I didn't come to threads, because I was avoiding someone, but two days ago or something I didn't really care anymore, talked to them and we both apologised and now I guess I'll post here again.

I'm still at the same place and my relationship is the best. I've been good mostly, had a few ups and downs, but mostly good now. Went today to eat with my brother at my uncle's place as it's Ramadan so we're fasting and such

The plan now is to find some work! Which a couple of years ago was kinda easy, but now it's alot more difficult as oil prices have dropped meaning companies in the gulf countries aren't hiring as before... and here the market is pretty saturated atm, I remember when my brother graduated 10 years ago a company offered him a job right after he was done, that event is more of a dream here now lol

I might try in this country, or somewhere else, just gotta keep on trying and hopefully I'll find it something in time

And if I wanted to continue education, I'd have to go pursue a Masters in Engineering Management, or an MBA, but I really don't feel like getting back to the study life just yet lol

That's not something I enjoy, I prefer making tools and desktop application and only use C/C++ when my abstraction layer is too limited for the task at hand.

Developing such a thing in that particular language seems silly to me and the only reason I can see behind anyone doing such a counter productive thing is to create such software as a way to "boast" about your comprehension and skill in that language, it seems impractical to me. similar to someone trying to write a web browser in assembly.

you stated your motivation behind learning this particular language is performance but that's almost irrelevant in networking based applications given that it is not a crippling performance of course.

usually performance/speed of code is considered when it actually matters, such as when you are writing code that will process hundreds of gigabytes of data, you want it to do it in the least amount of time so that is good reason to consider performance and speed

shaving off 1 millisecond off a function that is called hundreds of thousands of times would equate to a very huge difference, hours, days maybe! in networking, all this is throw out the window because your code is only as fast as your clients connection... so you don't have much reason to consider these things.

php/nodejs is the correct language for these things because they are designed to handle this activity, C/C++ is the correct language for developing the interpreter that is used to make the software that is designed for this activity. sure you can do it, but it's impractical, end result might be slightly better, sure, but at what cost? the cost is that even though you understand the language better than anyone else, you will still have to develop a ridiculous amount of code for this and no one else will want to work on your project due to its compplexity

that is a lot of code, each statment of PHP code is an abstraction layer from the code it was actually written in, you're instructing tons of C/C++ code with each line of code in these files

you will have to write every single routine for everything

it's using MySQL ... so it is moving that workload off to that database engine.... this renders your "it's made in C++ to be faster handling this amount of things"
