This video does go into the "The monster is real" idea a little too much though, as supposed to "The monster is fake and made up by the cult". I guess either way the metaphor still works, but one explanation is a lot more gratifying than the other.

I think their relationship is a bit more healthy than I made it out to be. Angus is genuinely grateful to Gregg for being there for him, but makes it clear that he likes Gregg for reasons other than that. Gregg however probably is entirely reliant on Angus and his friends for some degree of stability. I haven't played through Gregg's path yet but I haven't seen any mention of treatment for his, presumed, bi-polar disorder. It is definitely a difficult relationship, one I've seen play out several times to varying degrees of success, but like I said I think they'll make it.

That seems to be a big theme of the game. Dr. Hank is repeatedly stated to be a shit therapist. On that note Mae's journal seems to align with common treatments for dissociative disorders, although it is supposed to be paired with therapy and drugs.

It's not impossible, but generally after high school people start working towards building a career, and most high school couples are together because of proximity, and when people start branching off into doing things they enjoy they start to meet other people doing the same that they have more in common with. I think Angus and Gregg would stay together because they're working towards construing a life with each other, but generally high school love dies after high school.
