Pony Bread, Fresh out of the oven
Fucking garbage Firefox is now doing that thing where it deletes the name field.
>>8971513
if you know its garbage, why use it?
>not using Chrome
The only real problem I've ever had with Firefox is that it generally feels slower than Chrome.
Firefox feels slower than opera
I think I used chrome once, iirc it took an excessive amount of ram

>>8971687
That's because Chrome sandboxes each tab so they all use their own chunk of RAM.
You maniac.
>>8971758

gee that must take alot of effort tho

Anyway, how have we all been?

Nice to meet you. Glad to hear you're doing well. Where's everyone else?
>>8971948
I made it back in 2010.
Remember when screensavers used to be a thing?
I probably got 20-30 virus installing screensavers a few years ago.
>>8972199
i dunno, i been out of the threads for a long time too
>>8972199
I'm right here
>>8972230
dude screensavers used to be like the dopest feature in a computer
i always wanted to get one I saw some lady using at a store once, she got off her PC and I noticed it went to an animated waterfall with deers and butterflies and I tried to look for it and installed quite the archive of malware
>>8972311
I never used one. My old monitors survived somehow.
I wonder what I should do today to pass the time
>>8972587
Well, what kind of things do you like to do? There's plenty of things to do in life, especially if you have the internet at your disposal.
>>8972199
I'm good. Here are some pics of Apple Bloom if you want them:

