Hi all ! My girlfriend and I planned to make a trip during between 6 and 12 months in Asia, in 1 or 2 years. Each of us choose 6 countries (for a 6 months trip) and with our lists, we choose 6 finally destinations... I'm sure for India, Nepal. But after ? What's yours advices ? Convice me !
>China
>Vietnam
>Cambodia
>Thailand
>Burma
>India
That would be my trip, in that order (or reverse), I would also try to squeeze in Iran if at all possible.

From India and Nepal I'm guessing you like hardy people, industry-heavy countries, and would rather "rough it" than stay in nice, convenient cities, so I'd say:
>Vietname
>Cambodia
>Mongolia
>Thailand
>Phillipines
would be the natural order. Personally I like more structure, but still don't like yuppies, so I did:
>Taiwan
>China
If you want yuppies, add:
>Japan
>SK

>Mongolia
>Burma
>Laos
>Finland
>Korea
>Japan
Just lower your expectations and you'll be fine.
What do you guys think of this?
>Vietnam (land in Hanoi and head South)
>Cambodia
>Thailand
>Laos (maybe skip this, or just the Northern part
>Myanmar
>India (go around or through Bangeladesh, then re enter India)
I'm taking a semester off and have about $8000 saved up. I've done an extended trip similar to this through Central/South America, and plan on roughing for the most part.
How feasible is this? Any input or suggested routes are appreciated.

My reccomendations in order of preference, but not necessarily chronology for you would be
Taiwan
Japan
China
Burma
Indonesia
Thailand
I reccomend allocating the most time to china just because I feel there's a lot to see, and even though taiwan is much nicer, it's incredibly small.
I reccomend burma because it's still somewhat pristine, time is running out.
I reccomend thailand because it's fun, superficially exotic, and easy.
I reccomend indonesia because it's fucking foreign as all hell.
I don't particularly reccomend cambodia, phils, or india because 99% of it will be dilapidated urban sprawl. it is of course, your choice. I enjoyed my stays there, but I also had a LOT of time.
I'm a chinaboo though, so take my advice with a grain of salt. 70% of the people met in china disliked it, and the ones who didn't were either east asian (lots of koreans and japanese) or somewhat strange. I'm reccomending china to you because holiday lads don't tend to leave for 12 months, and they tend to go to party destinations.
Your choice though

mostly feasible. I don't know if I'd do a lang crossing through burma to bangladesh, or from bangladesh to india. the burma/bangle border in particular, is a warzone, and might not even be allowed. I'm pretty sure that for a 1st world passport, they only allow crossings via the airport because of this, though I could be wrong. the only one I'm certain about is the china/burma crossing, which is completely sealed because it is also a warzone
