Ok I'm traveling tomorrow from Europe to San Francisco, and I'm kinda going paranoid for the Customs and shit like that. I fear they are gonna take hours going throu my Laptop and all my fucking possession. I don't even have anything illegal (except for torrents and shit like that) and I'm gettin pretty scared
>I don't have anything illegal
>tells us about the illegal stuff he has
USA is THE land of litigious copyright owners, lad. Torrenting there can fuck you up for life depending on severity of offence. But I don't think they actually check contents of passenger personal devices, so dw about that. If you aren't bringing in/taking out more than 1 brand new/in box device, just go through "nothing to declare".

That's why I won't torrent shit there and I'm deleting every torrent I have on it, still scared tho

Use any decent HDD wiper that actually fill the disk with garbage data multiple times. Not even the NSA+FBI combined can find traces after a successful wipe.
If you want to be extra sure, buy a new HDD and use the wiper on it before installing anything.
Also, take just a carry-on. That way they can scan through every singe shit you're carrying faster and you won't have to waste hours of your life in customs. If you can't fit everything you need in a carry-on only, consider aborting the trip or consider taking only what you can and buy what you couldn't fit in almighty Burgerland.
Lastly, never, NEVER let ANYONE from the customs handle your stuff without you looking. They can plant illegal stuff just to fuck you up. Fill your HDD with illegal content and shit like that.
STAY ALERT!

I hope you're trolling. GJ. Here's the (You).
If not, consider suicide.
If you really want to be "safe", holocaust your drive:

Same here too.
But so far, it has been unwarranted. Havent had any checks done on me, and even the TSA guys where friendly and fast. Even forgetting to remove my water bottle from my pack just cost me a few seconds of "Oh, sorry, forgot to remove it. My mistake, I was distracted with removing my shoes. Yes, you can discard it. sorry again"
The security theathre still felt stressing and weird, but if you act friendly and careful, it's not an issue to get through (that is, if you look like a well mannered professional).
Just make sure that you have nothing illegal or questionable on your laptop (the mentioned torrents, and probably stuff like amateur porn, where you have no way of proving that you obtained it legally and that the "actors" are of legal age (unless you are into granny porn, the risk that someone mistakes that as CP could be rather low).
If you want to make sure, just do a fresh install (or invest in the cheapest HDD you can find, and do a fresh install on that, so that you can leave your original one at home, keeping all your data and settings when returning).
US customs will only care about your torrents if you have stacks of pirate DVDs labeled as though they were purchased (or are intended for purchase) commercially, or if it's kiddie porn
Most of the time they have their hands full trying to spot retards importing buckets of snake blood and topsoil, you could probably straightup announce to them that you have every episode of Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones on that drive and they'll just laugh at you
One time I had a panic attack and declared some sausages I was trying to smuggle, the customs lady literally rolled her eyes and told me to fuck off