I should catch up to mlp, I'm really far behind despite watching the new season, or I could continue dark souls which I havent beaten yet, I dunno, I have a lot I can do but dont feel like doing them
>>8972725
>I have a lot I can do but dont feel like doing them
Story of my life...
>>8972784
I'm not too picky when it comes to games, I've got a couple of roms and pc games alike
>>8972846
Cool. I recently finished Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland, and I'm idly working on getting 100% completion for Amazing Mirror. If you don't mind cutesy low-resolution handheld games (Gameboy Advance, y'know) they're both worth a playthrough.
>>8971970
How was work?
>>8973167
A bit busier than average, but overall not bad. It's hard to have a particularly bad day working retail, knock on wood.
Can anyone here clap without using your hands?
https://youtu.be/Fyr7abciEgw
>>8972910
Oh cool, I've played kirby and the amazing mirror, haven't played nightmare in dreamland but it's a remake of kirby's adventure on the NES, isn't it? I loved playing that as a kid
>>8973265
I could hit the handclap button on a drum machine with my elbow or something. Does that count?
>>8973241
What kind of retail store do you work at? How often to you feel like you've gotten sick because of your job?
>>8973274
Sure does.
>>8973270
Yup. The controls are a marked improvement over Adventure, which I haven't gotten around to completing yet, and the graphics and sounds are nicely updated. Amazing Mirror uses the same engine as the older NiDL so you'll recognise most of the sprites and sound effects. What did you think of Amazing Mirror? Did you manage to get 100% completion?
>>8973309
Just a small mom-and-pop grocery store. I wouldn't say I've gotten sick more often than I usually do, but then again I haven't worked there for too terribly long.
>>8973377
I actually played it with my sister on gba when it was new
We did 100% it together, but its possible theres some things i haven't seen because of how the multiplayer works, both players are free to explore and can complete other segments of the game independant of each other
In fact I bet speedrunners take advantage of this and control 4 kirbies at once
>>8973377
So what got you stuck on the "everything that came before was better" train?
>>8973475
Well, as you know, I only got on the ride a little over a year ago. When I started poking around on forums and shit and shared my newfound interest with one of my other ponyfag friends back before I discovered 4chan, I noticed how the content I'd find, such as videos, music, fanfiction, largely came out in 2011 and 2012. Although I had heard of the pony meme back then because some of the YouTubers I was subscribed to didn't exactly hide their power level, I never bothered to check it out because it was for little girls. So anyway, back to 2016, when it all started. These 2011 and 2012 dates planted in my mind the idea that I was late to the party, that I had missed out, and the fandom had reached its peak. And over this year I've soaked up a lot about the (in)famous moments of the good old days, but I've failed to notice anything as remarkable coming out of recent years. So it's just made me sad that I was too closed-minded ("it's for little girls!") to bother checking it out back in the day when it was cool. Thankfully, I think I'm starting to get over it, once again keeping my fingers crossed that the feeling doesn't relapse.
>>8973647
Well thanks for the response but I meant in general because so far you like old games, old cars, and don't seem to like most new things coming out well as far as you posted so far.
>>8973721
Oh, you meant in general? Sorry, I feel stupid now. My general feelings regarding "the old days were better" are hard to explain, but if I had to guess, I would say it's because of all the issues that today's society has brought up. We've had things like the 2008 economy crash, LGBTQIAP+ rights, the 2016 presidential elections, rampant consumerism, government meddling in minute affairs, and everyone's general fragility caused by all of these and more. I look back at the old days, and sure, they have their problems, like the Cold War tensions of the 80s, the Clinton administration of the 90s, and 9/11 of the early 2000s. Yet the content produced in those eras seems more "real" and less overengineered. Games are simple yet varied, unlike the thousands of first-person shooters we have today. Cars have some degree of personality - maybe not so much on the exterior, but moreso on the interior. They were allowed to do things differently in their own ways, and they took pride in features like power windows, tilt steering wheel, and automatic climate controls. Now with government safety regulations and the higher costs of gas, all cars brag about is safety and fuel efficiency. Maybe it just stems from the fact that I wasn't around in those times, and that combined with my extreme autism makes it hard for me to fully understand the issues that were present in times past. I apologise for this long post and my nonsensical explanation, but when you're like me, it is very hard to articulate what you feel and why.
So what other boards does /b/read go to?
I use /an/, /ck/, /g/, /co/, /a/, /v/, /pol/ and some of the porn based boards.
>>8973968
