Sorry to hear that. I intentionally looked for drugs in my early 20s, but not to escape anything, but rather mental exploration. Only psychedelics, LSD, DMT, psilocybin, peyote, and ayahuasca. Helped me sort a lot of things out with anger issues and the like, blaming my parents over losing friends each time we moved, when it was just them doing their jobs and providing, simple stuff like that. Shifting your mental perspective even slightly is such a massive boon to being able to sort yourself out. Plus they were damn fun trips, too. Always had a sitter, only had one bad trip, and it was my own dumbass fault for mismeasuring dosage. Don't think I'd do anything addictive, trips on psychedelics are intense enough for me, do enjoy being a psychonaut, though.

Helping yourself would be incredibly difficult, so try to see if there is a Buddhist temple or monastery near you. I know, it sounds like some dumb bullshit out of an 80s movie, but they absolutely love helping people, and may be willing to help you begin.

Just give it a shot, try asking them for help, even if they turn you down, you've lost nothing but a bit of time and maybe some cab fare or fuel.

It is not a Sisyphean task, Anon. Going to someone that could help and asking for that help when you think there's nothing left and no way out is hard, but you have the capacity. You are already here, talking to me, it is no more difficult than this. What if all you needed to feel that weight lifted from your shoulders was that conversation? What if getting this help leads to you finding someone perfect for you?
