I dont know why, but i was pretty comfortable with the story. Nick wasn't a fucking wimp and Judy ruined everything herself. Talk shit, get hit was a good rule for the last part. She talked, like he needed her. He never did. He moved on. So i would say, that you wrote an amazing piece of art. I'm the same person that has already talked with you in length when it comes to your Works, namely the Open Relationship and Years Too late.

I personally never felt like it was really OoC in a way. Drunk is a major factory, but years of things pilling up can change others, Nick's anger was just like when Judy slighted him during the movie. And Judy's despondency and weakness was her getting affected by it even more, compared to when she was depressed at BB and the City, when things went tits up.

Her almost sexual nature with how she acted would be the drunkenness talking, and thinking that just by acting like it, Nick could just jump into his arms.
Nor should he have EVER done that, even on an off chance he still loved her, more then a friend, that is.

She was only using him in the end for her own emotional weaknesses, she couldn't give two fucks about him nor his emotional connection in the end. It would have been a TERRIBLE relationship even worse then Jack's.

I just love it that Nick was able to move on and find his own happiness away from her, but others have already talked in length when it comes to how fucking stupid "Nick never being able to find happiness or joy unless he is with her." Like some kind of angel for him or something.

He had already been slighted before by her, if he couldn't move on after having it happen AGAIN, is his own damn fault.

While Judy was definitely using Nick, I wouldn't say she couldn't give two fucks about him. Nick was still her best friend after all. It was a case of Judy not thinking of the consequences and possibilities and jumping head first, with bitterness and lust emphasized due at being drunk at the time.

It still would have been, as you said, a terrible relationship regardless; I said this when I first posted "Years Too Late" but I tend to give someone a few months after they get out of a relationship. Being on either side of a rebound is NEVER a good feeling, even when there "aren't any feelings anymore" from the previous relationship. And Nick wasn't going to play rebound, not the runner-up when Judy was STILL in her marriage and she wanted him because Jack simply wasn't there anymore.

The BIG difference is that the Sloshed Fox, didn't take that long to finish. (At least I don't think it did?)
So the emotional drama and conflict was introduced, and you were given a connection to it.
And then the resolution happened shortly afterword.
You felt worried and fearful that it wasn't going to work out, given JUST enough time to think it didn't, but it did.
And it ended with a comfy and hopeful conclusion to the comic and knowing that the two of them are going to work HARD to understand the other now.

But Borba? We have ANOTHER 19 pages that take a week or so to do. We are going to be here for WEEKS for it to finish, it's going to drag and it its going to drag HARD.

When did canon matter in this shit?
On the literal first page we're introduced with an oblivious Judy who gets pregnant despite not wanting children. A Judy who was probably not expecting getting pregnant with Nick because different species, and despite that we have on this universe that hybrids are possible, so we have a dumb Judy. A Judy who will probably justify next pages that she isn't ready yet to have children because of her career, and despite that didn't get tubes tied or use protection with Nick. A Nick who instantly takes a kid he had with his job partner and girlfriend without any concern, being the cynic snark, faced with something he wasn't really expecting at all and that by all means he thought impossible. Understood. Unwanted children is a pretty heavy subject, but looking closer at the comic I can see a few things he could've done better to avoid the excessive levels of abloo.

Body language / facial expressions are the most obvious things they can improve upon. It lacks subtlety. Everything's too expressive even when it doesn't need to be.

I'm sure story pacing will eventually be a problem, too. But no evidence of that yet.

Hmm, I get what you are saying, and definitely can see how it could come off as that. You could probably take Judy's words like that.

My thoughts when I wrote that part of the story, when Judy admits to knowing Nick liked her, wasn't meant to be that she had wanted Nick to fight Jack for her, or that she didn't care about his feelings. Rather, Judy either did love or thought she loved Jack back then, and felt those feelings were stronger than whatever she had for Nick, which may or may not have been purely platonic at the time. Just because someone has feelings for you, doesn't mean you have to re-approach them. So she simply didn't give Nick a chance; he never asked her out, and she dated and married Jack.

It was only when her marriage started falling apart did Judy start to realize she could have been happy with Nick, who had stuck by her through it all, and made advances on him, arrogantly thinking he might still be interested. Only Nick wasn't going to stand for that; it might have been a different story if Judy actually divorced Jack and THEN went to Nick, but Nick could see Judy mainly wanted him to fill the void. It was fine Judy picked Jack over him, but she doesn't get to turn around and think he might still be interested at the drop of a hat years later.

The way I write it is that Younger Nick's more raw and passionate than in canon, but he's also less confident with less self-esteem. He tries to hide it, but things like Judy being willing to officially introduce him to her parents as The Boyfriend catches him by surprise. He's less jaded, but also kind of directionless.

Judy's got the same will of iron, tempered with experience, but the difficulties she's faced and her time on the job has made her more jaded and less caring and empathetic. She's losing sight of why she wanted to be a cop, just keeping her nose to the grindstone because it's what she's always done, but she's more or less lost the spark that made her join the force in the first place.

So you've got a younger, more fiery Nick clashing with an older, doesn't-take-shit Judy even more stubbornly and unconsciously entrenched in her ways than in canon. Once they get together, Judy sort of wears the pants in that she's older, giving Nick welcome direction and guidance, whereas Nick helps pull her away from the grindstone and start living again; he helps remind Judy of who she used to be, why she joined the force in the first place, and reignites the passion not just for the job but doing good that she used to have.

There's lots of ways to handle the new dynamic and that's why I think it's so interesting.

Not only CCs go through bad times.
But you notice them more, for two reasons: first, easier to understand, is that you know more (talking personally) about a named content contributor than an unnamed anon (I mean, CCs are anons too, but you understand what I'm saying).
The second is that making art can be a source of stress. Am I doing enough? Am I good enough? And so on. This adds to the normal, everyday life.
One can ask then why draw, why write, why create. Because it is worth it. You can receive great stress, it's true, but also great satisfactions. With every creation you put a little piece of yourself in a work, to show it to others. It can be really taxing. But it's worth it.