Do you have autism or "autism"?
>>8973973
I really only go to /mlp/, but now that I've been allowed into this community, even that is taking a backseat to the /b/read. Occasionally I pop my head into /g/, /o/, or /v/, mainly to ask one question, get my half-assed semi-sarcastic answer, and leave.
>>8974006
Based on the fact that I can't infer what difference you are trying to make by putting the second autism in quotes, I would say the old cliche: Why not both?
>>8973647
Similar story: I've been "on the ride" since 2012. Can't remember exactly how it happened, but I ended up watching a few pony vids on YouTube and thinking they were really cool. I started watching the show almost immediately afterward because I just didn't care that it was for girls. Came to 4chan last year.
>>8973973
/mlp/, /trash/, /g/, /v/, /t/ occasionally, and /x/.
>>8974061
I meant have you been diagnosed with autism by a doctor because a lot of peoole use it in place of saying "I have OCD" now.
>>8974109
Actually, your story seems to be the opposite of mine. I should've clarified that I started watching MLP before looking at all the videos and stuff, and before finding 4chan. That and I'm a flaming newfag, while you're a seasoned veteran.
>>8974127
This may sound crazy, but I'm not entirely sure. When I was a wee lad, my parents took me to the shrink because I was having emotional breakdowns and behavioural issues in school. If my interpretation of what my parents said is correct, I havw autistic tendencies but am high-functioning enough to be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder instead. I don't bother with that anxiety disorder shit because I'm full-blown autistic and you only have to look at me or talk to me for five seconds to be aware of it.
>>8974322
I like you, you actually answer my questions as where someone like darwin will give me 3 word reply without quoting me or just avoid answering altogether.
Heya, pone bread
>>8974322
>Actually, your story seems to be the opposite of mine.
Lol, whoops. Guess my reading comprehension failed. I should've said "here's my story" instead.
>while you're a seasoned veteran.
Nah. I mean I only really started discovering the history of everything after coming to 4chan.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ruckp8-vI0
I always liked babylong 5 more and star wars much more, but I don't dislike star trek.
That aside, this game actually looks pretty sweet.
>friend tells me to start with good riddance if I want to play bass
>there's not bass line
what did she mean by this?
>>8975841
one of my friends is a huge star wars geek. i'll make sure to show him that.
i tried to get him to build a PC, but he insisted on getting a ps3. he's a console casual and also incredibly blue pilled, but i've known him since middle school.
>>8975911
Honestly I'd like to see a game like the old x-wing vs tiefighter in VR, something like htat would be absolutely amazing in VR.
>>8975449
>>8976010
yeah, that would be cool.
i always liked star wars more than star trek. i think because star wars is a romanticized space commie fantasy. thus why ever single planet they encounter has a single world government.
>>8976020
light, my old arch-nemesis.
>>8976072
wait i meant star trek is the commie one.
>>8975911
What kind of rig do you got going?
>>8976106
it's nothing special. 8gb of ram, 660ti gpu and a q8300 cpu.
it's several years old. it plays everything i need to to, for now. i have a pile of these socket 775 lga motherboards, so i'm going to use them until games progress past the point where you need more than 4 cores.
>>8976072
I think the planets each have their own version of the UN, and that's who goes to the senate, princess amadala for instance was in an elected position, and the gungans had their own leadership as well as one really poor example.
Star trek though is literally space marx the show.
No currency or economy, everyone gets whatever they want on demand, literal utopian paradise without want.
>>8976187
right, i misspoke. star wars has the republic senate, and we do see there's division in the factions on amedala's world, with the gungans having a tribal society and leadership that certainly didn't bow to the republic or trade federation.
>>8976183
Nice to see people other than me still using Quads. I'm running a Q9550/8GB, but my GPU is only a 570. Considering I don't play anything remotely modern, it does just fine.
Woo I was worry for a sec that my vaccum pump died again and I was going to have to call maintenance again.
>>8976249
Yup, that's it.
Tattooine was a criminal warlord run world, if you crossed the huts, you were dead, and even within the imperium there were factions of citizens that were very discontented, as we saw at the end of return of the jedi.
True story, almost every character that appears on screen in the original 3 have a back story made up for them in the EU, for instance, this storm trooper: https://youtu.be/AiM5zEEI_Jo?t=1m18s
has his own line of stories you can follow.
>>8976268
Yea I only think 2 people as far as I know have modern rigs here.
evol dog
>>8976268
i did the side by side comparison, so i know my cpu is only a bit less powerful than an i3. still pretty crappy, but i'm mostly a nostalgia gamer.
i'm currently playing saints row 4, and it runs that great.

