hey, I'm from brazil and I'll be studying in vienna in the following winter semester. I'd like some general tips of what to do over there, bar recommendations, etc... I'll be travelling alone, so it would be nice to meet some new people during my stay. thank you
be mentally prepared for winter, although it doesn't get as cold (also way less snow now) anymore than it used to, it still is cold and dark/grey. the glühwein and punsch makes up for that though ;)
which university are you going to be at?

Vienna is prime for visiting a lot of side towns on weekends on short train rides. Can you get visas for hungary and czech rep at the same time (or do you need to from your country, double check since it may be easier to get at your home embassy?). You'd enjoy Prague, Budapest, which are as vastly different from Vienna as from each other. Even shorter popular excursions: Dresden, Melk, Salzburg, etc.

yes, I'll need some time to get used to it, hehe. there's no such a thing as winter in the city where I live. I'll be studying in the university of vienna =)

I'm really looking forward to visiting prague. and no, I don't think I need a visa to enter in those countries, as long as I don't stay there for more than 90 days. I'll check, though. thank you!
