Alright since my last thread died without much of a reply, I'm gonna try again, this time a bit more concrete:
Going to Cyprus next week (Arriving on August 11th at night, departing on August 16th in the afternoon) and looking for input on my itinerary/suggestions on things to do/see. Here's what I have so far:
>11th
Arrive at night in Larnaka, go to hotel, sleep
>12th
Take the bus to Nikosia, check out the old town, cross the border, maybe go to a shisha bar in the evening
>13th+14th
ATM, I have a hotel booked in Kakopetria, but I am starting to think that I would rather spend these two days somewhere comfy near the ocean. Originally wanted to stay in Polis, but no accommodation can be found there (except for one Airbnb bitch who declined) so I'm looking for other places to stay that are similar (nature nearby, comfy, beach)
>15th
get back to Larnaka, check out the salt lake and maybe some other stuff
>16th
Chill out on the beach in Larnaka, maybe check out some cool places (suggestions?), before my flight departs
Would greatly appreciate some input, thanks m8s

I have only been there for work, so my time for "touristy" things was somewhat limited.
However, I had to work right in the middle of the Troodos mountains, which I would deem very much worth seeing!
Its quite a nice landscape, and the fact that you can find such high, almost alpine mountais that close to the sea is fascinating. I was there in spring, and there was skiing going on on Mt. Olympos in the morning, and you could go swimming in the sea on the afternoon.
Also, the geology is fantastic!
Kykkos monstry is also worth seeing.
And you should probably be able to find some cheap, rather rustic hotels in the mountains.

yeah I think I will certainly enjoy my time there if I go, it's just that my grandparents live in the mountains and I oftentimes visit them, whereas I live in a landlocked country so I don't get to see the ocean that much.

seems like most stuff is booked out unfortunately. Got a slightly overpriced shitty hotel but that's fine I guess

Fair enough.
Same for me. Still, the combination of "real" (ie. almost 2000 m asl) mountains AND the ocean was absolutely fascinating.
since its literally a 1 hour drive from the Olympos skiing club to the beach in Limmasol, you wont loose to much time.

how did you get around that area? Is public transport working there?

turkish side is also cool, casinos and nice food.

Rental car. Driving on the wrong side of the road was fun. Luckily, they have a double three lanes roundabout at the airport, so if you manage to leave the airport without dying, you are probably fit to drive there. Prices are quite OK for small cars.
>public transport
Didnt really check, but since I almost never saw busses in the mountains, its probably not too good.
