At last, a new one. Last time I looked at the last thread, I was padded heading into a defense for my thesis. (Which once again a new idea for a cute pic)

I came back it updated and got archived, but I read through all of it, because of that I made a video about it so it could end now. I hope.

And please let's be friendly, I know some artists there are willing to help, so bring out that red marker and overlay that pic, but if its bad, like a try hard anthropomorphic-ish, well give them the pony tutorial, there's ton of them out there. And because of that I felt bad to myself, every one is not perfect, so correct me too if I am wrong, or something is off, especially with this pic.

If you want to debunk something about my video, please don't hesitate, we want to end it now.

I don't have a lot of time I need some sleep and recover from all of these stress, that's why I didn't colored it. And its better to correct when its just at the line art stage, because I colored it, fixing it is a hell. (Yes, it means I don't use layers)

Front limbs look a bit thin, especially on Scootaloo and Apple Bloom.
Another thing is that ponies don't really have shoulders, I'm not sure what would look best for Scoots and AB, but this is the closest reference I could think of for Sweetie Belle - just erasing the line you use to indicate a shoulder would probably be an improvement.

I think most of the points you made were fairly spot on. Only thing that seemed strange to me was the brownish urine you drew. I've seen that happen if it, say, sits on the rim of a toilet for a week or something, but I haven't seen or heard of it happening in a diaper while wearing it. I sure hope someone wouldn't have one on so long that the urine starts fermenting. Kind of makes me gag thinking about it.

As for your picture, I think it looks good for the most part. Sweetie's horn could be a bit small, and bloom's right arm looks like it's bent funny. And maybe they could be a bit thicker and longer. They would need to be as long and thick as the back legs since they stand on all fours.

I can't really content on the video's contents because I didn't watch much of it, but I can comment on the presentation of it.

Firstly, turn down the music a tad and maybe choose something a little more subtle than sharp noise techno stuff. Next, have all your examples pre-drawn so you aren't spending time doing so (the exception to this might be drawing how a wetting spreads through a diaper). Also, instead of doing colors on a black background, consider doing it with an actual picture to demonstrate how it would look in practice; the abstraction doesn't make it any easier to get your point across. Finally, I would recommend at least having a short form series of notes to read from since it felt like you were stumbling and repeating yourself. Having something to reference and guide you can greatly improve your ability to convey your points in a strong and understandable manner.

It's supposed to resemble the mottled look of a real diaper that's been wetted. If you, err, look at as many pictures as I do, you'll notice there's a pattern of sorts where they're wet.

Fair enough. It's probably a limitation of using the fuzzystatic brush in Sai; if I bothered to get some custom brushes I might be able to achieve a more balanced look.

If anyone is curious, I make the wet effect by magic wand-ing the diaper, add a layer at around 30% opacity and use airbrush with fuzzystatic at 5% density. Rinse and repeat for about five layers, give or take depending on how strong you want the coloring. I do the same for the indicators, but with higher opacity and the addition of some blurring.

Anyways, something that's sort of the opposite; a non-leaking edit.

I can't say I speak for the majority, but I prefer wet and messy. Just makes the most sense, and I imagine it's much more enjoyable for a pony to use their diaper to the fullest.

Just messy. A solid lump preferred, diarrhea isn't my cup of tea.
A good diaper should be able to absorb all excess liquid, in which case a wet diaper is fine too, even preferred depending on context like why the diaper is worn. But in art, far too often you get end results that are either leaking or discolored and oversaturated (with color).

Yes and no. Art Academy only exports at 640x480. Other drawing programs could export at higher resolutions such as Colors3D