I'd be curious to know what the others are running. It's hard to get a good demographic of 4chan users when most of the ones willing to share their specs are on /g/ and have bland, identical Skylake builds with 16GB of RAM, GTX 10 series, and Windows 10.
>>8976396
According to Passmark, your CPU is at least better than the infamous first-gen i3's, and will beat most of the low-power Sandy Bridge models as well. Quads are still plenty useful in this day and age, as are faster Duos.

nice. yeah, the truth is that those big dawg CPUs are mostly just for bragging rights in terms of most games. won't always be like that, but for now it works fine. i also have a second gaming machine that uses an older amd cpu.
90% of gaming is your GPU. only when you start getting the bigger GPUs do you run into bottlenecking issues that require a CPU upgrade.
>>8976557
no, it's like that in fury road. the guy with the guitar was found in a cave by imortan joe. joe himself gained popularity as a leader after slaying the characters big bopper and charlie from the first max film after they went rogue and started killing people.

Good. I'm gonna try and have the primeswap done by Friday. I've kept meaning to come back to it and then putting it off again, which is bad. Sorry for the wait.

>>8979166
Nothing you haven't really posted a whole lot since I've been keeping track and no one really talks to you as of late.
>>8979249
I figured,but, was curious
>>8979201
Doing alright. My research code has managed to reach over 1K lines of C over the past 11 days. It may soon be able to be tested, and used for experiments.
>>8979136
>on disability for Aspergers
Oh come on man, I've got an Aspergers diagnosis, and I'm not on disability. How bad on the spectrum could you be?
>>8979462
I'm actually pretty high func, I guess the government thinks otherwise, I'm not sure, I got it when I was a kid
I can tell you though that aside from social awkwardness I'm pretty capable of working
>>8979424
What research, if I may ask? How did it reach over 1k lines of C? I can't even imagine writing that many lines of code, lol.
>>8979505
Not without the GED.
>>8979553
I suppose that's true
Hey anon who writes down everything, make sure you get this too
it's never too late to get your GED.
and you get a nice "I'm dumb, but hard working when I put my mind to it" story out of it that some people just eat up.
and im home
>>8979736
Smug, what color do you want your name to be?

Here's my precious son, Caden. GF got him last Saturday and she's keeping it at my house. Basically pushing all the responsibility on me BUT THAT'S OKAY BECAUSE MY SON IS PRECIOUS.
>>8979979
Perfect.
>>8980395
Ayy
>>8980395
I don't believe you.
>>8979510
The topic of the research is decoy devices. So say we've got some malware, it wants to attack some device and either spy on it or attack it or whatever. We want to see if we can fuck with it by making it attack a fake device that only an illegitimate program would ever think to communicate with.
I'm working with this networking protocol called DNP3, which is used in automating some processes in, among other things, the power grid. Basically what I've written is a barebones DNP3 server that's going to run in the Windows kernel. It does no memory allocation or socket communication on its own, but rather, can arbitrarily be placed in the middle of some program that can set up a couple of memory buffers and sockets for it. Hence, I'm able to test it on Linux, and then later run it in the Windows kernel.

I think when I was young, the government tried to give me money, and my mom turned it down. This is despite the fact that she too is on disability, but it's mainly for a blood disorder that affects her ability to move. In retrospect, I'm a bit grateful. I work for my money, and soon, I'm going to be entirely self-sufficient thanks to a TA program I'm going to be in while I'm working on my PhD.

Found it while browsing around on 8ch's /b/. Remembered seeing them on 4/b/ a while back, figured I might check the place out to see what everyone's like. Most of the posters were chill, so I stuck around.
And then a few weeks in I decided to lewd like half of the posters in /b/read. It was fun.
>>8980771
I'll be alright. I'm going to try and find a way to get my work done efficiently, so I can spend more time at home, hopefully with a wife and kids.
>>8980660
Actually, this would've been more appropriate.
>>8980886
I wish you the best of luck
>>8980821
How long were you out of work?
>>8980821
Glad to have you back posting here.
Looking forward to the work?

All telecommunications was dropped for quite a large area where I am 7 hours ago until now. Crazy. I was super bored and watched a movie and wrote two programs to read process memory and unlock file locks other processes have on files and stuff so they're deletable. What's up?
>>8981471
My internet and phone have been going out a lot lately. They have been here 4 times now to fix it and it only made it worse.
>>8981235
Because it's closer to death than you are...I think
>>8981384
Student loans or something or high cost of living?
>>8981471
Damn, that sucks
A few days ago our power went out for like 2 hours
>>8981471
Every time you are not online for more than two hours, I assume you have been shot again.
>>8981552
I don't want to manage a bunch of baby sneks and try and sell them off to potentially shity owners because you never truely know if they're going to treat them well and most people don't realize they live 30+. They're not like some shitty dog or cat that you replace every 10 to 15 years.
>>8981440
urshula pls

was kind of funny moments ago I only realized the internet and phone were back when my phones message app started ringing like crazy. people from the area were texting me to see if things were the same at my place but even the phones were kill

>>8982548
So did you just make a deal with yourself that you wouldn't use the internet until you found a new job or did you just not have time to get on?
>>8982656
Sounds like fun. I'll join you after a shower and fap.
>>8982770
What are you going to fap to?
>>8982675

>>8982801
Dunno yet. Gotta take that shower first though. Be back in a bit.
>>8982868
What would you say was your biggest problem in finding a new job?
Also have you had time to check out the new season?
>>8982947
well i did spend a lot of time... not looking for jobs, but biggest problem was just them not calling back, sometimes even after interview and tour
Out of the shower!
