Hey, /trv/, I'm going to take a trip with my girl in December probably and I'm wondering if Mongolia is worth it for a few days? I don't really hear anything about Mongolia, has anyone been?

Considering I live in Japan so this would not be a long flight, do you think Mongolia would be worth it for a few days?

I've heard a couple of stories about mongolia, one of them was about hiring a guide and horseriding the steppes

it sounded pretty cool. something on my bucket list, but maybe not something I want to immediately do.

hope others can be more help
>>
Bump, thanks guys.
>>
>>1166975
There are a number of people here who have discussed Mongolia... great natural beauty; steppes, Plains, deserts. Horses. Camels in some parts. Among the least densely populated countries on Earth if you like wide open spaces.

But I'm not sure December is a great time to visit--Mongolia is famously, ferociously cold in the winter. Also very dark.
>>
Spend a month in Mongolia during my 9 month Asia trip.

It's one of the countries I really miss, one of the most beautiful places Ive ever been. I will certainly go back there and maybe even get my own ger for a while.

Ask me anything.

On a side note. Any of you guys ever been to central Asia? That's my potential next destination.
>>
>>1167159

December is indeed a very bad month to go there. Everything will be down and UB (the only real city) becomes the one of the most poluted cities of the world as every (semi) nomad family will move their herd there and start burning coal.

I was there in september last year and even then we had some heavy snowfall in the north and a lot of tourist stuff was already down because of the winter.
>>
>>1167188
How was mongolia? what was your route? any tips/recommendations?
I've been to central asia (kazakhstan kyrgyzstan tajikstan uzbekistan) for around 2 months, if you have any questions hit me up
>>
Remember you can't really travel independently in Mongolia. You need a local driver/guide if you want to see anything outside of UB.
>>
>>1167237

This here is true >>1167539

You cant drive yourself and public transport is almost non existent and will only get you to the capitals of the provinces (which are nothing more than small industrial towns or villages).

You will certainly start in UB which doesnt have a lot going for it except its the place to organize a trip. Find a group of people to share the driver and van with and plan a route. I knew people who did all of Mongolia in one go hiring the driver for a month but I did 3 separate trips to central Mongolia, the Gobi and the North.

I want to repeat that going there in December is still a bad idea and just a waste of time. Whole of Mongolia's tourist industry will be down and I think some hostels even close down.
>>
>>1167545

Most hotels and hostels are also travel agents whom will organize custom trips for you. It's cheaper to get your own driver but you won't have a guide and have to get your own place to sleep and food. Finding a place to sleep is really easy however. Just drive up to a ger camp and ask if you can sleep there.
>>
>>1167545
it's a large country for sure, i have this (out of ignorance) impression that it's a country with not so much varied landscape etc, what different things can you experience there? considering the fact that it warranted three separate trips for you
>>
I'm in Mongolia at the moment. I've been here for 3 months. I'd strongly recommend coming here in summertime as winter is fucking brutal (minus 40 and 50 some nights).

I'd recommend coming here with someone as hardly anyone speaks English. I've found myself in quite a few sticky situations because I can't speak Mongolia. People told me to watch for thieves who pinpocket but I've never encounter any crime here really. That being said, of course watch your stuff. Everything is cheap as hell here, they'll try to overcharge you if you look foreign but you still end up not paying shit.

I went north and south here inbetween the work I was doing and it was absolutely beautiful. Weed grows wild in the west and north so be sure to smoke up a bit.

Overall it's a lovely country, the summer is great, women are beautiful and they're friendly people.

Oh yeah, hire a guide who can speak mongol because it'll be so much easier.
>>
>>1167552

It's far more varied than you think. In the south you have the Gobi desert with camels and 300 meter high sand dunes. In the north you have vast lakes, forests and beautiful mountains. Central Mongolia has dormant vulcanos and hot springs. There are also some beautiful monasteries although they are all rebuild versions of the original.

Nah there is enough to do there for months. I did a month and still only saw a small part of the country. It might not be as flashy as going to China or Thailand but has much more to it.

>>1167561
so if i want to go there for starters where do you recommend i go?

Been to Mongolia a few times

You want to go in December? You know there will -45 degrees, right? Seriously, go there in July, enjoy a Nadaam festival (outside of Ulaanbaatar) and go on a horse riding trip.
A better start, because of cheaper than UB is to book a tour from a family guesthouse in the countryside (f.e https://www.tripadvisor.de/10412487?m=19905)

Pic related, temple in Sainshand (10 hour drive with the Trans-mongolian railway) , 2 weeks ago.

>Nadaam festival (outside of Ulaanbaatar)
If you can find one. Most of the locals hold their regional or village Nadaam BEFORE the official UB one because it just sucks the talent there.
ALSO
Don't touch their foot with yours, if you do IMMEDIATLY SHAKE HANDS AND APOLOGISE.
When walking around their cairns [I forgot the Mongolian name] go to the left.
DO NOT FUCK THEIR WOMEN YOU WILL GET YOU SHIT KICKED IN.
Have fun.

I fucked plenty of Mongolian women. The trick is to don't kiss in public because Mongolian men are very (for real, especially in UB) protective of their women. Go easy on her in public, just ask her to come to your (not theirs!) room / hotel.
Once she and you are protected by the safety of privacy, you will learn how a women can please you. Don't think you'll sleep that night.
>>
>>1168994
>Don't think you'll sleep that night.

Never mind, then, 'cause I need plenty of sleep.
>>
>>1168994
How do you meet them? Do girls in UB use Tinder?
>>
>>1168994
What's up with Northern Asians and sex ?

I hooked up with Chinese, Korean and a half-Chine half-Mongolian girls over some months in Shanghai.
They were all very reserved in public about sex, tended to kawai everything up even if they were not exactly trying to act as lolis as many do.
Anyway, once in the sack... wtf, I was drained every-fucking-time. I fucking hurt my dick fucking them. I don't know if it's because they feel repressed, taught themselves sex off porn or something but dang, I did not expect that from this part of the world.
>>
>>1169039
They use tinder, yes. I never suspected no one as a fake.

But to be honest my pick-up line was to just say 'hi'. I suggest Clubs like CUE+, which attracts more English-speaking Mongolian women. Don't try to steal a girl from a Mongolian guy or it can get ugly.
>>
Do Mongolian or Kazakh girls have big tiddies?

I'm on a bit of a side mish to smash the gash of the biggest boobed azns I mash.

Why don't you talk properly?
>>
Everyone keeps saying to be careful about angry Mongolian men seeing a foreigner take their women. So Mongolian men being violent drunks is not just a meme?
>>
>>1169330
I would say, in general, be careful abut some guy seeing you take his woman.
