I'm working on the Duramboros request and while so far I've just settled on a sketch of the piece, I was wondering what the "domes" are exactly. On the adult Duramboros they look like rock, but on the juvenile they look like rhino skin. And the ecology diagrams seem to hint that they're related to the digestion of trees, maybe residue deposits. Anyone has any idea of what they are?

I sometimes listen to Ar Tonelico tracks while hunting. Not all of them are apropriate for hunting (EXEC_CHRONICLE_KEY/. is terrible for hunting, it's a lullaby) but those used in boss battles are great. METHOD_REPLEKIA/. really gets me in the mood of monster slaying and the "Kowarero, kowarero..." of the second part of EXEC_over.METHOD_SUBLIMATION is just great in any battle.

Ar Tonelico Qoga is terrible in comparison with the PS2 titles. It's disheartening, even.

Expanding on my previous comment, the first game is okay in terms of story, I was mostly driven by my fascination with the setting. It had cheesy moments, but it was overall good. And the soundtrack is amazing.

The second game is the high point of the series. I personally found it memorable, with a great plot and characters. And even more epic hymmnos. It's main failing is the poor localization, which fortunately has been rendered obsolete by a fan relocalization recently.

The third game suffers from a meandering plot during the first two thirds, terrible (in my opinion) characters that shitposters could qualify as deeply autistic and a large amount of time that just felt wasted. The plot does kick in high gear in the later third, but I feel those developments should have come much sooner, as they are what really matters for the overall plot of the trilogy. The first parts are meant to serve as character development, but it's terrible. Only the fact that I knew about later plot points beforehand kept me going, honestly.

I think accuracy/cost would be the main issue. As all the porn and pinups have already shown us, the average monster is a lot more detailed than just a simple animal recolor, and it would seem like it would be easy for a suit creator to either compromise or charge megabucks in regards to it. You'd definitely want it to be good for how much you're paying, but it seems like nearly anything Monster Hunter would end up being cost-prohibitive for a suit.

Brave HBG and LS are beyond overpowered in XX.
The first has ridiculous firing speeds in siege mode and the second has an on-demand 50+ mv GP that can chain into another attack much faster than CB could in 4U with faster startup frames as well.

Haven't gotten a key yet, but they already have shit like Founder's Packs and whatnot listed for things like time-limited drop rate boosts. The sound design somehow managing to be even worse than MHO's own isn't doing any favors either, and yeah the F2P model is probably going to enable all kinds of bullshit to happen; I already got burned by the crap EA pulled off with Battlefield Heroes and who knows if Dauntless will go the same way if it's actually any good at first.

Haven't really listened to the dev commentaries, but someone on /mhg/ pointed out how they had a pretty good understanding of MH though the game doesn't really represent it.

I think another problem with clones in general is that MH by now has over ten years of both experience and content to build upon, and everything else can't really come close to what the series has to offer without time to build it all up.

Capcom is shuffling these shitty endgame grind mechanics, in 4U it was GQs with apex showing up, with Gen those "NOT SUBSPECIES" only exist because of the level grind.

It's likely they'll remove Gen/XX's system but those subs will still be around and called deviants or whatever. With their level system removed the difference between a subspecies and a deviant is purely the name.

Should any touch something, its able to awaken its sixth sense and detect the bubbled target, immediately entering a rage.

Regular Tama usually deployed red (attack boost) and green (health) bubbles around on occasion, but Deviant Tama is able to coat its tail/claws with the red ones. Not only will contact with them inflict bubble status, but it also makes the bubbles it deploys explosive.

The coating might also make those zones a bit softer iirc.
