So, is it normal for people to whine and mope about how they can't find any motivation to create things because they're not good?
Which in turn is caused by them not creating things?

Just thought I'd ask before I make a complete fool out of myself is all.

>"Report that several riots broke out overnight in the Sahara district. Police sources confirm twelve arrests and three hospitalizations. Further-"

>Stu Hopps flicked off the radio, unable to bear hearing any more. Every day was worse and worse; first there had been panic, then anger and now full-blown riots in the city streets. He'd been terrified when Judy had left that she might come across a single fox in an alley somewhere. Now, watching the news reports, he wondered what a mob of enraged sheep could do. He hadn't yet seen his daughter in any of the footage, but it was horrifying all the same. They pushed and shoved and punched and kicked, attacking predators, officers, each other... It was as if there had been a hidden pool of hatred just waiting to well to the surface.

>And he couldn't help but wonder too, if somehow he hadn't caused it all. He knew that Judy's.... contentious press briefing had started it all, but she'd done no more than parrot the words he himself had said so many times before. And she wasn't willing to talk about it either; she'd always been so open and defensive of predators, but now...

>He sighed. And of course if prey were capable of doing such things it made a mockery of his ideas of predator violence. He just wanted to turn the clock back, just long enough to warn himself about the coming storm. But it was too late now; his Jude was facing down enraged rhinos in the streets and whatever was going to happen would happen. He kept driving down the dusty road, trying to concentrate on business, keep his mind off of personal matters. He had a delivery to make after all, and a Hopps never disappointed! He'd already sent two dozen crates of carrots off to the Bounders over Rabbiton way, and he had a stack more to the Golden Meadow Hoppses that afternoon (Oddly enough no relation.) but inbetween he had a small delivery to make to...

>Of course, Gideon Grey.
>>
>>9447862
>here to recharge your batteries.
That's an interesting way to put it, if I could convince myself that's what I'm doing, maybe my friends wouldn't be so worried?
I know I can't leave, I just hope I can concentrate a bit more on my building once I've recovered.
Oops, too many clues ;)
>>
>>9447946
>He sighed. He was already there, and in a terrible state of mind to be so. He could see Sylvia, standing out by the gate, one of her little cousins in tow, awaiting his arrival. She was being stubborn again, insisting on helping with deliveries specifically just to defy him. Possibly he deserved it. He pulled up, not bothering to make his way up the somewhat twisty driveway and let his daughter remove the handful of crates from the back of the truck, walking off slowly and unsteadily with them but, as usual, refusing any help. He'd never seen anyone carry things aggressively before. He watched her slowly making her way to the shed-cum-bakery not too far away, being rather surprised by a loud knock on the side of the truck. It was Gideon himself, looking rather more tired and rather less imposing than the rabbit remembered. It was strange how one slouch could cut a foot of someone's height.

>"So uh, four crates of carrots, pickup?"

>"Yes, indeed. Uh, Sylvie's got them."

>"Wait what? She's here?!"

>"With her cousin Harriet, Marsha's- well anyway, she's here."

>"I didn' even notice! Didn' hear a peep outta anyone."

>"She probably just showed up to make the delivery. You know what she's like... I think. And wit the whole Zootopia thing..."

>"Yeah..."

>"Oh and uh, I'm sorry your shop didn't get planning permission."

>"Y' heard about that? Guess it's f'r the best; things are really a mess over there."

>"I know... and I can't help but feel responsible."

>The fox stared, somewhat shocked. There was no possible link he could see between the older farmer and the current tensions in the city. He was aware... painfully aware of Judy's role in the whole thing of course, but that reflected more on him than anyone, he was sure.

>"I dunno Mr. H; can't say I've done much in my life to make people think any diff'rent."

>"Maybe. But I think perhaps I should've raised her- Judy that is, better. I haven't done anything in my life to think any different either."
>>
>>9448001
>There was a long, thoughtful pause.

>"S' now what?"

