Anything good other than airline pilot/flight attendant?
>>
>>1061838
Military.

If you qualify to be a pilot Air Force, otherwise avoid AF like the fucking plague from this definitely go Army.
>>
>>1061839
US Navy us best for travel. Army is arguably the worst. They have a lot of bases (very few in Asia), but are so large your chance of getting the base you want diminishes.

Prostitute
>>
Merchant Marine, sail all over the world, most likely will never shoot at anyone or get shot at. Depending on what country you're sailing for you can make more money and have more unrestricted time off than being in the military.

Med's been pretty good for me

Business consulting

You don't like Turkey?
>>
>>1061850
No lie, this does seem to work.

Sometimes just for fun I browse escort ads in other countries, image my shock when every now and then I see one from my country.
>>
>>1061854
>Merchant Marines
They had the most casualties per capita during WWII, just sayin
>>
>>1061839
You have experience with Air Force? Why avoid other parts?
>>
>>1061863
but consulting is a meme career
>>
Paramedic/RN. If all goes well Ill be going to Antarctica in 2017.
>>
>>1061887
sounds cool! good luck
>>
>>1061874
Navy goes to Turkey is popular port for the Navy. Even when there is not a big US base someplace there is often still US Naval personnel there. Like Lisbon. Best easiest foreign base to get to for the Army is Germany. I reckon Korea, but most soldiers don't seem to like it there that much.

>>1061878

Though they tend to have higher quality of life (nicer facilities, which is less true now than ever), the way the Air Force is ran is kind of soul sucking. More corporation than military service. Very bureaucratic, political, and filled with tedium.
>>
>>1061887
Currently in school to be an RN. I'm looking into becoming a travel nurse, but do you know anything about opportunities abroad besides Antarctica?
>>
>>1061916
Not that person but you're pretty much good to go anywhere if your certifications are from a first world country. And even it they're not, your chances are still good.

Almost every decent country to live in needs more nurses
>>
>>1061916
>>1061920
This is why there are Filipina nurses everywhere

Underwater Welding

Do you still need a prophylactic appendectomy for Antarctica, or is it only the doctors?
>>
>>1061877
Yeah, WWII wasn't a good time to be a Merchant Mariner. A guy my grandma was dating was on two or three ships that were sunk and ended up switching to the Army. I'm sailing now and I got into it because I wanted to travel, I'll be backpacking around Asia for three months shortly, so it's paid off in my opinion. As long as we don't engage in a major conflict I'm not too worried

Excellent news! Thank you! I know the pay is probably shit, but I would love to work in South America for a year or two. I will do my research!

Diplomat/Ambassador

Pretty well paid and also allows you to travel on your country's expense. Also a very fulfilling job if you're into this field. I'm a senior foreign service officer myself and I absolutely love my job. I've been to over 50 countries on official assignments and also made enough money to travel to a plenty of other countries myself in my free time.

How do you get this gig?

how?
>>

Study Intl. Relations/Pol Sci/ Middle Eastern/European/American/Asian/Whateverian studies and get an internship at your local ministry of foreign affairs or whatever you call it in your country. It gets very easy from there if you work hard.

Alternatively, if you don't have the required education, start working for a NGO/IGO and work your way up. You can either stay there or attempt to get a position as a state official.

Also, you obviously should speak at least 3 languages (I speak Czech, English, Persian and Arabic).

currently working in housekeeping on a cruise ship.

pays around 2000yuros a month, no expenses.

been to the us, bahamas, jamaica, mexico... then transfered to european rivers: hungary, croatia, serbia, romania, bulgaria, germany, austria, france, switzerland, the nederlands.

not bad.
>>
>>1061997
What do you need to find work on a cruise ship?
Any sort of certificates?
>>
>>1062009
Nope. Just apply as you would on any other jobs.
But once you get it, you need a medical and maybe some sort of seafarer ID, which isn't hard to get, but you will have to invest a couple of hundred euros to get those.
>>
>>1062019
Just found one for a security guard. Amazing pay, no expenses like you.

