I'm going to costa del sol in december for a bit more than a week. I'll be based in Malaga and I really want to go to Granada and also curious about Gibraltar. How is it at this time of the year? I also wonder if the public transport in the area is good or is it better to just rent a car? Any other places that I shouldn't miss out on?
Also Spain general

Complete travel noob who just scored a one month round trip to Madrid for $400 on the recent google flights sale. I'd like to see Granada, Gibraltar too, as well as Sevilla, Portugal and Morocco. Don't really have any advice but I'll be watching this thread as well.

Málaga is a great city, definitely good for walking. Public transportation is great as well. The beach towns heading towards Fuengirola are depressing, filled with older expats and a bit run down. Gibraltar you could do in a half a day, the caves are cool. It would be a shame to miss Sevilla, you are only a short train ride, definitely recommend you do this for a day trip, maybe even zip over to Granada/Córdoba as well.

This guy again.
I've got a very work-in-progress itinerary lined out. Would appreciate it if someone could give some feedback/suggestions. Interested in natural parks and cool geography, good food, ruins, old spanish architecture, etc; don't care about bars/clubs
Madrid - 3 days
Granada - 1 day
Ceuta via Motril ferry - 1 day
Fes, Morocco - 3 days
Casablanca/Rabat, Morocco - 2 days
Gibraltar via Tanger ferry - 1 day
Sevilla - 3 days
Lisbon, Portugal - 3 days
Pyrenees - 3 days (may cancel as it will be early February and likely cold as hell)
Barcelona - 3 days
Valencia/somewhere else in the area- 2 days
Madrid again to catch my flight - 3 days

Go to Toledo instead of spending 6days in Madrid

My suggestions:
swap Barcelona for Tarragona (can easily commute to Barcelona by train from here)
Stay around La albufeura instead of in central Valencia
Pyrenees - could swap for ferry to Balearics or more time in Portugal
Add in Ronda
Stay over in Toledo for at least one night while in Madrid - Much better in evenings when day trippers have gone.

Going from Valencia to/from Barcelona, you have to see Peñiscola and Albarracin.

While in Madrid try to get out to Toledo, as other people have said, but if you've got time then also check out the royal palace at Aranjuez. You can easily get there on the suburban light railway from Atocha station
no spanish guy suggesting cordoba or bilbao? ay cabrones!
