>>8684677
I think so but you're going to have to use a separate smartphone app to access online stuff like adding friend codes, talking with friends, checking if people are online, and other things.
>>8684652
Blue? Bleck! You're getting a light blue and that's it.
>>8684696
o- oh...
>>8684716
but that isn't a royal blue!
Why is "tone policing" supposed to be a bad thing? If someone wants to make their point across, it makes it very difficult to take their opinion as rational if they say it in an overly-emotional manner. It suggests that they are not rightly in charge of their mental facilities.
>>8684855
Royal Blue is a bit hard to read when I'm zoomed out.
>>8684931
Fair enough~
>>8684901
Depends entirely on context and who is doing the "policing".
>>8684901
Tone policing? Hmm... Well first of all it's irritating for whoever's being "policied", and it may cause someone to escalate in tone when you're trying to calm that person down. Another thing is that you should be adapting to a person's reaction, and not controlling it. Your focus should be on the content of the message, with less concern given to how the message is delivered. Tone policing shifts everything away from what the conversation is about while simultaneously making the "tone policer" an aggressor.
I dunno. There's my ramble on the matter.
>>8685165
kek, nice.
>>8685094
The problem is that people who are angry or frustrated naturally tend to act irrationally, and making rational arguments against them can be very difficult -- they don't always listen to reason.
>>8685306
How are you gauging that someone is angry? Who is doing this gauging? Where is the discourse taking place?
What is acceptable and what isn't?
This conversation is pointless if these aren't established.

it's neither really, just on the way to the airport to catch the morning flight, had to take a boat to catch a taxi to board a plane. you seem to have slept during normal human hours yes?

they don't seem to mind the warm water desu
also I wanted to tell you that
remember when i told you my netbook got wifi here but it wouldn't connect? and it was just my iphone that can't get wifi here?
well my netbook apparently sees the signal just barely and i was able to find out why i couldn't connect to it from it, it's cause it uses some new encryption so if i unlock the wifi with no password it works, so i can use my slow af netbook from my couch or bed which is neat
dunno why my iphone doesn't get it, it's honestly easier to post here with it since its like 3 times faster than the netbook, the dumb thing literally lags when you type into it, i see the sentences complete a few seconds after i typed them out in the qr
>>8687187
Cute. You still haven't shown me the pupper.
That will not do, even if you get a signal it isn't worth using such a dated machine. My mac does the same lagging thing when typing, it was pretty infuriating after a few years. If only tou could make scripts work on the phone it would be a no brainer. still need to get that extender just to see what happens

Put your autism to good use and figure it out. Probably isn't possible without a jailbreak of course but you never know.
>>8687217
I really wouldn't mind getting a new phone that's just as fast as this one but has android... at least android lets you do scripting of all kinds on their phones and you don't have to jailbreak it to install 3rd party apps
I remember on my old one i installed an app that let me tether its internet to my laptop or pc
i can't do that with this phone cause i have to pay 15 dollars extra per month
>>8687288
yeah i know but it was totally worth it from the other phone i had before. it was like 1/4th as fast and lagged, and the store I went to had it on (((special))) and compared to my other options at that price, the iphone was twice as fast so I went with it...
>>8687305

Yeah it's a bit of a bummer, but even so I do not think iphones deserve the hate they get from all you computer nerds. Or maybe they do. You can probably sell your five for a hundred or so and get a one plus or whatever I am not that well versed on the cheapest android phones but that would be a lot more fun for you I think. I was very close to getting a note 7, dodget a bullet there. You won't need tethering in a month or so but it is nice to use in areas with no wifi, on the road and stuff.

So I found out this android of mine is actually decently fast after I wiped it of everything but firefox since its not connected. Works quite nice with WiFi for this place. Even has namesync and stuff
>>8688188

Fag*
>>8688310
Maybe Kim did want him to win, but Trump went out and tweeted that if China won't solve the North Korea problem, we will. In response, Kim said that any military action we take against them would be responded with a nuclear weapon.

