So, I'm considering making a Star Fox game.

I've got a few concepts rattling around, and some experience in Unity.

I don't have a story yet, but I'm thinking about having branching paths, like Star Fox 64.
Gameplay wise, I'm thinking Star Fox: Assault, with a jetpack for on-foot segments, and less on-foot segments in general.

One thing I haven't decided on yet is whether the Arwing sections should be mostly on rails, or in all range mode.

I made the assault sucks comment and I am not this cody that you speak of. I played all except 1 and 2 to completion. I do like 64, guard, zero and even command a lot (command is a guilty pleasure). Assault though is pretty generic as there is just 10 short missions without any path selections and the levels themselves are quite bland and the non rails sections just have "destroy x amount of targets" as the objective. The on rails themselves are decent but have kinda sluggish controls and not as action exciting as 64 or zero. Adventures is alright but nothing great IMO.

Star fox Guard is the best star fox game hand down. I'm actually being sincere with this comment the game actually plays great with easy to use controls and a fair difficulty scaling. Also the extra missions offer some good diversity from the main canpaign reharding game play.

My issue with Krystal isn't that she caused the downfall of the series (she didn't and blaming her is overlooking the failings of a lot of the games since 64). My true gripe with Krystal is that she is overhyped and beloved for a character that actually doesn't do much or us that memorable perspnaliry wise. In fact no one I've known actually gave me good descriptions or positive traits about her other than her appearance and some generic tropes like being a kind person or loves fox mcCloud. To clarify I don't see Krystal as a bad character but rather an extremely underdeveloped one and sadly underutilized. The furbait statement is hypocritical as Fox, Falco, and Wolf appeal to the gay furry crowd. To put it simple, they're gay furbait on their own right. The personality part is a load of shit too because Zero ended up revealing just how useless your team mates are both in personality and how they serve. If that wasnt enough, they're never present in half or more of the games levels, which even though Slippy isnt present you still get the boss meter anyway. Of all the three, Peppy is the worst offender of this.

No, I think it's quite possible to deny that, because it's extremely hypocritical to think that a character is "furry bait" for simply being a female character while there's a large chunk of the fandom that goes out of their way to sexualize the rest of the cast in non-canon ways (i.e. all the gay shipping). She covers up in every post-Adventures appearance, and she's far less of a flirt than Katt is. And if you seriously can't see her as anything other than "furry bait", I'd like to ask what exactly is wrong with that? It'd pretty clear the series has been a sausage fest for far too long, and considering how anti-sexuality a lot of the gaming industry has become I can't see why female characters couldn't be attractive every now and then.

Sounds to me like people are trying to tell you, and you willingly ignore them. Ok, then let's compare her to other characters. What are Falco's character traits apart from being a pilot and a hothead? What are Peppy's traits apart from being an old mentor who barks game controls to you? What about most of Star Wolf is defining apart from being antagonists? When you deliberately ignore character traits or reduce them to simplistic tropes, of course it'd be hard to see depth in a character.

Regarding Krystal as a character. Between the switch from dinosaur planet to star fox adventures, they revampled krystal's appearance from her dinosaur planet look to something that artistically fits more in line with the star fox cast. Though despite that instead of the same outfit that she had in dinosaur planet they decided to give her skimpier outfit composing of a breast plate and loin cloth with underwear along with smaller things like jewlery, shoulder pads and tail rings. Her assault appearance had her in a jump suit with a boob window and command design is similar but pink and sleeveless.

Krystal to me seems to always have been intentionally by the game developers as the sex appeal of the games and though those are fair points regarding the personalities being bland for the rest of the cast at least I can say that they fit thier roles quite well for narrative purposes and can work off each other without. Krystal's main thing it looks like is being fox's love interest which could work out between the two in terms of interactions but what is there to say about Krystal's relationships and interactions with other characters? Being a telepath isn't a personality trait as for example slippy is the engineer but his personality traits are his clumbsiness and overconfidence which can get him into trouble as well as being knowledgeable in tech. I don't really know what to say about Krystal other than being concerned for fox and deflecting panther's flirting attempts.

I am not the best at making written arguments but I want to at least share some points to make you think that I am at least not a hypocrite with my previous comments.

Before the events of adventures we know basically nothing about keystal other than she came from cerinia, it got destroyed, and she came to dinosaur planet to investigate a distress signal. I know other star fox characters don't get much backstop wither but krystal's is even less, especially for someone who is an "important character in adventures before they designated her to being trapped after the tutorial due to development problems at rare.

adventures was a shitty game that almost no one liked and the team wanted to distance themselves from it but along the way they got caught up on the gimmicky control system that NTDOY was pushing instead of making a sequel to a game that came out like 20 years ago and still holds up.

I actually do like zero quite a bit honestly but I really can't defend a lot of the criticisms and issues the game has. My liking a game doesn't mean I think it's great since many people do enjoy playing bad games for various reasons.

My thoughts on zero is that the best portions of the game are among the best moments I've ever played in a star fox game period but there are also way more moments of questionable and poorly designed sections of the games, among them being inability to change control options that much and all bosses being all range mode. I also am 3xtrwmelt disappointed that the game never got uplates or patches that would have fix most of the biggest issues like what happened with sonic lost world with its 100 rings being 1 life and non motion control options for wispals post patch. There is also the feeling that the GSM doesn't feel complete a's many levels are repeats and many iconic world's like macbeth and Katina and honestly also venom are absent. The game overall felt rushed and could have been great with mote time in development and someone challenging miyamoto's inputs into the game.

From my understanding, what little there is, Kemono isn't so much a fandom as like furry, but more their concept of anthro animals. So it's not that people aren't necessarily "into it" it's just a style that exists. From what I gather though it's much less taboo than "furry" culture so there's less of an abject fandom surrounding it.

Because of Zero, the series is in critical condition. The only way it'll ever redeem itself is if it follows Fire Emblems example. Why I believe having a dev team like Cyberconnect2 would be ideal since they put a ton of effort into Solatorobo despite it's shortcoming (it didnt sell that well, but the devs were really happy to of gotten it released worldwide despite it). I will say they'd need to be combined with another team since Solatorobo suffered in being piss easy.

I do think that of all the Nintendo IPs that can work as a comic it would hands down be a star fox one. Mario and DK are too unstructured and lacking narrative to make for really good continuous story telling (maybe episodic ones) while metroid and zelda do better with the main characters acting as the players avatars and not as their own unique being narrative wise. Star fox has pretty established world's and characters with their own traits to make this work. Kirby can also be a food choice IMO but again the main focus shouldn't be on Kirby but supporting cast like in the anime.
