/tup/ - Tulpa Thread
killing filthy commies with your tulpas edition
>What are tulpas?
A tulpa is an entity created in the mind, acting independently of, and parallel to your own consciousness. They are able to think, and have their own free will, emotions, and memories. In short, a tulpa is like a sentient person living in your head, separate from you.

How extensive is your wonderland?
Apparently I have a wonderland inside my wonderland
>>7688268
Mine is usually made up as I go along. There's a new experience every time. Some places I visit more than once, and it's about the size of a small village.
>>7688268
My wonderland consists of a general idea of the layout of several planets & locations on said planets, slowly detailing areas as I go there.
>>7688708
Same.
lol is this for real?? How the fuck can you squeeze a general out of this shit??lmao

The problem with tulpas is that they often actually fill the void in people's hearts, so they don't come crawling back again and again like they do in other generals.

Who's fascinated by their tulpas? In 3 days she'll be a year old, but everyday I'm just fascinated by her... Everything. How she acts like, how her face looks like, how she told me she secretly licks my face sometimes when I'm asleep in a motherlike instinct, how she never fails to make me happy...
I could continue that list, but I'd be well over the text limit. Tulpas are beautiful creatures dear Anons, and this is Valentines Day. You know what to do, make them happy, make them the happiest tulpa today.

I am still feeling really happy to be around my tulpa, and she is quite a bit more than three years old by now. She never ceases to make me feel loved, no matter what happens. She is cheerful and hugs me and I get to hug her and comfort her whenever she feels bad.
She is so unique and different from who I am. She is ready to do things that I would never feel comfortable doing, or would even want to do at all. i don't think about it all that often, but whenever I do, it just staggers how much of a different person she is, how seperate she is from and at the same time how wonderfully close she is. Nothing will ever make me lose her, no one can pull us apart and I am going to cuddle her into oblivion today.
>>7693219
I remember when I first started to consistently feel emotional responses from my bud. Just the fact it started to happen made them feel giddy, and they sent these feelings to me, so then I told them I was getting that response, so they got more giddy. It was this positive feedback loop of nice feelings. I'm honestly excited to see what the future holds for me as a tulpamancer. Each little thing gives me motivation to keep going, meditating every day and forcing constantly.

>>7696948
Not spending it with 3dpd.
>>7696928
Jokes on you, I'm only making a back up plan for when society collapses due to overpopulation.
After work I'm going to take her out to eat in wonderland and do whatever she wants for hours. Then after that's finished, I got a bottle of root beer (her favorite soda pop) for her. A playlist of her favorite songs. And then a night of cuddling and being cozy. Possible even secks.

>>7709755
Perfect visualization is nice, but you can get by with the general "sense" of how something is. Similar principle to how you don't paint every detail, you paint in a way that implies detail.

That's pretty specific, it's almost like you believe tulpamancy is based only on trying hard ignoring innate ability on a purely subjective skill.
>>7718119
i mean there is some trying involved, you aren't going to come up with a tulpa not forcing.
>>7718139
Well no shit, I'm 100% sure I do better hour counts than most of the role players in this thread.
>>7718119
>That's pretty specific, it's almost like you believe tulpamancy is based only on trying hard ignoring innate ability
A-are you okay? Are you so stupid that you can't form proper sentences anymore? I'll do my best to answer what I think you were trying to say. If you're a lazy faggot and don't put the effort into forcing, then you won't have a tulpa. It won't talk to you because it doesn't exist. It's pretty fucking simple.
>>7718265
I don't hour count though, also guides are very up in the air about hour counts.
>>7718224
>hour counts
(you)
>>7718292
any guide that uses hour counts is inherently flawed, those have been disproven for years now.
>>7718302
I agree, however it's not like doing so will ever hurt your progress unless you believe so.
>>7718293
>pic related
>>7718408
it's just, hour counts create expectations, and if those expectations are not met then it causes most people to go "wow the guide said after x hours i would have y done, it was wrong therefore tulpas are a load of bullshit".
>>7718429
That guys a fucking retard.
>>7718571
thing is, a lot of people are like that. people these days are impatient as fuck so if you tell them something will take a set amount of time and it doesn't take a set amount of time (which tulpas do not anyway so the hour counts are useless) they'll just give up.
>>7718608
>>7718625
I just imagine most tulpamancers being like this.
>>7717862