I'm trying to figure out how to turn it into a wifi repeater...
maybe if I can get the hotspot functionality to extend the wifi then i can just use that instead of that thing from amazon lmfao
>>8688624
is such a thing even possible? that would solve a number of issues. though i wonder if the phone will be able to transfer that much speed. will you glue it to the wall or something? how long will it take me to develop an app for this site that will send me banner notis and vibrate for replies and stuff, possibly with script compatibility? from scratch btw
>>8688781
You'd need an app for that plus, you'd also need to jail break the phone...
>>8689122
Yes I know, I was wondering how long it would me, someone with no experience, to make this app. I'm guessing a couple weeks or so.
take
>>8688781
That's what I'm checking. Sorry, I'm kind of busy trying to figure this out. I'm rooting the phone, or at least trying to.. and gonna do something and hope it worked..
kek, I'll probably just leave it plugged into a wall socket and let it stay there if it works...
I don't know. but you kind of gave me an idea, if you could find a way to get scripts to work on a browser you could use an app that lets you get notifications via a 3rd party site, forgot the name but there's an app that does that, and then you could write a script that just posts to that 3rd party site to tell you via a notification that you got a reply or something..
woldn't be as cool as just having an app for this place, maybe rooting it and using one of the apps designed for this place would be better desu.
>>8689317
if you have prior programming experience then probably a few weeks or a month. otherwise most people would probably give up unless they're willing to spend days on end learning things. i don't think most people just start from nothing and end up creating something that complex, it'd take months to a year I'd think.

No worries I bet it is annoying to figure out. Would that be very efficient? I think there are apps for the site but they are not approved by the app store which is obnoxious, though i don't know if they support notifications.
>>8689704
I do not, and I am not willing to spend more than two weeks. My favourite strategy for learning something is starting right off the bat with a difficult task, no foundation stuff right for the apex. It hasn't worked very well but maybe this time I'll have some luck. Then again there is likely already an app that does this and I wouldn't want to waste time.
>>8690839

tried it over 7 times different ways. turns out this specific android phone is obscure af and not popular at all so people don't bother rooting it, so there is very little info on how to go about it anywhere. it's an htc evo design 4g, quite a cheap phone it was just 60 dollars when i got it new back in 2013 so i'm not surprised. oh well it could have been pretty rad to run it into an extender, I got the idea, looked it up and apparently this is something you can do if you manage to root the device.. maybe i should look for another android device, there's probably another one somewhere here..

It sounded like a long shot anyways. What are the downsides of jailbreaking again? I think you said that you could no longer update but after an entire forty five seconds of looking I have not found that to be the case. And you will be able to tether for free, along with a number of other benefits. The cons on this website seem of little concern to you but more research is required.

Maybe I'll look into jailbreaking it later.. not now.. just spent way too much time trying to do it unsuccessfully. Stupid phone. guess it's not gonna work but I wanted to try it, especially since it gets wifi in my room but the iphone and laptop hardly do. still anyway at least i didn't brick it and i can still use it rather than my iphone since it lets me do more cool stuff than the iphone. also the app wouldn't have namesync or anything on the iphone remember that.. I think using the regular desktop site with scripts is much better than the app desu. also on an unrelated note, not sure if you remember a pic i took some time ago of a gun in a red car, basically my friend, haven't spoken to or seen them in over a year but the other day at the race thing i saw his brother and we talked for a while and it turns out this fag tried to hang himself, broke doors and windows in his house and had a standoff with police, but they tazed them and now he's in jail. fuckin what, i've been thinking about it for a while, wonder what happened, they never acted or came off like someone that'd lose it like that.

>>8692107
Right, enough fiddling with phones for now. It was worth a try though. Yeah I know but I was mostly interested in getting notifications.
I remember a pic with a gun on a red car but I'm not sure if I saw a gun in a red car. That is crazy though, a lot must have happened in the past year jeez. Not a very good standoff either if he let them get close enough to taze him. Maybe it was like you other friend who got skitty withdrawal and flipped his car.

Right, I remember you mentioned how far it was.. can't you make a big deal over how far away you are? respond to the letter that you're away or something? I don't know how that works, do they really make you go out of your way to deal with public service like that?

