I have a credit with Westjet of $600. I would like to go somewhere to do a lot of diving (snorkeling/scuba). Everyone I know goes to Mexico or Cuba, so I would like to avoid those and go somewhere a little less travelled. I don't care for night life or shopping. I would like somewhere that is good for photography as well as the diving. Where would you suggest?
I don't speak any other language than English unfortunately and I'm female, so somewhere safe and less chance of me getting zika.
I've looked on Lonely Planet and while I really want to have decent diving/snorkeling, I want to avoid the gaggles of tourists. Preferably, I'd love to book a room on a boat that will be at sea for a few days and dive each of those days.
I've no idea where to start, so any help would be much appreciated!

I've been diving in New Caledonia. It's good so long as you don't dive in touristy locations. Duck Island in Noumea is a place you shouldn't bother paying for SCUBA gear, snorkelling is good enough.
Diving around the light house is good if you're looking to see fish. Lot of cool stuff like Barracuda and Sharks.
There are wrecks you can see if you go further north because of the islands involvement in the Pacific campaign.

Lovely! I've been with nurse sharks before. New Caledonia isn't one of the WestJet destinations. I'm stuck with the places they go to - pictured above.

I have been happy diving in
- Fort Lauderdale FL
- Key Largo FL
- Bocas del Toro, Panama. Rather safe and as far as I know, Zika free.
I have heard great things about
- Roatan, Honduras. May not be safe as a lone female, and Zika.
- Thailand
- Cocos Island liveabord, Costa Rica
- El Gouna, Egypt. According to an Egyptian friend of mine it's a very safe area (basically a resort city), and it looks very cheap because people are scared of Egypt right now. Like, $75 a night at a 4-star hotel cheap.

I have snorkeled in Belize and would love to go back and dive. Belizean reef system is the second biggest in the world. I stayed near San Pedro town, and it seemed very safe when I was 14 (Feb 2010).
Puerto Rico has bad diving unless you get way out of San Juan and away from the rainforest.
The best of the Bahamas is in the Exumas from what I hear.
Jamaica is not super safe outside of the resorts but you should be able to find good diving from what I hear.
Grand Cayman is lovely but I know nothing about the diving.