>"Honestly, I don't know. I... Maybe we start with a clean slate? We're sort of in business after all, so it might be best to move on."

>"Yeah... I guess."

>"Plus it'll hopefully keep Sylvie outta your hair before she gets really serious."

>"This ain't serious?"

>"Not by half, believe me. So...call it even?"

>The gray rabbit reached a hand out through the open window of the truck. Gideon stated at it for a second before grabbing it and giving a single, firm shake. They didn't say anything after that; Stu Hopps simply wound up the window and drove off. But a deal had been made and an understanding reached. Whatever was going on in the city, here at least things could perhaps be a little more peaceful And that made him feel quite a bit better, despite everything.

You should figure out the characters first, then write appropriate conflict, not write the characters so they would have that conflict. The way you do it will end up contrived and obviously forced.
>>
>>9448639
That's what I'm trying to do. Bonnie and Stu are pretty solid on reasons to dislike, but for Ms. Wilde who is a blank slate, coming up with it seems tricky.
>>
>>9448582
As >>9448639 said, you should come up with how the characters are. From what we know in the movie, Mrs. Wilde didn't have the easiest time raising Nick by herself, probably worked low-paying jobs, and we could only guess her reaction to the Junior Scouts. Come up with a personality that would arise from those experiences, and other events that would happen later (Nick's hustling, whether she talks to her son or not, the three month predator scare). After you come up with a character that has dealt with those events, then think "How would Mrs. Wilde react to her son dating a prey species, a bunny that has hurt him in the past and caused the predator scare?"

This is the highbrow rhetoric I want to see this fandom tackle more, right now it is infested with mentally inept childish stories. I wonder if Borba has been writing, since he left the movies. Both characters show their failing natures as humans, their personalities shining through their arguments, it really reflects the couple I fell in love in theaters. Has there's been a visceral work on this fandom than this? I mean, not including the scholarly "Trials and Tribulations of a different kind", I honestly believe this is the most level headed mature discussion of a topic that is so controversial. Before such work coming along, I honestly could not see both sides, but now I know how this goes. Borba must have witnessed this kind of argument several times in his life, and even if it isn't pretty, I'll have to quote Judy on this: "Real life is messy, and we all make mistakes". I honestly can't see how this ends, no matter the conclusion, the reflection it brought with the controversial topic is enough to make this one of the most memorable comics of the fandom. Let's hope he offers a printed version once it is done, I'd love to purchase one.

meh...

Both Nick's and Judy's argument is emotional without much logic. They both play with the "what if" game which is the worst type of argument.
J-It could be dangerous for me
J-It could cost me my carrier
J-It could be a monsterous mix of us
N-It could be a hero like you

In a realistic situation they would be looking for a doctor at this point, not argue with pointless stuff like this. on to see what are the chances actual chances. Still...

It's an amazing comic, the only people who dislike it just parrot shit like "WAAAH IT'S OOC, WAAAH SHE HIT HIM #MGTOW, WHY ISN'T HIM LEAVING HER, WAAAH JUDY DOESN'T JUST ACCEPT HAVING A KID, WHYYYYY WILDEHOPPS IS ALWAYS PERFECT". Right now it's the only thing going on worth noticing, the rest is already the beaten path stuff which quite frankly I'm sick of already.

Great art, amazing pacing always delivering some development, expressive characters, solid plot, characters behaving like both are emotionally invested rather than spreadsheet checking nerds talking about percentages and whatnot. I'd be disappointed if this went the "go over to the doctor, find out they are ok, sure let's have a baby" route, they need to have this discussion to understand how each other feel better. Anything else seem so non-passional and just schedule.

Talking about that, do you think in Zootopia there would be sport divisions between species or would everything be together? Additionally, would "running all fours" be considered a sport much like running bipedal?

that's my most annyoing problem with this comic.
Judy made valid points that it would be more reasonable for them to discuss, but Nick completly ignored those points and Judy just goes past them, stating that her carrier is more important than the probablity of her DEATH. Lazy lazy writing.

