Travelling to Chicago. Please inform me on good tourist attractions and sights for a weekend. Thanks /trv/
I think the skyline of Chicago is extremely overrated, but a local told me the boat tours is the best way to do it. I think the elevated L train is the most amazing way to see the city in half an hour.

the cta is easily the best way to see the city
I would stay away from the the parts of the red, orange, and green lines that are on the the south side. its also probably a bad idea to ride a train that isnt the brown line at night
>Millennium Park & Grant Park
Go take a picture of yourself in the bean (Cloud Gate). There's usually some interesting sculptures displayed as well. Grant Park has a nice fountain. Just nice to walk through these general areas and relax.
>Art Institute
Highly recommend, one of the best museums I've ever visited. They have a good, expansive collection; you get a lot of bang for your buck.
>Magnificent Mile (Michigan Ave)
Start at the Art Institute and walk north to Water Tower Place. Just a shopping street. Stop at Garret's for popcorn.
>John Hancock
You can buy a pricey drink at their Signature Lounge for more city views.
>Willis Tower (FKA Sears Tower)
The glass floors are cool but IMO the views aren't as great, this is skippable.
>Boat tour
Great way to see the skyline and learn a little about the city's history.
Eat:
>Italian beef sandwich
Can't go wrong with Portillo's; there are a couple downtown. Get it wet (dipped in au jus) and hot (with giardinara).
>Chicago style pizza
Lots of different styles, I always take out of town friends to Lou Malnati's or Pizzeria Due because they are consistently good. If you like thin crust, go to Gino's East. Pie style then Giordano's (personally dislike Giordano's because their pizzas tend to be soggy). Cake style then Pequod's. Deep dish then Uno's, Due, or Lou Malnati's. For something really different try pizza pot pie at Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co.
>Chicago style hot dog
If you're going to get it then do it right: Mustard, tomato, onion, relish, pickle spear, and celery salt on a poppy seed bun - sports peppers are optional. Note the lack of ketchup.

Will add to this
>Cultural Center (in downtown, fairly close to the art institute
>Navy Pier
>Riverwalk
>Museum Campus + the park
>Hyde Park (neighborhood around UoC)
>Chinatown
>Spend some time walking around the loop and enjoying the architecture. Including the theater district in the north part of the loop. Take the L at least once.

Also lakefront trail
You can also go to the 606. A new elevated walking trail in the Bucktown hood.
Get a ventra card. It will take you from one end of the city to another and you can reload it by the day for 10 dollars. Takes you from O'hare to your hotel within 30-45 minutes. Or you can do uber. They're both convenient and reasonable priced. Check out all the shopping centers, that's where some of the good food places are. There's also a row of Chicago''s famous eats. I found that if you stay more than 5 days the Chicago city pass is a good way to get access to all of Chicago's skyscrapers and museums. Definitely check out thearly bars and catch a baseball game if possible. And if you have the opportunity to stay in the loop, definitely do so. You won't regret it. Have fun!

New York pizza is objectively superior. That said, Chicago has the best hotdogs in the world, bar none.

'go has some phenomenal 'za senpai. Nyc style is mediocre

You wouldn't have pizza in America if it wasn't for Grimaldi's in New York bringing out the Neapolitan pizza.

Lombardi's sorry.

Chicago also has a lot of shitty pizza.
The weird thing about Chicago is that it's the huge city where it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere and nothing is going on. It's the strangest place I have ever been to in my life. It's like townies, hipsters and gangsters going through life in a daze. It's an extremely segregated city and the friction is palpable. I lived there for about 2 months.