I dunno, I think if I have documentation proving that I had plans to be out of state previous to receiving my summons I can reschedule, but they don't really like that apparently and you can only do that so many times before they will imprison you for life in a Panamanian jail. Whoever is going on trial deserves to be judged by a jury of their peers, and as a United States Citizen it is my obligation to serve when called.
>>8695966
wut ru some kinda titanicfaggot
jury duty is a crock of shit and the notion that a random gaggle of assholes are better at assessing the facts and passing judgement than literally anyone with any training whatsoever, who would just as likely be removed from the selection pool on that basis, is too laughable to elicit any laughter whatsoever.
Really it's just fucking stupid.
>>8695999
>>8696066
You just got summoned?
>>8696083
fuck no
even if I did, who cares. There's no way any sane lawyer would let me anywhere near a trial. I have no fear of ever serving, or wasting my time, if you prefer. Which I do.
>>8695997
Sure but those can't be fun. Well maybe the case might be interesting, and even if it is you can't tell anyone about them.
>>8696072
dwi
>>8696107
It's your civil service, and the individual is usually not all that stupid and can understand what's going on within the context of a trial.
>>8696193
that civil service line is probably the one thing about jury duty that pisses me off more than anything else
you want me to spend a few days every ten years spooning out soup then fine, at least then I'd be doing something that actually makes more difference than none at all to somebody, instead of nobody
if it was my civil duty to flail my dick at cars, that wouldn't make it any less fucking idiotic, so for the love of god, please, you and everyone else stop hiding behind that line as it if makes a waste of time magically into not a waste of time
>>8695309
And now he cucked out of his statement.
>>8696232
None of what you said makes sense babs.
>>8696260
it makes so many sensicles you don't even know how many
for real though, you can just google "reasons why juries are fucking stupid" and whatever you read will pretty much be an argument I endorse.
They were invented a million years ago before the light bulb and are archaic and serve no purpose anymore
as soon as we invented real evidence instead of guessing, juries stopped making sense
>>8696291
No, the idea is that the state can't just imprison whoever it wants without proving guilt.
>>8696139
If I am unlucky enough to be selected, I won't have to tell anyone anything as I am nearly positive that this will be a Casey Anthony tier case, and you will be able to witness it through various media.
>>8696254
the deep state kiles made him take it back. those bastards. i wish hitler had gassed people so they wouldnt be around to fake the holocaust
>>8696337
I can finally masturbate to footage of you being told about child murderin.
>>8696327
more like the state can imprison whoever it wants by making things that shouldn't be crimes into crimes, or selectively prosecuting, or by fabricating evidence, and if that doesn't work, bringing new charges later
juries are the skill testing question equivalent of law. There's clearly a right answer, and it's easy enough to get that anyone should be able to get it, and the only reason they exist is an obtuse legal technicality
they're actually stupid Raptor, it's okay to just admit it
if you're worried about the state jailing people without cause, then just let anyone show up to the trial to watch. I'm sure there's tons of paranoid freaks out there with nothing better to do than police the police. Just don't tap me because I super don't give a shit.
>>8696341
It should make them look stupid since they kept aluding trump to Hitler during the campaign, but it won't.
skitty. let's have some fun
>
>>8692867
Yo, sorry for disappearing. I think if it was seriously thought out and done by someone who pretty much isolates themselves from the world, they're good. If said person knew people or was social, they'd get caught eventually.
>>8696664
No problem. Once you complete your training I might come to you for advice, purely for educational purposes of course. You make a good point though, a lot of people get caught when they end up letting some info slip down the line. Helps to have enough bleach and thick plastic bags and a boat near the ocean. So what would your goal job be, and what would it entail?
>>8696803
Well, my "dream" job would be Forensic Analyst and would require a lot of lab work on (I'm assuming) organic material to find evidence to use in court. Ballistics Analysts is pretty much the same thing, lab work and all, but you're analysing bullet casings or other objects left at the scene.
>>8696962
Sounds interesting.
I need to feel loved.
>>8697099
Me too
>>8696962
Okay so you would be in the lab and would not investigate crime scenes. That's still pretty cool, and much less messy. Although you do say organic material so it could be pretty messy, probably a lot of bodily fluids. Ballistics seems a little boring, except for the part where you get to fire the gun once to get another bullet to analyze.
Have you heard of the CSI effect?
http://scholarworks.sjsu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1027&context=themis
Jurors see stuff like this on CSI and similar shows and have unrealistic expectations of what is possible, and are less likely to convict.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vxq9yj2pVWk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uoM5kfZIQ0
>>8697198
Haven't heard of this before, but I know that's what people think I want to do. The typical thing is
>"Oh Forensics? You mean like CSI, you'll go look at scenes?"
I got tired of correcting people so I just agreed, but Crime Scene Investigators are something else. If forensics doesn't work out, I can try for CSI, but if not, border patrol is hiring in my area. (Big leap, I know.)
>>8697279
It makes forensic analysis all the more important as juries become more demanding. Either option is good. Not too sure how much long term job security you will have as a border patrol agent, the wall will be finished in a few years and my guess is they will layoff seventy five percent. But you would get to drive around off road all day and maybe play on four wheelers so that wouldn't be so bad.