>In a realistic situation
In a realistic situation both Judy and Nick would have had this discussion way before if hybrids existed, used birth control and on the offchance Judy got pregnant by a defective condom, both sides would have already know each other opinions on the matter of children. If we're going "they have rabbit/fox biology" a step further, Judy wouldn't even get pregnant by mistake.

I don't get Nick argument, though. Should the child only be allowed to live because they have a chance to turn out to have a meaningful life? Would they look back to this day and say "damn, I should have aborted them" if they turned out to be a sadistic self-loathing alcoholic at 15 due to some shortcoming in life?

I think the point will be more about their effect on it:

>Judy: How can you be sure that it will turn out to be like this? What if he or she will grow up to be a bad person.
>Nick: If it will depend on us... to be there... to give guidence when needed... I know that we are the kind of mammals that can help it become the best mammals he or she can be.

^I expect something like this...

An anon posted before (when the page was released) made me think if this would be brought back later to make the comic 'impartial' on the matter. Judy and Nick argue, Judy doesn't want it, doesn't want to kill it either, abloo bloo bloo I'm a good bun. Nick keeps reassuring her, eventually manages to give her enough courage to do it. Meet doctor, they tell them she'll probably be safe, but there are pretty nasty chances of ending badly, Nick isn't so sure anymore, Judy steels herself for his sake and is now reassuring him. Cut to birth, Judy did end up having complications, Nick is devastated. He asks the doctor and he says she could be impaired for life, with some possibilities of cutting all her life work and dreams short and making Nick hate himself for convincing her, etc etc abloo bloo. They meet in the room, Judy is holding their kits tired, both are happy but Nick brings up how he's sorry for everything, how he ruined her life after she saved his, abloo bloo bloo I'm good foxo. Judy cuts him short and tells him that it was her choice too, and she's happy with it, even if it costed her an early promotion and might impair her. Nick and Judy who started with a brazen set position shifts to the other side as it develops and insecurities rise. They hold their kits together, title drop for maximum cheesiness by Judy, Nick follows up saying it too when she brings some family matters up.

But right now I don't think it'll ever happen.

MY CAREER
DOMESTIC ABOOS
WHAT IF IT'S THE NEXT EL BYRON, JUDY

>characters behaving like both are emotionally invested rather than spreadsheet checking nerds talking about percentages and whatnot.
far more emotionally invested, I'd argue, than canon has shown either of them to be.

>I'd be disappointed if this went the "go over to the doctor, find out they are ok, sure let's have a baby" route, they need to have this discussion to understand how each other feel better.
Cooling down and seeking professional input would be the mark of a healthy, logical, supportive relationship, where each acknowledges the limits of what they know, and reassures the other that they're most concerned with the safety and health of ahhahahaha

>Anything else seem so non-passional and just schedule.
this isn't a coherent sentence

To be fair Judy is portrayed badly too. If she would put more weight on the actual dangers instead of her carrier, I would side her... but at this point I am with Nick too, because there is no garantee that the child will effect her carrier negativly at all.

Mixed bag. Art gets a lot more in depth criticism there than fics, I think the faster nature of a chat program fits drawing criticism better than the slower pace of the threads. Writers try to get people to read their stuff but I think the success rate is the same in these threads, probably less because Comic doesn't hang out there.
But I feel you the constant discussion bullshit makes me not want to visit the threads. Especially when new art, new greens, new fic updates, anons introducing themselves, older posters asking whats happened since they left, they all get ignored because people want to take the bait.
People say "take a break from the threads or visit it every other day", but then the threads slow down, nobody's checking it anymore, nobody response to stuff being posted... except for the people who live and die by making and responding to bait.
Shit sucks.
>>
>>9449430
When it comes to private detective stuff only one thing comes into my mind:

One of the original "assumed" premise of Zootopia was that Nick was a private detective hired to find a loved one and is forced to work with Judy when they find out that their cases have something in common

It could be that Nick only doing it for the money and that's the base of the conflict between them, but at the same time, nothing would be different enough to make an interesting green to write... at least for me...

