Have you ever been to one? How did you get in? How much did you pay, if you paid at all? How was the experience?
Feel free to share any related stories, tips, or anything.

I've been in the VIP lounges in a lot of airports, best ones probably being Tokyo (Narita), Singapore, Taipei, and San Fransisco.

I know that standard United clubs give day passes for $50 a person. I got into these clubs traveling with my dad who is United Global services and has a ton of perks through American Express.

The cost for the more high end lounges (United Global First @ SFO, for instance), is just the price of the Intl First Class ticket you bought which gets you entry.

Not really any stories to share. Good experience at most of them. Best experience was the lounge at Narita where I spent a layover after coming from the states on the way to Taipei. They had great showers and great food to hold me over for a few hours. Asian VIP lounges in general are pretty good. Only bad experiences I've had are in Bangkok (some lounges there are great - thai air for instance - others not so good) Chengdu.

If you're looking for more specific info I can share.

I've visited quite a few. I fly business (the company pays for it, I am not rich). The best would be business/first class lounges in Dubai and Doha. Overall, it's totally different experience, flights are absolutely not tiresome even when it's a 12hr+ one. You can take a shower, treat yourself to a nice dinner or get wasted, whatever. Sleeping zones included. No lines. And after that it's a smooth transition to a comfy seat with more booze and food.

I've been in the China Airlines VIP lounges and they are pretty great, you can snack on the stuff they have laying out or get a nice meal if you like. They have wifi and lots of places to relax. Some lounges have showers (it will vary depending on the airport). I get in because my dad is a Platinum member; his ticket gets him entry plus one for his wife. Every single time I've flown with him, he just asks the person at the ticket counter if they will allow his kid (me) to enter the VIP lounge with him and his wife and they have always given him another pass for free with a smile and "of course!"

It's nice to have access to the lounge but not something I would pay for out of pocket. I feel like if you were stuck at an airport for a couple hours then it'd be worth your money, but if you're like me and don't like being cooped up for too long then a cell is a cell no matter what nice things are inside--I'd much rather walk around the airport to kill time, especially before 10+ hour flights.

i've been to two: in tel aviv and in moscow dme. Both were crappy. The food is shit, the lounges are small.

These are just business class, not first class though.

I've been in a range of lounges on biz-class tickets or when I had status with an airline--best might have been Istanbul, but I've also enjoyed Zurich, Bangkok (Thai Air/Star Alliance), Hanoi, Seoul (although the food was surprisingly bad), and Hong Kong. Only one I've ever really not enjoyed was Nairobi--small, really shabby, no showers, nowhere to lie down. It felt like a regular departure lounge with a small bar, and I was there at seven AM, so I was not looking to drink.

I have also paid for two lounges when on coach tickets, after my status died. Taipei was OK but extremely far from my gate, and the food was so-so; Delhi was quite nice. Quiet, good food, etc. I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 or $60 for each. Never paid to enter an airline-affiliated lounge; these were both third-party.

Marco Polo member with Cathay Pacific. As. Silver member I got access to Business Class lounge whenever I flew with them. The showers are the biggest draw. The food was OK, but nothing worth writing about. But dude, after a 14 hour of flight, a shower feels so good.

been to a couple in Boston, Kona Hawaii, Los Angeles and in Itami.

maybe they just sucked, but the best hings about them were the free snacks/drinks

>American airlines flight out of DCA to JFK
> DCA airline lounge was pretty cool, free drinks, lounge was clean and quiet. Not a lot of frills
> JFK lounge was under construction
> the makeshift lounge was pretty shit, loud, it felt like a highschool cafeteria with carpeting.

>JetBlue airspace in JFK
>July 4th weekend, free first two drinks, shit food, kind of a mess

>"centurion" lounge Dominican Republic
>neat quiet, literally the only person there.
>free soda but alcohol and food came at a price
>to add insult to injury the menu said it came from the restaurant next door.

Idk I'm the dick that talked about lifting in Monaco in another thread. So I guess I'm hype about going into the British airways lounge in JFK and maybe another lounge in BCN.

