Sorry for cutting off that last post, I had to do something and decided not to say a particular thing but didn't feel like making an edit to what I already had. That might be seen as a little rude, and you're right. I am a rude person.
I am not suggesting such a thing. I am not suggesting any language in particular.
What I am doing here is attempting to understand you and your current comprehension of solution development languages and your personal motive behind this pursuit of yours to learn a creative language and why C++ is your go to language of choice out of all of all the options available.
So I am merely prodding you out of boredom. Prodding you for information so that I could have a better understanding of you. So far I have learned you seem to have an inclination to network based software and your current understanding of why different languages exist is not great and could use some work.
Personally, I believe it is better to learn multiple higher level languages and only use low level ones when its relevant rather than autistically limiting yourself to one low level language because a board full of people that meme bad formation frequently convinced you of this idea.

Wait, are you serious?
You are limiting yourself to this one particular language? Very silly. I have a feeling you're not serious but just in case, don't do that. You likely have a good comprehension of the c style syntax by now and how execution works, how to invoke functions, the precedence of a functions invocation and such. All the basic things. You might not know it but you already know JavaScript in that case. One difference of many between the two is in JS, it is very loosely written, there are no variable types, a variable is only declared and stores pmuch anything. and there is a lot of asynchronous stuff going on and you have to watch out cause of that.
since you're not going to school for this now and it is mostly a hobby of yours then I would personally recommend picking up a derivative of BASIC.
BASIC an acronym for Beginners All-purpose Instruction Code and it's called that for a reason.
The language i used as an abstraction layer that still retains many of the low level concepts in lower level languages like C++.
Learning one of these languages is great for quickly picking up many useful concepts that can later be applied in C/C++ or whatever.
I would recommend Freebasic out of all of these.
I cannot quite remember for certain but if I do recall correctly, the syntax is very simple and it's easy to pick up and when you compile a basic desktop application, the result is usally a stand alone PE file (portable executable) with no dependecies and an average file size of 20-30 kilobytes. The code is also somewhat portable and can be compiled for execution on mac and linux I believe.
>>9943005
Is it nice to talk to someone about programing?
>>9943005
>ASIC an acronym for Beginners All-purpose Instruction Code and it's called that for a reason.
beginners all-purpose symbolic instruction code
woops
>>9943035
My understanding of various languages is very limited but just enough to render me able to create solutions in some. It is a subject that interests me. Mechanics interested me before computers, so naturally when I started using a computer, my desire was to learn how to create things and I took that path.
>>9942808
pinned down and pretty much fucked
a fitting image indeed
>>9943005
>I would personally recommend picking up a derivative of BASIC
Most BASIC variants are dead or dying. If you wanted to recommend a simple high level language, Python, Ruby, and JavaScript are all more practical approaches. That all said, effective usage of these languages does not translate to effective usage of C or C++. Knowing how to use C can make it easier to use other languages, but the reverse is not so much true. C++, on the other hand, is an odd ball. You honestly have to learn the C half first to understand why the C++ half is better, because otherwise you won't understand what anything is doing.
I generally tend to recommend beginners learn C first, and then learn a scripting language.

>>9943176

>>9943176
What do you normally do on the weekend?
>>9943124
Yeah, interest in them is dying but their application is for teaching people some programming concepts.
It is an entry level thing and not difficult to pick up.
If you aren't mentally impaired then you could pick up the language in hours and be developing things with it.
because he is not going to school for this, he doesn't have someone there telling him "this is good, but this isn't", so the process is a bit more difficult and learning this through making stuff with basic could help you get to a level "can do this" level uf understanding QUICKER than the other way in my opinion. At least that is how it was for me.
Also, yeah those are all good beginners choices as well but I was specifically recommending that one because my interest is development for the desktop.
and all of those (except JS) are not great languages for desktop applications and usually come with an interpreter that is megabytes in size and don't compile to a stand alone PE.
>That all said, effective usage of these languages does not translate to effective usage of C or C++.
I'm pretty sure that is not what I said and you're pulling off a Raptor and totally misinterpreting what was said. I am pretty sure I said it helps teach concepts that can later be applied or re-used else where.
I mean sure, nose diving right into the low level stuff is an option when you want to go all out, but as a hobby, I think most people like to dip their doe in the water first. A higher level language is a good way to do this, the choice is irrelevant to me.

