Whaddup. Shinx are cool lil' dudes when they're young, but kin'a bite and get real rough, which is kin'a bad when they got electrically charged teeth and claws. Luxray are super fuggin' territorial. Like. " I hope you don't want a girl friend" kinds'a territorial. Probs not the best for a first Pokemon. Gettin' an Eevee and evolvin' it into a Jolteon would be your best route if you wanna get into electric types, I'd just need ya to send in notes in behavior an' how it's growing and whatnot.
You could also get a rescue from Plasma, but those defs need experience with Pokémon to handle.

( Yo, its ya boy Ray here. Discord's been talking things out among the GM duders, and we're thinking that our Pokemon characters need to act less like humans. )
( I'll personally be adjusting things with my Pokemon characters, with wilds being the most instinctive and hand-reared domestic Pokes having dulled {but still present} instincts, possibly to the point of being unable to survive in the wild. )
( This will make the world a little more dangerous, and also make the few surviving Wishening subjects stick out like sore thumbs {coincidentally explaining why there are so few surviving Wishening subjects} )
