Hey /trv/ My bf and I are travelling through Europe later this month. Wanting to download a maps app/gps maps which we can make use of, whilst offline. I dont like google maps as the only source of data, mainly as i have to rely on wifi, and map data doesn't save when offline. (We will be driving wherever the wind blows....
Hoping you guys can give me some recommendations on some good functional user friendly apps i could download
Using a samsung 7..

Get a paper road atlas book

Cheaper, more reliable, easier to read, works anywhere

the answer is maps.me for android or iOS.

This, it's really amazing. It has everything, even hiking trails etc.
>>
I've used CityMaps2Go before, but that was just on citytrips. Not sure if they offer roadmaps and larger areas.

Also, Google Maps recently introduced an offline map feature I think.

I have to say, I pack my Garmin if I'm doing any driving. It does a better job in mountainous areas not losing signal like 3/4G, spot on turn-by-turn directions (Google can have a couple seconds delay which matters in traffic). And, seems to be something you can use for hours without battery recharge, unlike Waze which sucks a battery dry. I think Garmin makes an app but I don't have personal experience with it. Why I like the actual device the most is speed limit tracking. Saves tickets. You have to keep them freshly updated before you go, due to frequent construction changes in some cities.

Do you already know where you will be going pretty clearly by now? If you aren't looking for GPS style directions, you might just want good city maps. Either view and clip sections of online maps, save as pdf, or download some nice tourist-marked sights .pdfs of city maps and plot out some of your ideas with markup, such as walking tour routes, hikes info. Go ahead and print turn-by-turns from google maps now into a document file for use just in case. This will help you out if you don't find an app you like and aren't using guidebooks in your kindle. I find it nice to throw offline webpages of restaurants I like, museum info pages, etc. It saves some time if you have limited time or slow times on the hotel internet You'.ll always have your phone on you, and a quick document view is simple.

If OP, I'm biting.

You opened a thread on a subject which already had a thread going on. Your post has been replied in both places.
