/lfxtg/ - Lapfox Trax General BRUTAL RHYTHM RIDER edition

'Round 2013 I used to listen to Renard & Lapfox a lot. Come Get Some, Post Traumatic, some Sonitus Vir, Bandetto, a bunch of the other artists. My most favorite albums were Robot Brainstronaut Blastoff, Figurehead, and The Killer's Notebook just to name a few.

But I started getting less interested in Lapfox when r is r who is r came out. Ren's music lost that touch with me—it wasn't the same, the old stuff was better. I was already starting to get into other artists like Savant, Coda, and later on Hot Sugar and Mellowdrone. My tastes were changing from that real fast and upbeat electronic shit to more downtempo, lofi, phonk and VGM-sounding stuff. So I stopped listening to Lapfox.

Man, Renard's work really took a turn for the worst in the past few years. Their last good album was probably in 2011 barring one or two decent ones in the years after. It sucks that they've gone from making just plain fun and good music in favor of MUH FEELINGS. They're Canadian so I guess we all expected it sooner or later but Renard's earlier work was a monumental piece of my younger days, it sure sucks watching the whole thing turn into what it is nowadays. I don't even care about the newest works anymore, no longer do I get excited when something new pops up because I know it's gonna suck. I've been going through the old Lapfox/Vulpvibe archives and it really strikes home on the nostalgia.

Anyway, what was you guys' first song? Mine was probably Year of the Bad Dragon, that shit was so cash.

Wow, that post hits the nail right on the head. I don't remember what my initial exposure was, it was probably Mayhem or Intensive Care Unit, and there so much of their (old) music that I love I couldn't settle on a single album to deem my favorite.

Back in 2012, a friend had a hunch and recommended me Alexandrian Ricochet Sphere. (in retrospect, mashups are pretty easy recs)
I thought it was neat and put in a playlist and eventually got addicted to it. slowly but surely i explored more Truxton stuff, and eventually moved on to other aliases, with my tastes growing.

Im still baffled by how I'm now into this shit. My immediate favorite (and still up there) was Powerhaus. (Mayhem/Klippa/Azrael/) pretty much everything released in 2012-2013 was a goldmine for me. Then by the time 'r is r' or whatever came out, I realized it was as fun.