I'll see if I come up with anything else...
>>
>>9449620
PI Nick seems like an interesting idea. Reminds me of the Wilde's Card fic where he's a smarmy detective.

Neither Judy nor Nick are in-character AT ALL for this comic. And I like how Borba tried to play it off with a vaguely worded statement that more or less said "this situation didn't happen in the movie so you can't say it's out-of-character" so that confirmed he's a hack to me.

The thing about that is Nick, while sensitive to an extent, also has pretty good control over himself. The only time he panics is in life-or-death situations. Even in the one scene of legitimate anger, the press conference, Nick never raised his voice, he never physically struck out; he simply asked Judy, the one person in a long time to believe in him, whether she truly trusted him. Even when her answers hurt, he restrained himself, only faking an attack for a reaction out of Judy.

Considering all the other scenes in the movie that showed Nick cared for Judy (standing up for her, willing to become her partner on the force, forgiving her and trusting her not to get them killed) the reasonable reaction from Nick should be frustration but also concern; he should definitely care about the life of his child, but also should care about the feelings and life of his best friend, partner, and girlfriend. Yet there is none of that, only "YOU MUST LET THIS BABY LIVE!"

Hello ztg, i have some ideas for this next TT, and i want to decide wich one should i take:

-First one is based on Zootopia, but the background of Proto-zootopia, giving a sense of someone spying from the top of the roof (could be Judy or Nick)
-The second one is more simple, just Nick under the bridge, being a very unprofessional private detective

Which should i go, ztg?

Like... does he actually believe the shit he's saying and he'd be saying the same to some stranger, or is he just being selfish because it's HIS unholy spawn that Judy is carrying and he's using every trick he can think of to let HIS kid live?

Because at this point, I don't know which option is worse.

I think we're all forgetting that Judy is seriously OOC here too. In the movie she was willing to end her career on principle, even when asked to use her image to make the city better. In the comic, her career and image is literally the most important thing.

She's career oriented, but has higher principles than just that.

We don't know who we're supposed to sympathize with, if there's someone at all. Yes Nick is using a tired old argument, but Judy will probably rebut it and so on. Only when the damn thing ends we will have a full picture.

Maybe he should have released the entire thing at a time. This way, he's attracting the fury of absolutely anyone with an opinion on abortion.
>>
>>9450992
I doubt anyone has really forgotten about Judy, just at the moment the focus is on Nick. We have already discussed Judy; the counter argument for this Judy is that, in the movie, being a cop was mainly just a way for Judy to help make the world better. She didn't care about fame or image, and the idea that she thinks she is "an inspiration" for shorter mammals goes against her speech at the end of the movie; everyone makes mistakes, no one is perfect, but we can all put aside our differences and work together to make the world a better place, starting with you. It is a complete 180 for Judy to go "Oh, these mammals will never get the courage to go after their dreams if I am not there as a shining light!" when it is up to the individual to work at it.

Judy was fucked over so hard by this comic I honestly feel bad for her. Character actions reduced to "hysterical woman", motivation shifted from "I urge you, make the world a better place" to "Us little guys have to stick together! Underestimated, underappreciated. Aren't you sick of it?!", energy and explosive actions turned into a reason for her hitting her best friend, partner and boyfriend while performing the boring "gasp i didnt mean it", the fact she acts before thinking justifying "yeah im going to abort and i dont care about you, stick with me because i need you" while everyone says 'its in character' 'that's the true judy!', "i know you'll never forgive me, and I don't expect you to" turned to "I STILL love you, you don't need to leave!".

But anon! Don't you know, despite the fact that predator and prey have lived together for generations upon generations upon generations, Judy and Nick are the ONLY TWO IN EXISTANCE who've managed to have sex and create the world's first hybrid?