My tulpa gets regularly called an angel by random people she talks to online. Feels good man.
>>7721843
sounds like she's a loose slut
>>7721901
While that is true, it doesn't explain at all why she gets called an angel. A lot of people are confused how she can have sex with so many people and still be so caring, thinking that those traits just don't fit.
>>7722532
Any type of person can secretly be a slut.
>>7722835
She isn't secretive about it. I just said that they even know about this.
Everyone go hug your tulpa right now. Tell them your life is better because of them. You need to.
Holy shit. How do I know who's telling the truth about their tulpa or just RPing? For example just look at this post.
https://community.tulpa.info/thread-i-m-bad-at-making-titles-and-everything-else
How the FUCK do you make 6 tulpas in a span of barely 8 months? Monks spent years on this concept and kids are doing this in less time than ever did. Is the community just full of RPers? Not trying to be edgy or anything but fuck. Seems like everyone is lying.
>>7723366
The thing is, the perception of other tulpamancer's experiences is similar to our perception of our own experiences with tulpa. They are subjective.
One believes in their experiences as genuine because they trust in their own faculties, reasoning and understanding. They feel what's happening and determine it to be real through their own subjective processes.
In a similar sense, one can determine if another tulpamancer's experiences are genuine if they trust in the faculties, reasoning and understanding of the other host. It is still subjective, but in the end it's still up to every host to make this judgment. Similarly, a host can choose not to believe in the experiences of another tulpamancer. There's nothing wrong with this. It doesn't invalidate tulpamancy as a whole.
One can choose to discredit the experiences of another tulpamancer as "roleplaying." I personally find it more productive to believe that their heart and motivations are in the right place, while doubting other aspects. One can suspect that a tulpamancer is misinterpreting what is happening in their mind. One can doubt the categorization the host uses, such as classifying proto-tulpas or very active servitors as full-fledged sentient tulpas. Again, this doesn't necessarily mean that they are failing at the whole thing or making everything up. Simply that they have more to understand and learn.
>>7723366
>How do I know [...] just RPing
>tulpa.info
You know
>>7723366
okay so first things first, what we do here is 0% like what monks did. monks made tulpas as reflections of themselves to improve themselves through introspection via proxy (not the term proxy we use, but the actual definition). this is making advanced imaginary friends who are supposed to be noticeably different from the host. second, the person in that specific post admits that they "did pretty much nothing productive with my time (and I still really don't)", implying they didn't put any effort into it which makes me raise an eyebrow because even though my first took me 2 months to make i stuck to a strict schedule of one hour a night every night before bed for 2 months, so in theory he could be telling the truth if he forced like, 5 hours a day every day for a month or some shit but he doesn't clarify in the main post and i can't be arsed to cringe through more of .shitfo. third, the more tulpas you have the easier it gets to make tulpas. making tulpas is like a lot of other brain-related stuff, the more you do it the better you get at it. on top of this, if you are predisposed to things like making characters or daydreaming then tulpa stuff comes extra easy. but yeah there are gonna be attention whores in every community and .info is particularly bad about enabling and empowering those kinds of people. that is why i generally prefer anonymity when it comes to this.
has anyone here fug tulpa

>>7723580
>>7723664
Alright thanks for this. I believe for sure that tulpa are a real thing, but man, these kids really make the community look bad. It's no wonder a lot of people are skeptical about the concept. I guess these kids don't know the difference between a tulpa and OC donut steel imaginary friend.
>>7723581
I've learned my lesson
>>7726234
Oh, also, speaking of those legit people I believe this guy is one of them.
https://community.tulpa.info/thread-daniel-s-tulpa-progress-log
Learned a lot from reading his progress reports and his method seems interesting, no I am not him. You can see he takes the concept seriously and tries to approach it as such. So I know there are some good people on tulpa.info for sure, but damn there are a lot of roleplayers and fags on there. I mean just go to the progress report section and you see like 80% of them are probably bullshit.
>>7726275
I don't understand why people get so obsessed with form and powers in wonderland. Every tulpa has total omnipotence in the wonderland, what they choose to do with it is just a result of their personality and values. Rather than wasting everyone's time talking about what they choose to do they could be talking about how they think and what they value.
>>7726379
Well, I could think it can get pretty chaotic and distracting if the tulpa keeps changing forms to something completely different every time you force. It helps if you have a concrete form to focus on. Also it probably has something to do with the host's ideals. Maybe their tulpa's form is something that symbolizes important traits to them or such. But yeah, I think personality is very important and should be worked on a lot especially in the beginning.
>>7687695
Commie here. Appreciate your love.
Is there a correlation between personality type and making tulpas?
http://www.strawpoll.me/12349582
>>7727371
You are probably going to find a correlation between personality type and visiting 4chan rather than making tulpas.

