-Ramee_California_Hotel-Manama.html
Warbler is another pub. I personally only went there once, while waiting for a friend, and it was early in the evening, so I can't speak on it personally. http://www.warblerpubnbarbahrain.com/
One drink you should try, whatever bar you go to, is a "Blue Frog" some people, call it "Bull Frog" but typing it out, it's could just be because they are Asian and can't say "blue"

One more thing on food. And I will post about the other stuff later.
Work weeks are Sunday-Thursday , so Friday is like "Saturday". A least once while you are they take part i one of the many Friday buffets in Bahrain. They are these crazy international buffets with unlimited alcohol and food. The one I'd frequent was at the Diplomat, where we'd after part at Fiddlers Green, the hotel Pub. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g293997-d308102-Reviews-The_Diplomat_Radisson_Blu_Hotel_Residence_Spa-Manama.html
Other popular choices are Crowne Plaza, afterparty at Harvesters
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g293997-d299091-Reviews-Crowne_Plaza_Bahrain-Manama.html
and Movenpick, with afterparty at Flamingo Bar

Make sure to search the reviews for "Friday brunch"

I am arriving in Dammam next Friday, staying in Bahrain on the weekends.
I work in oil and gas.

>impassible
*impossible to pass

Yes, impassible. But I know a couple of alternate routes when this happens
I will come back to this thread eventually and finish answerin the OP's questions
