well that picture is definitely one of them. Go to mount washington and get that killer view. If you've got the money, eat a one of the restauants that are on grandview ave.
I've been going to school here for three years and I really can't come up with a ton of stuff, sorry. Poor college students don't get out much lol.
Phipps conservatory is nice from what I've heard. Market Square is a nice place to check out as well- a good variety of food down there. You've got to try Primanti bro's, or at least go anywhere where you can get your fries and cole slaw in your burger.
E. Carson in south side is where a ton of the bars are, and it's pretty lively on the weekends. The Strip also has a ton of restaurants although its in a odd part of town- like an old train yard or something. The Cultural district is fun but small. Maybe you can catch a play or a musical there at the theatre.

There's the Warhol Museum which is a must-do but even better is The Mattress Factory, Pitt's modern art museum in which most of the exhibits are interactive. It's all really cool unless you're one of those fags that gets triggered by modern art because you have to interpret it yourself.

I don't know what to say. It's just another boring American city.

shitty meme food, imo
Im an australian going there for a month for training at our head office next year in jan. Hope to sneak in some partying on the weekends where abouts to go?
Check out the Cathedral of Learning and its nationality rooms at Pitt in Oakland.
For food Primanti's is the classic, but I have to recommend Fuel and Fuddle in Oakland or Burgatory with a couple locations throughout the city.

Fuel and Fuddle closed last year :/

You don't work for PPG do you?
Hidden Harbor is a really good tiki bar
>>1172206
Cross a bridge. Cross another bridge. Take a wrong turn and have to spend a half hour driving around the city to get back on track because it's all one way streets that go up into the sky.

"muddy waters oyster bar" in east liberty... good cajun food
Go see Sharon Needles

bus system sucks major ass unless you commute oakland to the city.
keep your car if you're ok with walking a bit to street parking.
>>1173436
only decent bars are in lawrenceville or the south side. be mentally prepared to see a lot of trashy and fat people
>>1175829
Thats ok, it's like the outter suburbs of Sydney where Im from, fat ppl, trashy and fucking arabs.
>>1175829
i would really only be taking the bus to the grocery store or if i wanna go somewhere far
isn't it annoying to have to move your car for street cleaning and shit. where do you put it?
>>1175374
Go see Jackie Evancho.at the Benedum.
What to do outside the city? short road trips?
>>1175952
the one weird thing about pittsburgh is we have no minorities other than blacks in the bad city neighborhoods, and they stay there for the most part, I grew up in a 99%white suburb, was cozy
where to meet girls?
I would say Kennywood (vintage amusement park dating to late 1800s), which is in that area, but they are probably not open in the cold months. I can think of several things worth looking at in PA, but the closest spots are in the middle of the state.

You're in luck, Pittsburgh is a pretty cool place for being a Midwest city (I live in Pgh now but I'm originally from Maine fight me irl fgts). There are some cool sights and places for any disposition. I'll start assuming you're staying downtown and not renting a car.
Like another anon said, public transport sucks except for a specific run right down the middle of the triangle between the rivers. You'll be here in December so walking long distances would kind of suck. Don't go with cab companies, Uber is still pretty cheap and worlds better to get over rivers with.
Food: if you want to read flowery paragraphs and happy horseshit about Pittsburgh's food scene, just google "Pittsburgh food". The long and short of it is that there are a ton of awesome eateries in the city. The concentrations of new/hip/experimental restaurants are in Market Square, Cultural District, Strip District, Oakland and Lawrenceville. A few of my favorites are (west to east) The Yard, Meat And Potatoes, Sharp Edge (huge European beer selection), Sienna Marcato, Gaucho Parilla Argentina, Small man Galley (Rotating startup chefs have their small kitchens in here, 4 different menus in one location), Round Corner Cantina for Mexican... getting tired of listing them all.
There are tons of museums and a cultural things to check out. As mentioned before, the Andy Warhol and Mattress Factory are cool. There's also Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History in Oakland. Absolutely massive, awesome museum. Near there is Phipps Conservatory, a sprawling greenhouse with Bonsai, Orchids, seasonal rooms, a rainforest...very cool. On the North Side again is the National Aviary, if you're into birds. Plenty of theater, cabaret, and off-Broadway productions in the Cultural District.
Which brings me to architecture. Pittsburgh was flush with money during the late 1900s and early 20th centuries. There are so many awesome buildings from the gilded age. The Benefit and Heinz theaters.

Benedum and Heinz hall*, lots of beautiful churches of every denomination and style. Sailors and Soldiers memorial. The Grand Concourse restaurant on the south side used to be the "Grand Central Station" of Pittsburgh, now a high end restaurant. Absolutely amazing inside, pic related. A little pricey, but the host won't refuse if you walk in and ask to check out the main room. There's also a side bar, The Gandy Dancer, that has a good happy hour and raw bar.
It's also right next to one of the inclines, which is where the picture in your OP was taken. These are cool railcars that go up the steep mountain to the south of the city. Gives a great view from the top, and there's a small museum at the upper station. There are a whole line of restaurants up here that give a great view of the city with your meal. My favorites are Altius and Monterey Bay at the moment, but they're all pretty pricey so make sure your Tinder/Grindr date is worth it. Also St Mary on the Mount is up here, if you're into church architecture.
There's a pretty good brewery scene in Pittsburgh. Church Brew Works in Lawrenceville is cool, tasty brews and a restaurant in an old church. East End Brewery beers are good, their brewery and tours are out a little further. Even Arsenal Cider house is very good, favorite of mine. Going out of the city to the west in Carnegie is Apis Meadery, a very small meadhouse that makes some delectable stuff. Further down the road in Heidelberg is Insurrection Ale Works, a brewpub that's worth the trip. In the Strip District is Wigle Distillery, they make whiskey, rum and gin like it was in the 1800s. Their tour is 8/10, cool history lesson about the Whiskey Rebellion comes with it.
Sports...you can probably catch a Penguins game while youre here if you're so inclined. Not much more to say on that. Anyway, yeah, that's the long and short of it. Hope you have a good time, bucko
