Can someone give me a brief synopsis of each of the five boroughs of New York City? Also, Other New York advice/underrated things to see are appreciated.
Will be spending a work week there in may. One day shall be dedicated to some business, so I have 4 days to look around.
>Manhattan
The most famous borough by far and the center of NYC. NYC revolves around Manhattan more or less, but Manhattan is not the only important borough.
It's very densely populated, and the area from the Southern tip of Manhattan to 59th st basically serves as a giant "Downtown" (in the traditional sense for NYC.
North of 59th street is more residential but very densely populated still.
>Brooklyn
Most populous borough, very densely populated. Ranges widely in neighborhood type, like all the other boroughs. Brownstone Brooklyn (the parts of Brooklyn near the East River) has become super gentrified over the years, and is extremely expensive now.
Brooklyn in general varies widely. It is probably my favorite borough.
>Staten Island
Least populous and least densely populated borough, sort of isolated because the subway doesn't go there and is kind of a long drive from Manhattan. The North Shore is pretty urban but much of Staten Island is pretty suburban for NYC standards.
>Queens
Very densely populated but also has some suburbanish areas in the Eastern portion. Extremely diverse. Generally low crime with some exceptions.
>The Bronx
Very densely populated, and is the poorest borough to my knowledge. Most neighborhoods are either poor or working class. However it's still not particularly dangerous anymore. Some neighborhoods are nicer than others.
Home of Yankee Stadium
Overall it has a lot of positives and isn't as bad as people say. I can definitely see parts of The Bronx gentrifying.

I wish I could have explained even further but I'm glad that was of help! Any specific questions you have?

Not really.
Also, every borough is racially and economically diverse.
Keep in mind, every borough is populous enough to be a major city.