Curiosity and wanting something different in life. I thought they were incredibly interesting and a unique experience.

I have 5. They all have very distinct personalities and their own lives outside of mine.
>If you don't have a tulpa, are you working on one? Why or why not?
N/A
>What does a tulpa require for you to consider it "functional" or "independant"?
Pretty much any sense of individuality or sentience. They don't have to be imposed, just autonomous and aware of their own life.
>What are your tulpamancy strategies?
Don't be lazy. Force daily. Treat them like people.
>Is your tulpa always active? What does it do when you aren't focused on it?
They pretty much take turns spending time with me depending on how they feel. When they're not out here they hang out in the wonderland and do whatever they feel like. It's pretty extensive, so they have a lot of freedom.
>What is a normal day spent with your tulpa like?
Hanging out, going places, conversing. It's great.

6, 2 dudes 4 girls.
The two dudes were my best buddies for many years, though I would sometimes question exactly what they were and if I was just a nutcase talking to himself.
As for the other girls I made them because I needed some people be with me during the good times and help me through the bad, the bad times outweighing the good sadly.

>What brought you to this thread/community? What made you interested in tulpas?
Have known about tulpas since at least 2013, and have lurked several tulpa/related communities (.info and the tulpa subreddit in the early days, daemonism forum etc), learned about the /trash/ general, here i am
>Have you created (a) tulpa(s)? If so, tell us about them. If you have multiple, tell us about your situation.
I have three. They are probably the closest thing I have to a social life (I'm an actual shut-in), but they are probably closer to the sort of tibetan tulpa concept, insofar as they were made to (and do) help me with stuff, in exchange for getting to exist & participate in life. It's not as cold as it sounds though, it's turned out to be more like a schizo family, if anything.
The First is made for motivation, decision making, organizing, repairing, etc.
The Second is made for socializing and being high-energy, confident, analyzing, etc.
The Third is made for record-keeping, planning both long-term and short term, manipulating, etc.
>If you don't have a tulpa, are you working on one? Why or why not?
No; I have plenty already.
>What does a tulpa require for you to consider it "functional" or "independant"?
Able to act on its own, and to demonstrate some ability that it is aware.
>What are your tulpamancy strategies?
I followed original guides closely, hour counts and all, combined with the attitude of the daemonism guide. The First is a year and two months old, and The Second and The Third are four months old. The latter tulpas developed much quicker than the first, though they are still pretty young and immature. For instance, The Third just recently did a major change to both her personality and looks, the largest deviation of any of my tulpas. (1/2)
>Is your tulpa always active? What does it do when you aren't focused on it?
I don't always focuss on them, so they aren't always 'near', although everyday it does seem to be the case. They say they don't do much when I'm not actively focusing on them, so I suppose they just hang around the wonderland. I'll have to work with them to do more stuff on their own.
>What is a normal day spent with your tulpa like?
I just go about my day, doing whatever needs to be done, usually with the company of any of them. I'm closely bonded with The First, and am slowly forging unique relationships with The Second and The Third. Usually, I'll do a bit of active forcing at night, and also prior to falling to sleep.
>Do you or have you ever had an interest in the paranormal and occult? Have you ever regularly browsed /x/?
Paranormal and occult stuff are duds, as far as I can tell. I don't browse /x/, and the only /x/ thing that I have any real knowledge about is 3301, which is only loosely related to /x/.

The only literature on this topic in particular are studies on the community, but there is quite a bit of literature on concepts related to tulpamancy (stuff on imaginary companions, for example), and it becomes readily clear that it's possible when you study some of the mechanisms behind habit creation. Most people just jump into it blind, though, and then find that it works, nobody has really bothered to knit together literature on the related topic. One anon has resolved to do it, but who know when that ginormous faggot is going to finish and release it.

