My gateway was almost a technicality.

Ouka of the Divine Fist was a badass brawler who happened to take on the Werewolf class in "The World". I didn't play Starfox Adventures when it first came out. My friend bought it and told me it was nothing like other Starfox games and that was enough to convince me not to buy it.

My gateway furry was Tails, but for different reasons.
It was on the school yard and a friend showed me this official artwork of Tails sleeping using his tails as bedding. For some reason I found myself enamoured with it, and it awoke a fascination with the character.
Seeing other official artwork like the swimming ring picture in the sandals further fascinated me, why did his feet look like that, etc.

As a furfag myself, that movie was a godsend. From the characters to score, attention to details, decent story, Zootopia was the best movie 2016 by a huge margin. It's interesting-- Star Fox Zero hardly inspired any OC since it's a very straightforward rehash of 64, but the Krystal OC kept rolling along at a consistent pace despite her not even being in the game. That's basically what happened for me. I started out with ecchi and hentai, but then I gradually started finding furry more and more interesting and now I fap to furry almost exclusively. I started finding anime girls boring because the all have that same face and the artist styles are becoming more and more hemogenized. With furry there are so many art styles, different animal types, and different fur colorings and styles that there's no shortage of variety in terms of attractive female character designs.

The thing about anime that might be a bit of a gateway towards furry in and of itself is that most anime girls don't even look like humans anyway. These days most anime artists can't even be assed to draw noses on them, because noses are no longer in style and your book or video is less likely to sell if the girls have noses. If you've already accepted the idea of fapping to something that is only a vague representation of a human, fapping to anthro characters is basically in the same neighborhood.

To further blur the line is the fact that so many anime characters are kemonomimi, at which point you're basically fapping to animal / human / ayy lmao hybrids. Liru is pretty much only a stone's throw away from being furry.

The line between kemonomimi and kemono is pretty blurry. Some claim that having a black nose makes it kemono, and others would say that it's not kemono until there's a snout. Some would argue that visible fur is where to draw the line, while others insist "it's just a monster girl" unless there's a black nose.

Kemono is literally just anime-style furry art, so when you've crossed that line there's not really any point in holding back unless you're just a hardcore weeb who hates all non-Japanese art while also having the anthro kink. And even then you'll probably fap to western furry art eventually.

I was too young for it to mean anything to me then, but when I did start puberty a few years later and became curious about porn, I started my search on those hentai sites as that was all I knew. Moreso than normal porn sites, hentai sites have heavy fetishes only a click away from the regular content, so it wasn't long before I ran into furry porn. I had (nonsexually) liked dragons for as long as I can remember, and when I ran into lewd dragons for the first time, it just struck a chord with me and slowly my interest in dragons became sexual as well. I'll never forget the way my heart jumped when I first saw porn of pic related, my favorite dragon.

I'm in a similar boat in that I'm 30 and I've never had a girlfriend. It's not that I'm disinterested in girls, but I kind of lost the feeling of desperation and urgency that my friends and siblings had. I think it happened sometime in college-- I wasted a lot of time pining for some girl who wasn't interested in me, doing the whole stupid "nice guy" routine and hitting her up on Facebook instead of paying attention to my grades like I should have been.

Maybe I'm doomed to keep climbing the wizardry ladder, or maybe I'll meet a nice girl tomorrow who is actually interested in me and can put up with my dopey hobbies. I don't really feel alone though, because I still have a family and friends even if I don't have a wife and kids.

This is what I sear got me into transformation, along with a few other movies and cartoons that have it as a one off episode (or in Animorphs case, EVERY episode).
I think I found a forum avatar with a sexyfur bunny, then I found Dr Comet, and it was all down hill from there.

I wouldn't call myself a furry though, I just really dig the porn.
