I traveled fairly widely and I have quiet bad aspergers

people thought I was really weird everywhere, it was like "where's wally" in a lot of places I went to

I also found the organizational aspect caused me a lot of anxiety, flights, plans, timetables

but people were really helpful everywhere I went, and traveling was one of the best things I ever did

just don't take the "don't plan just do it" approach, you will stress out too much; plan things propperly in advance

socially you will do about as well anywhere, I didn't go to more parties or meet more people; realistically don't expect that to change.

If you just go in sightseeing mode, you don't really have to deal with people much, except for stereotypical interactions with hotel clerks and waiters at restaurants.

I tell you, when I went to spend a couple of weeks in Japan, I pretty much couldn't talk to anybody, but I still had a good time.

I am borderline asperger and i love to travel. Just plan a lot so you will have much less anxiety. Alcohol helps me a lot on the social part, of course depends on who you find.

I hate to be that guy, but aspergers isn't the same as being socially awkward

I have no experience with autism/asperger people, but traveling is worth it if you want to do it, regardless of any socio-economic situation you are in.

You fear you're going to be treated like shit... by whom? If you're planning on using couchsurfing for your lodging, make sure the hosts knows your situation.

Anyway, just travel, be on your own and stay at a hostel and you'll be fine. People might be friendly towards you or they'll just mind their own business. Rarely, if never, will somebody go out of their way to be unpleasant.

What aspects of traveling do you find daunting?

Here is my top 10 list of things I am frightened of

1. Judgemental airline hostesses. I find that at altitude and low air pressure my social anxiety becomes more intense. Whenever I visit my grandparents, who live in the hills, I don't say anything, they haven't heard me speak in 6 years, so I am scared of airline staff.
2. Not being able to order food. I only learnt to order pizza without breaking into a cold sweat and fainting about 1 year ago. How am I going to order food from a fucking foreign person?
3. Hostel bullies, pretty self explanatory
4. Accidentally racially abusing people. I used to share classes with a fellow from Brunei and thought he was my friend so everyday I call him 'the half moon-eye from Brunei'. He ended up reporting me
5. Being unable to find my suitcase at the airport. As my suitcase has several images of Timothy McVeigh taped to it I don't want security to see it
6. Being unable to find my hotel and having to ask for directions
7. Having to store my dirty clothes while I travel, I usually make my parents wash them within 2 hours
8. Being judged for going to McDonalds in whichever country I am in. McDonalds is my anchor. Around 70% of the words I speak are spoken there because it relaxes me so I'll have to visit.
9. Being judged for visiting game shops in other countries, I like vidya and don't want to seem like a loser for spending my holiday in game shops but they are key cultural sites to me

I am admittedly don't have aspergers like OP but i travel alone and I am very socially awkward, my biggest problems are talking to strangers and eating alone in restaurants (feeling judged)..
I find that countries where English is not the primary language is easier for me because it gives me an excuse to talk less.

I find dealing with foreigners to be easier than my own countrymen, as they're less likely to recognise you're being a sperg and might just assume it's a cultural difference/language barrier issue

Get a significant other who is opposite to your personality anon. It'll enable you to do all the things you want with the liaison who can talk to strangers, make friends with which to make plans, and get a more amazing experience. I was married to someone like you (undiagnosed and in denial of course, but proud of being an brilliant introvert) and I'm the type that can talk to someone at some building with my insane curiosity and worship of all things historical...and poof...end up on a private tour or getting cool things out of the chef in the restaurant. I hope you are not just trying to get "free" things for being a cute woman, because it's fine to admire that some people do waggle that charisma of prospective sex or admiration. Might try to do the fairly obvious thing to improve things, like smiling more often, caring enough to listen to other people's opinions, basic business etiquette, ya know? Make sure you are doing the minimum that society demands, please and thank you, and if you aren't, fake it until you make it. Once you've covered that read a book or two on your locales you intend to visit and actively seek out something that makes the experience richer. Don't wait for the fun to come to you. I don't agree that you're the exact same loser when you travel, you should be able to let go of some of the inhibitions through anonymity, but you do need to work on your skills. If love eludes you, befriend a player, so you can observe and emulate, or at least pick up the "friend" of the prospects.

it's not as bad as you think. I'm very picky when choosing one, I find that ones with curtains / your own private space are the best. Accessible lockers for my paranoia, a little lamp so I've got my own space within the dorm room etc

I think I'm borderline assburger's. I find it hard to make friends and talk in groups. I rent a lot of places out on AirBnB, and a lot of the hosts I've rented from end up hating me because I don't socialize with them or avoid them and act strange lol. They think it's couchsurfing or some shit.

I still get laid a decent amount, but rarely see the girls again. I'm talking about foreign girls whose first language is not english, so they can't tell I'm assburger.

My advice would be to travel, but do not stay in hostels where there will be Chads and lads on holiday. Don't go to bars. Meet foreign girls online.

I've always wondered this. If I moved across country and "start over", what would happen? Would I be more successful? Outgoing? No friends and family to judge you. A clean slate.

OP, why the fuck do you even think of going anywhere in this condition? Fuck, I never realized there actually are people entirely incapable of travelling. As the others suggest, you might take somebody with you, but you would be an enormous burden for them. Unless it's your girlfriend (inb4 no gf, yeah, that's the joke), they probably wouldn't be ready for this.

If you don't make friends easily at home or won't make them traveling either. But still travel. It wasn't till after my 3d big trip that I started to relax a little

I'm traveling alone for the first time and I wan't to enjoy. I could easily go to famous places and take pictures, order food and stay in the hostel the rest of the day, but I want to enjoy my travel.

What are some tips to interact with stranger in another country, I also don't want to talk with every person that passes by, I don't trust people enough, I don't want to get robbed or kidnapped.
