So /trv/, I really want to go on a bike trip through Europe, but I'm not sure what bike I will need.
Been looking at Surly bikes, and I'm thinking Surly Troll. Looks like a bike that goes as well on the road as in the woods. That and the ECR.
The Long Haul Trucker and the Disc Trucker also seems very good, but looks like it is mainly a road bike, and I want to have the possibility of going "wild".
What bike would you reccommend for a trip like this?

The LHT is a classic touring bike, hard to go wrong there. How much of this trip are you planning to do on dirt vs. pavement?

Biking down the Danube is probably a pretty nice trip. Shouldn't be too much effort either.
>through Europe
Like, all of Europe? Which regions and what length are we talking here?

Generally speaking any bike that isn't totally crap will do but what's best depends a lot on your personal needs and the region. Crossing the Alps on a bike requires different gear than cycling in Denmark or the Netherlands but even the Alps can be done on an old singlespeed if you don't mind walking your bike every now and then.

They call it a troll for a reason

to be honest op, any bike that is fairly new and has the right mounting for your racks would do. A hybrid that has mountain bike gearing would get the job done. As for specific bikes I don't really have one I could recommend personally, I hear from lots of people the Troll is really great though! The bike that I used to cross Canada last year was a Norco Indie 3 was $700 cnd , all stock mechanically. I would recommend brooks saddles, axiom bags, and Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires. Pic related that's my bike

this
Also if somebody could recommend a bike that doesn't cost and arm and a leg I would be very happy.

Depends on where you live. If you're from the US Giant bicycles might be your best bet. They have a good reputation and you can get a tour-ready Giant bike with decent specs from as little as $600.
If you're from Europe try Radon bicycles. They are a German online-only company which sell bikes under their own brand. They also have a good reputation and they're known to sell bikes with excellent specs for fairly cheap.