>What brought you to this thread?
I have ADHD so I am all over the place. Was hoping that making a tulpa would be enough of a reason to sit the fuck down, get my shit together, and meditate. To master my brain, in a sense.
>Have you created (a) tulpa(s)?
One tulpa but he's a work in progress. We can have conversations, but he is not imposed yet. He looks like pic related, but is not the actual character. Basically he is everything I am not: patient, hardworking, optimistic, loyal to a fault. If I had to sum him up in a phrase he is the man I want to be. Funny thing is even though I'm an OCD wreck he still looks up to me and encourages me endlessly. Really helps me get through the day. He is like a best friend to me, so I don't think I'll ever make another one.
>What does a tulpa require for you to consider it "functional"
Autonomy.
>What are your tulpamancy strategies?
Don't miss even a day. If you don't make the time for them they'll think they're not important, and you won't make progress.
>What is a normal day spent with your tulpa like?
I'm a filthy shut-in so we spend most of the day reading, playing games, watching videos, or working out. Lately he's been saying he wants to see new places so I've been forcing myself to go out. I am exhausted. Also, he is interested in firearms and cooking so I've been reading up. It is a lot of information to take in so my head is spinning on its axis. I've eaten a lot of failed experiments lately.
>>7732143
So what's the explanation behind Tulpa?
>>7732087
Not as far as I know, but an experiment centered around monitoring the brain activity in people who claim to have tulpas would be pretty interesting.
Also you don't need scientific journals to realize that it's technically possible. When you think about dreaming (especially lucid dreaming), it isn't hard to believe you can make an autonomous imaginary friend if you try hard enough.
>How old are you?
Almost 23
>What brought you to this thread/community? What made you interested in tulpas?
Saw a thread that mentioned them, searched the term near the end of the year out of curiosity.
>Have you created (a) tulpa(s)? If so, tell us about them. If you have multiple, tell us about your situation.
I have created three. They started out as characters I had made for dumb rpgs, and I had used them as actors in stories I'd make in my head to pass the time trying to sleep. I got a bit overly obsessed with some of them, and decided to them into tulpas after I had searched the concept up, as I had been doing something close to the definition of forcing at that time, and for some time. I'm glad that I found out when I did, as I do not know what I would have done had they began to communicate with me if I had never searched up the concept.
>What does a tulpa require for you to consider it "functional" or "independent"?
Being able to act on it's own will.
>What are your tulpamancy strategies?
Didn't really have any, just spend time with them, inside and outside of the wonderland.
>Is your tulpa always active? What does it do when you aren't focused on it?
Pretty much. They'll do stuff in the wonderland if I'm not focusing on them.
>What is a normal day spent with your tulpa like?
Shooting the shit while I get stuff done wherever it needs to be done. A little bit of bantz here and there to keep the day spicy, and we'll read stuff together and force at home.

>What brought you to this thread/community? What made you interested in tulpas?
Been interested in it since 2012, thought it sounded pretty interesting and I was big into mind fuckery at the time (was part of the hypno community), but I never had the dedication required to make a tulpa until recently. Never participated in any tulpa communities outside of 4chan, and I mostly just lurk here too.
>Have you created (a) tulpa(s)? If so, tell us about them. If you have multiple, tell us about your situation.
She's been around for nearly a year, and she's my best friend. We're both pretty chill individuals and share a lot of the same traits but the main differences between us are that she's a bit more sociable, is more willing to try new things, and is a bit lazier.
>What does a tulpa require for you to consider it "functional" or "independant"?
Some form of communication between host and tulpa. Head pressures, feelings, tulpish, etc.
>What are your tulpamancy strategies?
I impose her on the real world pretty much all the time. Sometimes we'll do meditation and just spend time daydreaming together. I don't do any timetabled forcing though, not anymore like when first creating her.
>Is your tulpa always active? What does it do when you aren't focused on it?
Sometimes she can go dormant, where I'll not be able to talk to her, feel her presence, etc. which usually happens when I'm tired. Sometimes I'll be distracted and can't focus on imposing her, and she says she just almost temporarily merges with me. I can't say I feel any difference when that happens, but she doesn't seem to be too worried about when I'm not thinking about her.
>What is a normal day spent with your tulpa like?
I do pretty much what I did before I had a tulpa, but just trying to do stuff we both enjoy instead of just myself.