That's something only a crazy person would do.
I usually drink boiling water a week before wing competitions to kill all the taste buds, rendering the hot sauce ineffective.

not much, sort of watching a stream and stuff. head hurts even after three codeine so im fairly certain i have brain cancer. i will take a tramadol for good measure. how about you? you must have been up to something the last couple hours

sleep is an establishment plot to pacify the masses for a third of our lives.
i've read the arguments on both sides, and i've yet to see the evidence that humans ever need to sleep.

I'm not sure if it would work.
>>8698162
i knew this nutty cokehead in college who would swear it was totally normal to stay up for 48 hours and sleep for 12.
>>8698162
It hurts after awhile though, you keep doing it and your vision starts to blurr. It gets harder to think straight, eventually it gets really hard to stay awake.
>>8698163
I think one time I stayed up for 48 hours straight
I'll never do that again
>>8698136
Maybe it's just a primitive behavior that helps us survive the night by forcing us to hide somewhere until the sun comes back.
>>8698141
Well, continue being good in general and maybe you'll go to pony heaven.

biologically we're conditioned to go to sleep when it gets dark, then wake up for a short while around midnight to fuck. then sleep again until morning.
it's also theorized that the human body is actually operating on a 25 hour clock.

>>8698315
I've been doing it waaay too much recently since I've been working two part time jobs, one being a day shift, and the other a graveyard shift into the early morning. I had to stop opening at the day job after only a couple weeks. Then I started chugging espresso before my shifts.
Thankfully the place that was paying me better offered full time and benifits. So I'm gonna get to sleep more during the day.
>>8698597
Damn, that must have sucked
Glad things worked out for you though
>>8698646

>>8697894
wouldn't you have intense migraines frequently with that? sucks..
i've been kind of stoned and decided to move my old site to my main pc just to have it, also i found another version of the site so i made it more complete as how it was back in 2012-2013, and i backed up its database so I wont lose anything any time soon.

Or not

I was just outside smoking some more.. also looking up north, seems to be a storm passing through, doubt it's gonna hit me judging from the wind direction though. also repairing this site to what it used to be reminded me how much i dislike PHP. I don't like that language lol.. serverside/clientside javascript is so much better and more efficient at some things..
>>8699275
Woah have you checked the radar? It looks like quite a storm, you're in for a treat. What did you need to repair?
>>8699250
Sweet, aside from dobroye utro/vercher etc. we don't have much to converse with yet I don't think.
I'm sure it'll be more apparent as we learn more.
>>8699381
haven't checked it, been too into fixing my old code.
back in 2011 I got this copy of tinyboard. which is just a really small simple imageboard, to give you an idea of how small it is, 8ch probably has around large 30-40 php files that are involved with posting and navigating the site, tinyboard uses around 5-10 and its not much code in them either. I modified it a long time ago to have a better moderation side to it then it originally had, which was really fuggin bad and difficult to use. we got to use it twice, me, casper and smokey when moot linked it and it was invaded kek, that's a board I lost and don't have now.. lame, had tons of posts. i checked the tinyboard github and it seems they really bloated it with tons of crap, glad I saved this early minimal version. oh crap i just checked, you're right, the worst is coming right at me...
>>8699514
how'd you lose a board? that would have been pretty fun to look back on. not that this isn't but that would have been extra. it seems functional enough, certainly for the amount of traffic it receives. i think it's perfect.
yes, better batten down the hatches. are your doggos afraid of thunder? i have a feeling they aren't
>>8699644
i think i probably deleted it back at that time for no particular reason... just wasn't thinking about saving anything. it got windy af
yeah especially the chihuahua.. that one will hide in a corner and just look around like it saw a ghost
>>8700104
aw man. you should consider not doing that anymore. yeah i bet, any precipitation yet?
my doggo absolutely hated it, same with fireworks. i had to hold him and cover his ears as he trembled. same to a lesser degree with gunfire so he didn't make a very good hunting dog.
>>8700213
it's been raining a bit, not much.
lol, does it really overreact like that? mine aren't scared of fireworks, they get mad at them and you have to keep them away from them...
>>8700312
hm, the radar painted a different picture. too bad thunderstorms are the best.
it did yeah, was pretty cute actually. do they just bark a bunch at them or something? probably just too loud and hurts their ears. i missed the temptations and the four tops tonight, such regrets.
