There just wasn't much time, and definitely a lack of interest, so she became a generic love interest. An attempt was made in Assault, but I dunno, Assault fucked up so much I can't say it helped anything in her character.

I have to admit, the amount of porn involving Krystal and Fox together is somewhat disappointing. Some artists like Sindoll only ever seem to want to draw her getting raped by dinosaurs, and if Fox is involved it's to emasculate him and have him play the part of the faithful cuck.

I don't have a problem with Krystal being paired with characters other than Fox. I have no reason to feel threatened by it, and Krystal is a very popular character who fits well into all kinds of erotic scenarios. It's just a bit disappointing that for all the porn of her, there isn't much quality stuff of her with her canon love interest even though they're both popular characters.

I'm guilty on the dino thing myself, though I took it further by involving Katt and the other two. Even tried to make out a plot so it isnt just "oh look it's Krystal, Katt, Miyu, and Fay being fucked by dinos". You could even view it as a "bad" ending too if you wanted.

At this point Starfox is dead and the only way we'll get a good one again is through a fan made knockoff.

Saying Krystal is symbolic of the downfall of the series like it's a fact in every thread is retarded, as symbols by nature are subjective and differ from person to person. Perhaps krystal is what is symbolic of the downfall of the series to you, but to me, it's Peppy.

The ending of Assault was the moment I knew that Starfox had suffered a blow it would never recover from, that nintendo was going to fuck with the story in all future installments and that it was going to be a fucking mess... and it has been.

When I look at Krystal in her shiny blue jumpsuit, I see Assault's promise and good ideas, however few and far between. When I see Peppy, I see Nintendo's inability to let go of the past and how they meddle in the story department instead of letting other developers write their own take. Remember it was Peppy who saved Pepper and Peppy who had the heroic not-sacrifice that ended the game on a wet fart and actively ruined Fox's character, setting him up to be the pussy he is in Command.

But that's just my opinion.

Real talk tho, for me it went downhill when it came to Adventures because they had literally nothing for the series. It wasn't a Star Fox game, no matter how you try to cut it up, they had nothing planned for the series, they had no care or dedication in it, they just wanted another brand to come back like Zelda and Mario, and Sunshine was no prize chicken either.

That's why I knew it was over, they didn't even try to do their own thing, they slapped it onto a different game, filled it with plotholes, turned Fox into a moron, turned Pepper into a moron, somehow made Slippy more annoying, retconned everything of accomplishment about SF64, it was just a mess.

Assault tried to put effort into it, but it was cheap effort if that makes sense. 64 was simple enough that it was easy to just grin at the silly banter, but it took itself and the world serious enough to have things feel like threats. In Assault, the dialogue, the way they butchered Star Wolf, I mean I won't say it's all bad but there was more than a fair amount of cringe moments.

Command doesn't even need to be brought up, it's so easily dismissed. They put no effort into the 3DS port, and Zero was a borderline tech demo for the shitty motion controls.

From Adventures on it told me they weren't really willing to take it with any amount of seriousness again. I mean even canning SF2 was unfortunate, they axed the people that really cared about the damn thing.

I wouldn't say there's no hope for the series. As has been stated, there would just need to be some actual effort put into it.

If there's one good thing Zero did, it is, ironically, the resetting of the timeline. Now, it becomes possible to play around with the established elements in new ways. With a new continuity comes a blank slate.

Take Krystal, for example. They can pretty much do anything they want with her, now--backstory, characterization, all of that is open to new interpretations. Like, say they made her an antagonist--or hell, made her whole race of blue-furred fucks the new antagonists--that could open up a whole range of possibilities for gameplay and characterization.

But, again, this would require effort and dedication, and especially someone with a creative vision at the helm.

Well, that was just an example of how they could reinvent her character. But to delve into the rabbit hole, casting her as an antagonist could lead to interesting places, and would certainly give her more agency as a character right off the bat.

When I say "antagonist" I don't automatically mean she'd be a cackling villain or, god forbid, would call herself "Kursed", but if she were a pilot (or perhaps an enemy ace) in some new force out to conquer the Lylat System, that immediately gives her a solid starting point for her character to develop. A soldier has motivation, has justification for their skills, and has reason to be opposed to the protagonists--all three things a good character, and especially an antagonist, needs as a foundation.

From that foundation, her conflict and interaction with the team practically writes itself, especially if the storyline has her gradually coming around to their side. Her presence would also serve to characterize the antagonistic force as a whole, whether they be honorable, fanatic, or fanatically honorable, adding depth to the conflict.

Of course, in order to express all of this, you'd need to shake up the Star Fox formula quite a bit. Like, you'd need to give the player the ability to run around Great Fox or otherwise provide for some interaction with the characters in between missions. Think Mass Effect and how you could hang out on the Normandy--something like that.

Fair enough, as far as voices go, I prefer his old voice. It made him sound like, I dunno what a pilot would sound like, a dangerous pilot. Willing to kill you but very calm and collected about it for the most part. New voice just sounds like someone that shouldn't even operate heavy machinery.

That said, voices aren't everything, his personality is more or less the same, though peaked with just, a more loose cannonly tone. The problem I have with putting too much stake in voices is, that's why everyone loves new Wolf. His character is utter shit, and honestly if you think about it for more than a second, he's honestly either completely retarded or completely insane, but ohh boy, he's got such a deep gruff voice, so good guis, what a great character, he sounds deep and they wrote him to force spout off nonsense "advice" what A GREAT CHARACTER GUIS!

Your description of her you keep pushing is accurate... to the Adventures version of her. But assault actually gave her a personality that was persistent through the next game in the series, command.

As always when talking about the personalities of Star Fox characters there's really not too much to go on, most of them are very one-note and Krystal is no exception. However, Assault retconned her from a slutty space witch to a Psion who acts reserved but is actually very passionate, maintaining a smug exterior until something forces her to drop the act and she loses her shit.

Effectively, this desire to see her "Looney Tunes Show-ized" already happened... in her second appearance 13 years ago.