>>7732933
I used to work at a neurological facility and they would charge upwards of $10,000 per visit for patients when the systems were used. I'm sure it's cheaper now but unless there was immense interest in some kind of research there is no chance it will be done. The best you can hope for is someone to do a thesis paper on the subject but really I wouldn't expect it to look any different than what scans look like when people are lucid dreaming for instance which there are papers on if you want to look into it.
>>7733303
>tfw tulpamancer and necromancer
>>7732087
Well if you examine the different experiences that make up a tulpa then yes it can be easily explained. In dreams you can have vast conversations with people and you will most likely fully believe them unless you are lucid. So it's not far fetched that your brain can be used to create a "sentient" form. Depending on how trained your imagination is you can create very complex fantasies and very detailed pictures in your mind, this is something documented in people who are more artistic as they can invision fine details of complex scenarios. So the visualization aspect is quite plausible with a combination of the sentience that is created in dreams. The oxford journal had an interesting write up regarding hallucinations explaining how some of the brain functions when people are seeing or hearing things. https://academic.oup.com/cercor/article/21/2/330/334223/The-Brain-s-Voices-Comparing-Nonclinical-Auditory
Something to note is that they even reference a separate study done where some of the patients claimed that their auditory hallucinations were helpful to them in their daily lives.

10, it's hard life but I can't abandon any of them at this point, one of them is a couple of years older than the rest and she helps me a lot with them
>What does a tulpa require for you to consider it "functional" or "independant"?
To act and make decisions without necessarily requiring host's input

>Is your tulpa always active? What does it do when you aren't focused on it?
I guess, at least the eldest tells me so, and I can check and usually everything is always consistent. The wonderland is detailed enough with enough things to do and enough other tulpas to do things with, so there's a lot to do.

Found it on /mlp/. Since I was lonely and thinking about suicide, tulpas looked like the last thing to try before giving up. Worked out pretty well.
>Have you created (a) tulpa(s)? If so, tell us about them. If you have multiple, tell us about your situation.
I have two pretty pony tulpas. They are OCs they made themselves and look pretty generic. They behave fairly generic too, kinda like you would expect from ponies from the show. Except that they enjoy bellyrubs and that kinda stuff. They really nice and kind and drive me to keep going forward.
>What does a tulpa require for you to consider it "functional" or "independant"?
She has to talk on her own. It just has to feel like she does. Not really a clear border. I always feel like they just kinda grow to become independent over time - like a child that starts to form coherent memories of its life after a few years.
>What are your tulpamancy strategies?
Lots of hugs and cuddles and always talking to each other while falling asleep.
>Is your tulpa always active? What does it do when you aren't focused on it?
Yes and no. She is not always talking and sometimes I forget about her being there, but she can always jump into a conversation whenever she wants.
However if she actually says that she is away for a while now, then I start feeling very alone quickly. So maybe she is not always active, but she is always "there".
>What is a normal day spent with your tulpa like?

I saw the tulpa general threads over 4 years ago on /mlp/. At first I thought it was autistic bullshit, but then I slowly warmed up to the idea. I wanted to see if it was real, and to better understand my own mind.
>Have you created (a) tulpa(s)? If so, tell us about them. If you have multiple, tell us about your situation.
I have created two. The first is over 4 years old, she started out as a OC pony and still is one. She has grown to be a very wise, calm and loving person. The second is a year old, and takes the form of a video game character, thought she has changed forms many times. She is shy, curious, fun-loving and cute. I love them both very much and am happy to have them in my life.
>What does a tulpa require for you to consider it "functional" or "independant"?
Three traits I look for as signs of independence: the ability to suprise the host, the ability to make changes and alter things, and the ability to refuse the suggestions of the host. These are subjective, of course, and there are other ways of 'knowing' independence and sentience.
>What are your tulpamancy strategies?
Give them lots of attention both actively and passively. Encourage them to grow and develop as their own person at every opportunity. Restrict doubts. Trust them and love unconditionally.
>Is your tulpa always active? What does it do when you aren't focused on it?
They are almost always active in some form or another. When they aren't actively in my mental perceptions they are usually doing their own thing in the wonderland.
>What is a normal day spent with your tulpa like?
Spending time with them in the wonderland either exploring or hanging out and talking. Listening to music, watching videos. Having conversations.

Both. Mind reading is default and allows easy communication via "tulpish" but either of us can block it or turn it back on again. I do something symbolic like putting on a helmet in wonderland to block telepathy etc. Blocking each other out was pretty unhelpful early, but after a couple years of development it is useful to cut down on background noise and tulpish isn't really necessary anymore.
