No, that's spot on. It's just generic fantasy garbage. I played every single FF game from 1989 up to 2002 and they stagnated as a whole after the Enix merge. Every game after FFX is just a rehash of the same visuals, themes and everything. I can't look at anything FF related nowadays without literally feeling disgust.

Even the "open" world and most raids are blatant hallways. I actually wouldn't mind dungeons and raids being somewhat linear because that's less of an offense for instanced content.

But god damn, the world is composed of cleverly disguised hallways, and sky-hallways. Honestly one of the biggest MMORPG sins as far as I'm concerned. I understand that WoW spoiled us a long time ago with its very open world, but even games since like GW2 where each area is instanced as well feels infinitely more open because they actually put effort into map design.

I'll go back to WoW sometimes just because the world always feels so much more immersive to me, but I have nobody to play/rp with these days so it's often short lived. PvP is also pretty gutted right now, but at least it'll never be as much of a shitshow as FFXIV's PvP.

I'm not sure how recently they tried fixing it, but I was playing about... 4 months ago last? PvP was more balanced than it had been in the past but the game still had so many fundamental problems like the awful hitscan gaps due to the crazy high server polling, and lots of matchups just had zero counterplay. I also always hated how in an attempt to add PvP to a game not meant for PvP they added all these skills and alternate effects to actions that aren't present in PvE, so much so that lots of jobs have to be played in PvP in a way that none of your PvE knowledge will help you. That's a personal gripe though, most people disagree with me, but that's a tic that WoW gave me a long time ago, which blizzard then shat all over with Legion.
The HW zones are definitely less offensive but they're still pretty bad.
At least they look pretty. FFXIV has a kickass lighting engine.
Unfortunately, I'm not sticking around for stormblood. I hear they're fixing the action bloat a bit, so that's nice.

pvp literally changed 2 days ago, they pretty much separated it from pve, your hotbars swap to pvp hotbars when you enter a pvp area and specific skills can be chosen from a list instead of the cross class stuff. Theres still silly things like melee limitbreaks pretty much locking on as soon as they start casting but its all around better than before imo.

I don't see any real issues with the zone layouts from heavensward and stormblood. They're big open areas that have loading zones but those loading zones have to be there for ps4 I guess.

Don't worry anon, you're correct. If you haven't been soaked into that sort of decade long bliz retainment strategy then you won't be able to enjoy the timegated grinds to the next shiny shiny. Some would say that 7.2.5 would be the second coming of christ but it seems to be more of the same. Artifact power was a mistake.
The only reason any sane person would still be playing Legion is for any sort of community. And even then that tends to be filled by rejects and the bad type of degenerates. But that's just me >implying. I enjoyed Legion from the start all the way until now but it eventually turns into doing the same exact bullshit over and over again without any of the satisfaction of what an MMO should give you. There are so many other games that can scratch that mmo itch and it's not like we can hope for a good warcraft 4.

Man, this is really what bugs me about Legion. Make me fetch a million bear asses for my reward, not a thousand per turn-in with each turn-in having a 1% chance of a reward. But I guess it is a sign of the times where WoW is turning to emulating eastern MMOs like Black Desert or ArcheAge and the western style a la. WoW and Runescape just isn't paying the bills any more.

Yeah, I do. My enjoyment of the game is heavily dependant on the mythic keystone modifiers for that week. For example, this week wow is pretty ok. Last week it was shit.

Though the new raid is pretty cool. Haven't gotten past the first boss since the guild hasn't gotten together for a guild run yet so we've mostly had to fill the group with randoms who don't know what to do, so we end up dying on the second boss.

I dunno, often in RPGs levelling is the most fun thing, like when you hit a new level and unlock something. But the grind for AP before you build up a decent Artifact Knowledge level sucks.

Now it's a hell of a lot faster but it's still too grindy, especially when you get to the higher levels.

Legion is filled with a lot of grind. There was one quest that took 2 months to do because you needed 80 of something and could only get 10 a week, for no reason other than to keep people p(l)aying for longer.

Bursting and quaking are two of the worst, especially when DPS can't stop attacking for a couple of seconds to let the stacks drop off.

Not sure who Darknest is to be honest. But I think them being just generally on the lower end of the classic models, then comes Worgen, then Pandaren, and when you have all these relatively beautiful races it's easy to overlook them. But with the model update too, femtaurs got some six-pack abs going on, and I think generally speaking fat as a preference is more common then muscle women. Talking completely out of my ass, of course. Also don't worry, people still do spoilers here even though they don't work for the meme, no one will judge.
