I was happy with how they were doing so far, but god damn this latest episode...

WAY too many cameos. The whole point of advancing 50 years into the future is that you're supposed to move onto new characters. You're supposed to have the old ones dramatically died off. You can have a few hold-outs, but not every single side character Jack's ever encountered.

I'm also bummed out that they didn't properly kill off the Scotsman. That would have been the perfect moment for him, to have fallen in epic combat against Aku. But no, they pull that cheesy resurrection thing. This is feeling less and less like the "gritty darker Samurai Jack" that we were promised.

I liked it better than episode six. Though it did feel a bit rushed. It was like a long patient build up (which the show always does well) but then suddenly we get a repeat of Jack vs Mad Jack condensed into 4 minutes.

Also, I was sure they were going to go in the direction of "The sword was just a tool, the key to defeating Aku was withing you the whole time." etc. This has all been a huge build-up to fulfilling the prophecy we saw when Jack fought the Guardian. We're supposed to end the series with Jack having defeated Aku, and then he rules over pretty much the entire planet as it's benevolent king, with a long flowing beard with bits of grey in it, with a crown and (most importantly) a sword that isn't his original one.

Now he has his old sword and he's clean-shaven. We're regressing!

I imagined there would be a scene that gave Jack the choice of what to do after he killed Aku in the future. He can go back to the past and fight Aku again (because in the past he's still alive). This would change the outcome of the timeline and effectively undo all of the lives that he helped save. They wouldn't be killed, they would just never have existed. So all his allies, his enemies, the people and talking dogs he encountered, they'd all fade away.

Or... he forgets about the past, and now that Aku is properly defeated he helps the future rebuild. With him in a predominant leadership role that grants him a wicked crown.

The only way the future could rebuild is if Any was dead, that's what I meant. And when Aku is finally dealt with, man kind would be able to take charge of the planet. Even if all of the portals were destroyed, one could be created, like those scientists did in that one episode. Thus, when Aku is dead, whatever else happens, Jack would eventually be able to return to the past, if that's what he still ends up wanting to do.