I'm a doctor in israel and each year i'm entitled to 4 visits to the VIP lounge in tel aviv ben gurion airport for free, it's a shitty lounge though not worth it
>>
>StarAlliance gold
>Oneworld emerald

I get to visit a lounge on pretty much any flight. It's hard to name a favorite, I have been to so many good ones.

Next weekend I'll get to try the first class lounge in Heathrow terminal 3 (based oneworld emerald) status, let's see how that one is.

I was Flying from Belfast airport to my local airport. On arrival I found out all flights to my local airport were cancelled so they were all being rerouted to London City Airport.

I wasn't very happy and quite angry if anything especially as my airline Flybe were quite shitty about giving me that day's flight as they were trying to push me to take the following days, also the lack of notification. Oh well, who gives a shit.

So I just wanted to get drunk but I'd burned all my money in Berlfast. I spot the BA lounge and waltz in as if I belong, throw my bag down stomp
over to the open bar and start serving myself red wine. After about 40 minutes the hostess was eyeing me and getting suspicious, goes and gets the manager.

Manager comes over and asks for my BA ticket, hand him my FlyBe ticket, starts saying "uhh yeah this is Flybe not BA, why are you in here?", already had an excuse prepared "Yeah I know man, what a day I'm having all my flights to my local airport are cancelled so BA got me a flight with a seperate airline, go check all the cancellations if you don't believe me". He walks off with my ticket, comes back and apologises to me saying have a wonderful time.

Either he couldn't be bothered with the hassle of throwing me out or for some reason believed my lie and didn't want to search through anything.

Social engineering at its best.

Please tell me you said it with a thick Irish accent.

I waltzed into the lounge at the toronto airport, sat down at a computer asked for a free pop and chilled out for an hour while waiting for a flight one time
they didn't even ask me for a name or anything
but there was a sign on the door saying something to the effect of vip members only, I guess you're vip bro

Get yourself an Amex Platinum card, you'll have access to lounges in any airport. $450 a year, but you get what you pay for. They use Priority pass, and you have access to Delta and the Centurion lounges. Global entry and TSA pre check for Americans. Write it off.

I agree that Narita has a great lounge, but the best is probably the Amex Centurion lounges. Not only top shelf wine list, bartender, excellent food, free Uber rides back home (promotion ended).

Usually the lounges are better in Asia.

Ausfag here, I get Priority Pass for free with my Citibank Visa card, haven't used it yet but have an upcoming 6hr layover in LAX. I plan on using the Air Canada or Korean Air lounge, which ever is more convenient for my connecting Virgin flight, as both have showers.

Got into the Concorde lounge at Heathrow when her parents flew us in first.

We were caught in traffic on the way to the airport so didn't get anywhere near enough time to enjoy it. The champagne and complementary massages were pretty special though.

I've travelled around a lot in First Class the last 12 months... A few of the best lounges I've been to this year.

>Singapore Airlines, Private Room - Changi Airport.
This lounge is exclusively for passengers flying First Class on Singapore Airlines and is only accessible via private hallway in back of First Class Lounge. Of course if you are flying first class/suites then you are always escorted there. Have met Liam Neeson in there TWICE. Plus Moet Chandon flowing like there's no tomorrow. Very classy lounge.

>Qantas First Class Lounge - Sydney Airport.
One of the best, very good a la carte menu, nice free massage, very personal service. Good view of the runway and just overall nice lounge to wait in.

>Cathay Pacific The Wing First Class Lounge, Hong Kong Airport.
Pretty new, and very classy. Everything you'd imagine from a top of the line lounge, and as it is brand new it's very nice place to relax. As a Qantas Chairman's Lounge member I was also able to book one of the few private relaxation rooms. Inside an airport, I had my own private bathroom, daybed and room service with champagne and food for 4 hours while I waited for my flight to Sydney. Now that was cool.

>Special mentions...
Etihad First Class Lounge, Abu Dhabi
Concorde Room, New York

PIC Related - The Private Room dining area.

One of Australia's lesser known exports.

Also, they are known as biscuits (bikkies) not "cookies".
