The way I see it is that the person you are is the way you think and the opinions you have and the memories you've collected, if those were to change, especially the first 2, the person you are ceases to exist, there is now a new person in your body and and the old you is gone. It isn't necessarily a bad thing if its organic or you allow yourself to change, it becomes more like reincarnation or transcendence. But if something happens where it's abrupt and not sanctioned by you then that means you were just murdered, and there is someone else in your body and you are now thinking with their brain. You just became someone else.

I see this as watching someone slowly lose themselves and become a new person. I don't see a particularly large difference between this and breaking someone's will or brainwashing them.

I don't really see beliefs or memories as particularly threatened, at least.
As for ways of thinking, I just think those can change very quickly, and rarely truly intentionally. Think, like, pregnancy or something. That doesn't kill the mom because of brain changes even though it can have a big effect on how she thinks. And I'd say you're overstating the amount Kass's thought processes have changed. He's had a few moments where some yingletiness has shown, but there's not evidence to say he's profoundly changed in how he thinks about everything.

I'm still disappointed that the /co/ thread was deleted again since I was having a discussion in it about the underlying cause of Kass' behavioral changes is more about his new brain chemistry and the trauma of the transformation than being made female.

Once he has time to actually sort through his issues, he'll probably begin recognizing that he's still "himself" despite the new compulsions.

The only thing I can think of that feels similar to this is that one manga about the high school boy who gets turned into an elementary school girl and the first thing he does after freaking out is complain about how high energy he is now, like being on caffeine all the time.

Right, I don't think we'll see Kass get all identity-deathy, but I think it's obvious the story is heading in a direction of an identity shift at the very least. Maybe even hinting at identity death as a possibility (but not the outcome).

Keep in mind, Val could change the story at any time, make new character, show us other places. We don't even know what caused Kass to change, what if there's more of that out there or something.

Yeah, Kass's constant humiliation seems to be one of the primary themes of the comic. I'm still unsure if the point is to think he somehow deserves it, or if we're supposed to see him as a victim. I'm kinda leaning towards "victim", since he seems like he was an alright guy prior to his transformation.

I don't think this is an identity shift, just adapting to the new bullshit that is his life.

I mean, we don't have too many points of reference for Kass. How was he when he was still a merchant compared to how was he in the war compared to the brief glimpse we had of him has a human refugee compared to how he is now?

People change a lot when forced to adapt to their environments, so not every action Kass makes should be wholly attributed to his new biology is what I'm saying.
We don't know how much of this is Kass' normal ability to cope with the situation.
