Visual Basic relies on a 200+ MB framework that should already be installed on your system. Same with C#. Basically all .NET languages use the same standard library.
Delphi is a dialect of another language called Object Pascal, which uses a completely different syntax style to C and C++.

yeah, that's why it sucks so much. remember i was trying to get into that language until i realized not everybody had these things installed so i abandoned it
>>9191933

Also it's me again.
This is probably the only post I am going to post, I am just on the trash board for furriess and ponies now.

Not without a peacock feather.
>>9192141
>not everybody had these things installed
.NET comes pre-installed with Windows, Skitty. If it didn't, Powershell would be unable to function, since it's written in C#. In fact, there's even a C# and VB.NET compiler that comes pre-installed with Windows. So if you are on someone else's computer and you feel the itch to write a program, you could use C#.

https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/astebner/2007/03/14/mailbag-what-version-of-the-net-framework-is-included-in-what-version-of-the-os/
Still remember when all we had was windows xp and found program I thought was interesting, tried to run it and got a prompt asking me to download 1/3rd GB of .net libraries so i could run a really simple fucking program so i immediately deleted that program and looked for something else, then later when I wanted to learn to make stuff I saw VB looked nice and simple so I studied it a little and then fucking realized "hey this is that language that compiled into the tiny program that asks people to install the behemoth fucking ,net runtime" so I fucking uninstalled everything immediately, reformatted my PC and re-installed windows xp straight from microsoft and I can guarantee none of this shit came with .net you autistic faggot

>>9192357

OK so how does that explain my situation?
Years ago I would install XP from MS ISO and some programs always prompted me to install this .net garbage
not only me but i'm like dead certain many people went through the same thing, autoit and autohotkey forums have some chat sections where a lot of devs come together and 10 years ago i would see everyone complain about this same shit with .net
this is why i grew to hate .net
You must be misremembering.

>>9192570
You are getting BTFO, so you better figure out how that happened now.
>>9192580
>>9192518
Since Windows XP SP1, SOME version of .NET has always been installed by default. The reason why you were always prompted to install .NET was because the program was using a newer version of .NET than was installed on your computer. Updates to .NET came out before new versions of Windows.
>>9192598
What did I do this time to receive this avid countenance?
>>9192580

>.NET was because the program was using a newer version of .NET than was installed on your computer
Exactly why .net is fucking garbage.
I just checked, since 2 years ago I've stacked up on over 5 gigabytes of different .net versions. GARBAGE

>>9192648
And now those 5 gigabytes come standard with Windows 10.

i had forgotten about those commercials
funny thing is my deep dislike of apple products years ago came from those commercials. every time i saw it i couldn't help but think the commercial was designed to exploit peoples desire to relate to the idiot/chill guy and i always notice windows never held these attacks on the competitor so it made me like windows more every time
If anything, Apple shot themselves in the foot with those because they hired Justin Long as their avatar.
>>9192732
Yep. It's goddamn derby day! Actual race hasn't started. NoDozing isn't in the official race but he's a good horse for the other races.

>>9192798

>>9192696
By comparison, mono (an implementation of the .NET framework on Linux that is mostly compatible with what's on Windows) is a lot smaller. Probably a couple hundred megs tops. If you wanted .NET Core, which is Microsoft's open source implementation of .NET that is not backwards compatible with any of the previous frameworks, but which is supposed to be the the future of .NET, that's a little less than 300 megs as well. .NET Core doesn't support VB.NET yet though. Which is fine, since only losers program in VB.

I didn't like the message they were sending. It was basically a social status/perceptive based incite rather than a logical one, while they did use weasel fucking claims like "it just werks", they also used this incredibly infuriating jingle that kinda gave that "lmao ur fuckin stupid for using a windows look how dumb and nerdy this retard we use to represent windows is haha your fucking stupid like him loser", fuck apple actually
I have received another acceptance letter, this time from Portland State University.
I'm still going to WSU. They've guaranteed me a good TA offer, the cost of living is lower, and there's less SJWs there.
>>9192891
if you packaged your simple .net application into a single exe with all the .net stuff it needed i'd wager it's be somewhere around ~100 MB in size
reminds me when i was telling iza about nwjs and electron and they found out the app file size was 40-80 MB on average which is like fucking half of that and they were all "yuck wtf" while they were also the person that used (((registry CLEANERS))) that are probably written in .net
>>9193153
The difference, of course, being that all of those .NET libraries get shared across all of your .NET applications.
It was a very successful ad campaign.

The link I provided lists which version of .NET is installed by default with each version of Windows. Where the hell are you getting this "doesn't install by default" shit from?
Seriously, go get a virtual machine, do a fresh install of WIndows (preferably something later than XP). It should be located somewhere around C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework64/SOME_VERSION_NUMBER
>>9193704
That is more or less the reason why I discontinued it, at least for now. Either I played solo and had no fun, or I played with a friend, and all I did was yell at him.

so what happens when a race starts out in a temperate zone with everything handed to them on a platter? they apparently go thousands of years without inventing the basic necessities of modern life. every actual piece of civilization in africa was built by colonials.
