This may sound like a stupid question, but what's a good place to experience rain? I'm looking for a nice, comfy, medium-sized city where I can hang out for a month or so and experience a moody, rainy scenery. Looking for maximum level of comfiness.

I've travelled around SEA during the wet season, and while it was fun, the combination of rain and jungle was tiresome after a while. This time I'm leaning more towards a european city. Any suggestions?

In the west of Ireland from October-March it rains almost all the fucking time. Beautiful scenery too, could be what you're looking for. Galway is the biggest city in the area

Pacific Northwest, USA

Seattle or Portland, Oregon

This.

Also the towns on the coast of Oregon might be a bit too small for you but
>maximum level of comfiness
describes them well in my opinion.

Realised you're looking for a city. Edinburgh has maximum comfiness. Amazing old buildings (the new town is older than the USA, the old parts are medieval). Lots of rain in winter. Very friendly to foreigners.
What more could you ask for?

I am in Edinburgh right now and it's raining. Heading to a comfortable pub to have some drinks with friends. I think Glasgow gets more rain (the wind has more bite in Edinburgh) but the rain never gets as heavy as it does in tropical areas.

Well seems like I have to go to Scotland now.
I needed an excuse to take a detour to the Bovington Tank Museum one day or another anyway.

Bump for more suggestions. Any rainy + comfy places in France, Germany, Austria? How about the balkans?

Bergen, Norway gets about 3x more rain compared to Edinburg. Cheap flights too, with Norwegian and KLM through Amsterdam.

eh, a whole month in Bergen might be stretching my budget a bit. I enjoy cooking and drinking, and quality ingredients and alcohol are not really cheap in Norway. But thanks for the tip anyways.
