I'm a Swedish student who has lost all motivation and wants to pause my education and travel sometime during the 6 months after the semester ends at christmas.
Where should I go? I want to stay away for at least a month in a warm country.
I have limited funds (about $2.2k or 2k€) but I could work for a couple of months probably and then travel.
I am really interested in South America, especially Colombia, but that seems to be very expensive. Australia is an option because then I could work while I'm there. SE Asia or Spain would be nice too.
Any advice?

Do you mean because of flights to get there or something? In my experience, South America is not particularly expensive -- but I have never flown there from Sweden.

The flights and the stay. I can't seem to find a cheap way to stay there.

A buddy of mine went to Thailand for 7 months. He rented a appartement for 100 Euros a month, more or less that is. Food is very cheap ( expect 1 or 2 euros for a whole meal ), Taxi's are securely monitored against fraud as well so travelling is relatively safe. The drugs scene is almost non-existant due to very strict laws.
Also expect pussey if you're white.

Yeah, Thailand seems nice, but it's so touristy and there are certain things associated with going there I guess. I'm not interested in prostitutes or anything.

Doing the same, also swedish. just quit my job, going to SEA over the winter. Planning to backpack around thailand, vietnam, laos & cambodia, I have like 3500$.
SEA seems like the best choice because it's cheap, fun, has plenty of western backpackers and is almost completely safe unlike south america where you will be murdered for your phone.
Also skips the hellish swedish winter which is great, especially since I have an outdoor job. Haven't booked yet but I'm leaving in november.

That's nice. How long are you gonna stay?
Also, do you have any advice on how to find places to stay and all that? I have done a bit of research but I can't find those appartments for $1k/month. Any info helps me.
Lycka till!
Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar.
How is Nepal in terms of cost?

Took me all of 10 seconds. But I'm going to backpack so I'll use hostels/airbnb wherever I am.

Thanks for the link. Are sites like that trustworthy? Seems like it's easy to get scammed with this stuff.

>$2.2k for 6 month
works out to 12 dollars a day.
SE Asia is your best bet.
Central America probably...
South American, maybe Ecuador, Bolivia and parts of Peru.

Ecuador is not that cheap anymore since its currency is the US dollar, all Latin American currencies have devaluated making traveling there cheaper, except countries using USD like Ecuador or Panama.

Non tourist cities in S.E Asia I had a friend staying Jogja in Indo living on about $5 a day rent was about $2 and meals $3 he was working as apprentice bush mechanic for some crazy old former drug dealer/bootlegger as something to do.