I can imagine thats pretty much money for nothing, cant see much hassle on a shit full of old people!
>>
>>1062021
i always tell people they should just apply and try it out. worst case scenario, you work until you pay out your expenses and then quit.
>>
>>1062021
What company? Is there a website?
Don't worry I'm not interested in applying myself I can't do that sort of thing anytime soon. I have plans here. Just curious.
>>
>>1062043
Royal Caribbean.

Ive found quite a few so far with different companies. Either they are always looking for staff or this is recruiting season
>>
>>1061950
How did you get in this job? I'm from Argentina so I probably won't have the same oportunities as you but still curious anyway
>>
>>1061838
I'm a phd student and its pretty decent, if you're good you sent on a load of conferences.

I work in IT consulting for a major US software company. Legally, I have to keep my primary residence in the USA but can work anywhere with fast Wifi. There is some travel involved, but not anywhere too crazy. Atlanta, Chicago, NYC are biggies (I'm from Boston). Occasionally you might get sent to the EU or India. Most of these trips are a week long and happen every 2-3 months. Of course, the real benefit is the remote work- most recently I went to Mexico (Riviera Maya & Cancun) while working and had a blast.
>>
>>1061854
Waiting list is like 3 years if you're american. Way more sailors than ships out of the US. Most of them are out of the philippines or similar because they have a lower wage standard.

Could you discuss the steps you took to get a career like this and what your job entails in laymans terms? I want to work in the IT sector and the freedom you have to work anywhere you'd like is very appealing to me. Is this job lucrative?
>>
>>1062160
What does your daily work typically entail?
Research? Networking stuff?
Writing reports of some sort? I assume answering a lot of emails
>>
>>1062091
What is your area of study? How do you find the outlook for jobs post-graduation?

Got my B.Sc. in Finance & Accounting from a top American Uni (pic related), graduated with honors. Pretty diverse experiences in Uni too, I started clubs, did internships/coops/temp work at a variety of companies, etc. After graduating last spring, I interviewed at a ton of different companies in different industries, but as soon as I interviewed at a consulting company I knew it was for me. That company wasn't sure if they had the workload to bring me on, I interviewed with one of their competitors two weeks later and was hired. Specifically, I work with designing/ implementing finance and accounting software packages.
As for day to day work, it can be all over the place. Some days you spend 10+ hours in Excel, converting budgets from one format to another. Other days you're on the phone with tech support in India. And most recently, since the year is wrapping up, I've been training/ studying for a certification exam. It kind of goes with the territory that there's lots of emails, technical writing, and web conferences with so much of our work being remote.
As far as the $$$, I'm doing above average compared to those I graduated with. Of course the classmates that went onto Wall Street make more money than me but they also work 100 hour weeks and have to have apartments in Midtown New York. I'm pretty consistently at 40 hours, I think the hardest working of my coworkers get to 50-60, and their bonuses reflect that extra work as well. Coming from an accounting/finance background, I really try to keep my monthly expenses down so I have cash left for adventures. Except for my vices of course (cars, booze, & girls)

I highly doubt that ISIS has U-boats or M-class submarines. If they do, I'd be too impressed to care. The worst day you'd have as a merchant marine would be being caught in a hurricane or boarded by Somalian pirates and having to fight them off. But if you survive you'll have a story that'll make you drown in 7 miles of pussy every time you tell it.
>>
>>1062021

Make sure the cruise is somewhere near the arctic circle if you want a sleepy job with old people. But if the ship goes anywhere south of the Yukon, cruises are notorious for people getting shitfaced and causing Mardi Gras-level antics.
>>
>>1062244
computer science, so probably have better job choices than most PhDs
>>
>>1062261
Ill assume your the guy who gave me the idea in the first place, Did you have experience working in hotels before you got the job? Most of the ads i have found require years of experience in a 4 or 5* hotel just to clean them.