>the singularity
>The technological singularity (also, simply, the singularity)[1] is the hypothesis that the invention of artificial superintelligence will abruptly trigger runaway technological growth, resulting in unfathomable changes to human civilization
While I previously knew what this meant, I had not read the Wikipedia definition of this. Having read it just know made me fucking lol and gave me a boner.
Not enough people have an interest in further developing things in their field. Like neural networks. There are some people who have an interest in them, but usually these people are idiots and never contribute and only try to use what others have created for their own benefit or to give off this pseudo "i am very smart" aura.
once we develop a fucking big ass complex awesome learning program capable of processing visual, audible data like an animal or human even, this would be fucking awesome.
I hope it will be open source and downloadable like a browser and all the setup requires is picking the cameras and audio input devices then it will be the next thing shipping with windows that people will be googling for how to disable it because they don't want their computer judging them

that concept is pretty neat. Seems cool but the application would have to fully understand a goal and how a certain arrangement of statements could help it attain this goal.
I don't see this being a thing because it somehow seems paradoxical. The only improvements a learning program could likely make to itself are performance improvements rather than improvements that would make it smarter in some way because you don't just code intelligence and how would the application know that?
the program could very likely just code itself into a fucking idiot and kill someone instead, are the improvements "speed and power?"
then the program might have this inclination to that and make itself into an idiot by optimizing itself so much that it ends up removing a lot of important functionality used in acquiring information
kinda reminds me of that neural network some guy trained to read c++ code files and then develop source code based on what it remembers source codes look like
it ended up making a function that defines an integer called "define_integer" and returned 1.