Shit I actually like this, this is meaningful, shows that he doesn't just believe in the kid's goodness but their abilities and goodness and at the sime time does not deny the possiblity that it can go wrong...

too bad borba doesn't own the writing skill/life experience some anons here do.

>>9451429
>Judy Nick first pred/prey couple that has kid
It's actually a basic mistake most fans do with their work only because it makes Judy and Nick "more special" despite the movies message, that you don't have to be special to achive great things. But making them one of the first few hundred pairs wouldn't deflate the message of their story at all.
>>
>>9450945
If I wouldn'T be a lazy fuck and too afraid of the rage of borba's fans, I would DRAW my own version of his comic

Probably not, almost all of their focus seems to be on Forest Tails which, considering that they consistently update every Thursday, I am fine with. I would like to see them do more Zootopia stuff, but I enjoy FT a lot. We are sooner to get FT lewds than Zootopia lewds... which would be a little bit awkward.

I believe there are a few generic engines for these types of games, and they're basically an asset mill for adsense.
>>

I can think of only two, and both eventually got put on many peoples' shit list.

Dot's Skye "Anti-cuck" comic is still given a bit of respect, but there are still some started leaning towards hating it due to Nick hooking up with Skye and Judy being the new miserable abloo bloo bloo.

Comic's Miserable Losers was given a lot of kudos initially, then it received such a backlash that I don't think one single person has admitted to initially liking it nowadays. Because to get WildeHopps, both Nick & Judy had to be miserable enough to compromise to be with each other, at the expense of the universe opening its collective ass and shitting all over them.

>>9451898
You sweet child. Sadly, this shit's escaped from Dress Up Who, and is infesting Youtube now.

>>9451949
I'll go ahead and say I enjoyed miserable losers when I first read it and I'm still ok with the story now. It accomplished what it set out to do

>>9451949
weaver did tiwtlll joke/parody too. Nick walking in to see that the kit is his... or a second version where it's... clawhausers, if I remember well.

The one where Judy bargains with Nick to marry her with lots of bunny sex.

yeah there two.

Also yeah, I hated the anti-cuck abloo making Judy the miserable instead...
>>
>>9451949
The dumb bunny comic or whatever its called was just the same shit that Sprinkah pulled, a semi OC comes in and fucks up Wildehopps. The only difference is that you're supposed to feel a sadistic pleasure in Judy being sad she can't have Nick I guess. It felt less like a story and more like a fuck you to that universe's Judy.
ML was well written. I can give it that. But like you said it took Nick and Judy and beat them down so hard that they were just pathetic, Judy is a tired stay at home mom whose family abandoned her for having kids out of wedlock and Nick got divorced after having a kid and the kid blames him for it. They went from super cops to jaded single parents and then decided to fuck.
I guess it does give closure but why did we have to get to that point anyway? Was there a need to do all that at all?
>>
>>9451949
>>9452051
There was some writing choices I didn't care for in ML, like Nick repeating "just my luck" too many times in a very close proximity of use (rule of thirds is fine, but it needs to spread out to work), and Judy's wailing meltdown seemed a bit too far.
But overall I liked the story itself, the scene with the kids in the kitchen was solid and the ending was sweet.
ML doesn't really deserve the hate it gets.

I think its time we stop being gay

Kids scene was the best part by far, lots of moving pieces and they all tied up pretty well wihtout being obnoxious.
Maybe I'm too hard on it, I don't know.
>>
>>9452051
>It accomplished what it set out to do
I hated the story, but this makes sense.
It was meant to take Sprinkah's OOC Judy and OOC Nick, and somehow get them together.
I guess it stuck true to the source material but it has all the problems of the source material.
>>
>>9452166
Whats ML?

Did comic ever write some thing the thread liked?

Tender was great, his history lessons are fun, and being an editor is a different skill than being a writer.
I wouldn't say his writing is bad per say, but his stories are divisive.