play along with what? you obviously make very bad observations in order to develop this terrible idea you have, I wouldn't trust you to make any kind of important decision if you come up with such absurd ideas with little to no information
>>9947212
>>9947077
that's okay I understand. pretty sleepy anyways and just wanted to stop in.
text me tho
>>9947230
>text me tho
... you don't respond
>>9947177
?
>>9947266
What are you getting at?
I just read the article and there is absolutely no information that there
>>9947266
He's talking about the no communication theorem
>>9947299
that there is some method discovered that could be used to transmit data with what they are doing
accidentally submitted that post
seems more like you guys are coming to conclusions based on little to no information and a lack of understanding on the particular subject
How the fuck does one break the light speed barrier in such a fashion anyway?
>>9947299
>>9947322
I thought that implied information transfer. Must've misunderstood then.
>>9947369
Currently there is no way to manipulate the other particle in order to transmit data, go find a way to do that.
>>9947352
you need a really long stick
>>9947314
Just checked it out. Thanks.
>>9947266
Oh, I see now.
Whoever write that article should stop writing because either they didn't care enough to get the right idea about what they are talking about or they intentionally wrote this shit to give off the wrong idea, the other particle doesn't manipulate the other one it is entangled with, you cannot stop one from doing thing and BOOM the other one suddenly does this thing too. their state properties are just synchronous and if you do something to the other one then the other one just keeps going and now they're both untangled iirc
>>9947230
Oh so it was you, well sorry for getting the wrong idea then.
Good night.
>>9947463
>>9947398
And a wizard hat?
>>9946706
Yeah, you try rewriting the Internet infrastructure. Everything in the OSI model from transport up is fine, but network and data link layers would need to be redesigned because 48 bit MAC addresses cannot scale to a galactic level. You get a grand total of 256 trillion physical hardware addresses for all devices, past and present. That old Apple II that's sitting in your attic collecting dust? A waste of a MAC address.
And any code using socket() explicitly mentions which version of IP it's using, so that would all need to be rewritten to use some theoretical IPv7 that isn't reliant on MAC addresses.
>>9947474
What is your special talent?
I think mine is my ability to piss off people. Just lookit blewberry everytime I post around it
Where is blewberry?
The thread feels unusually polite and nice when there isn't a 35 year old homosexual telling me how many friends I don't have and how everyone hates me.
>>9947576
Being happy.
>>9947551
I suppose you'd have to create a new internet entirely, from the bottom up, for space then.
>>9947602
I could do this in his stead.
>>9947602
I don't hate you
>>9947629
Hello Darwin
>>9947611
create new alphabet and numeric system because current one is limited to 10 characters and the other one only extends it by 26, new alphabet has millions of unique letters so a permutation of 2 offers enough possible combinations to address a galaxy
FUCKING DONE!!
>>9947660
What would you do, Skitty?
>>9947629
Did you go out with your friends today?
>>9947629
If you feel suitable for the position and like this kind of work as implied, then go ahead. what is stopping you?
>>9947679
what i just said. make a new alphabet specifically for this addressing task, just make it ridiculously large so that a permutation between just two octets, then three octets would have a ridiculously large permutation is going to be so high you could give every atom in the observable universe an address
>>9947655
Hey Pasta, how're you going?
>>9947629
How's your day been Darwin?
>>9947738
wow I mangled that sentence more than usual, I am fucking LOSING MY MIND
>>9947655
I do hate me.
>>9947738
Oh, I thought you were being sarcastic :P
>>9947764
You should post a picture of yourself.
>>9947744
I'm alright, how about you?
>>9947764
Have you been doing anything interesting lately?
I've been more inactive on bread than I want to be
>>9947655
Hi there. Did you wake up recently?
>>9947732
Yes.
>>9947738
Mostly laziness.
>>9947744
Quite decent, but it has left me somewhat exhausted.
>>9947859
about an hour ago, yes
Or maybe 2 hours ago
>>9947872
I was wondering where you were all day.
>>9947780
A scale as ridiculous as a galactic internet might require ridiculous solutions. Idunno. Can anyone else think of a way to address things with our limited language alphabet and numeric system? why not just use another language exclusively for that at that point. it would be like control codes that also have their decimal indexes on a computer. basically each letter in this post has its decimal index on your computer, or ascii code. 73 32 99 111 117 108 100 32 115 116 97 114 116 32 119 114 105 116 105 110 103 32 116 111 32 121 111 117 32 105 110 32 116 104 101 105 114 32 105 110 100 101 120 101 115 44 32 98 117 116 32 116 104 97 116 32 105 115 32 105 110 99 111 110 118 105 110 105 97 110 116 32 102 111 114 32 104 117 109 97 110 115 32 58 41
I mean I guess if you made a huge alphabet like that it would have ridiculously large ascii codes that are like really big numbers, that would probably be a problem then, so we'd need to make a new alphabet to handle those numbers
>>9947886
Did you miss me babe?
>tfw darwin admits he hates you and doesn't like you basically
well fuck you too then.
>>9947847
I'm good.
Just watching a movie.
Well I was, it just finished.
>>9947859
Mental fatigue from social interaction?

>>9947847

>>9947872
I would say you have the night/morning shift while I have the afternoon one, but I have not had the chance to be here all that much.
>>9947903
This is not something I stated.
>>9947913
The latter. Weekend should be more relaxing. What movie are you watching?
>>9947900

Molested by 11.
>>9947927
ARQ
It's kinda strange, but for a b grade movie actually pretty decent.
>>9947928
It was ARQ as above.
I just started watching Automata instead now.
I'm not sure I should be watching Dystopian movies like this considering my mental aptitude currently, but eh.
>>9947937
*places the weird on your head*
>>9947945
Never!
>>9947961
I liked it, yeah
>>9948132

>>9948187
>>9948209
You are lying to me.
>>9948147
They really are.
I've cancelled/skipped over at least half a dozen this week.
Though, sometimes they can be really awesome.
One of the series they have, travellers, I expected to hate and actually avoided it for months but out of sheer boredom at the start of the week I watched it.
fuckin really good.
Loved it.
>>9948211
Their series are generally quite good, like House of Cards and Stranger Things; it is with movies that they struggle. Hopefully the film Scorsese is directing for them will be one of the greats.
>>9948196
GET THAT OFF OF ME!!1
NO
Get it away
faggot
>>9948241
Noh. :3
>>9948210
Nah: noun: traditional Japanese masked drama with dance and song, evolved from Shinto rites.
