Pack street updates, bunanon hates the preds,
Carrot pop and bounce houses, no zoot 2,
Honick is cannon, bunanon loves red,
Beaver's vacation, a stalker raccoon,
Comicanon is lewded yet again,
Nobby does a stream, fic updates soon,

Clawhauser and Fangmeyer dated in highschool and early in their career. He started out as Officer Bogo's partner before a traumatizing case sent him into a crippling depression.
He returned to the force after a year of R&R, and due to some hush and hush between the local government and him, regulations are lax around him.
Fangmeyer misses the lean, fierce Clawhauser she fell in love with. She doesn't mind his new, bubbly attitude though.

Alright, I opened up my history book and learned about newspapers. I still say this isn't punishment, just a history lesson!
Let's see here...
>>7657785
"lewd the vrbit"
>>7657785
The theory goes that ‘news’ comes from the mammalian trait of telling stories. Zoologists theorize that the ability to tell stories was an evolutionary benefit to a species’ survival-- basically, the stereotypical big, strong, violent alphas that ruled the packs and herds of old were beaten out by storytellers.
Consider the case of a wolf pack: a big, strong, violent alpha could help hunt for food, protect the pack, and maintain order with the members, but a wise, charismatic leader could do even better! The stories they told could teach others better hunting techniques as a whole; peace could be maintained with the outside world through mutually beneficial diplomacy rather than threat of force that could lead to violence; and pack order could be maintained through social cohesion, whether by being a wise and friendly mediator that keeps everyone happy or a vicious rumor-spreader who ruins the trust in would-be rivals and expelling them from the pack.
As packs and herds grew to tribes and settlements, the chiefs and alphas would pass down stories, news, rules, and decrees through others: pack societies, such as wolves, would task betas to retell the stories of the alpha, and herd societies, such as zebras, had a societal emphasis on repetition throughout the group.
It wasn’t until mammals grouped in huge societies that the need for disseminating news became institutionalized. For instance, the Romawn Empire used to have ‘the daily actions of the world’ chiselled onto stone tablets in public places; scribes would copy this information and run to different areas of the kingdom to cry the information out to others (since widespread literacy is a relatively recent phenomenon, someone had to tell the news-- the louder the better, too). And such criers would even go to rabbit burrows under those kingdoms!
>>7657803
This… was usually not interesting information for the bunnies. Who cares whether some viceroy had lost favor with some duke? They had fields to till! Instead, rabbit burrows (and other traditionally rural mammals) would rely on interpreters to relay what was important about the information-- e.g., a declaration by the king that the deer armies gathering on the border were absolutely nothing to worry about might translate to “figure out what deer like to eat and start planting it”.
When literacy rates improved, the newspaper became the preferred method of writing and receiving news. For the most part, it was the same translation of events and stories made palatable and pertinent for those who read it. However, one innovation that newspapers gave mammals was the ability to be anonymous, and for anonymous conversations to take place. This was huge: wisemammals, sages, oracles, and moral judicators were and are staples of every society, but it's harder to ask embarrassing questions when your identity is known.
Both became solved by the invention of the Advice Column. Advice Columns offered the expert opinions from ‘purveyors of common sense for day-to-day vexations”, and accepted letters anonymously. This allowed for normally touchy or taboo subjects to be discussed. In fact, one of the first advice columns was started in the 17th century’s Athfelinenian Gazette, where a tiger requested advice about how to come clean to his wife about his infidelity. After that, the publication was flooded with anonymous letters requesting advice in similar subjects, from what to do about cheating spouses, how to court a mate, how to liven up a marriage, and even tips to keep affairs secret! The cat was out of the bag: people wanted to talk about this stuff, and now they had a way to do so!
>>7656822
thats hot.
So, we've gotten pretty good at recognizing artists here by style. What about writers? Can you sum up a writer's style?
I'd especially love to hear Comic's take on it.
>>7656963
are you suggesting remmy is an unevolved cave sheep?
>>7657817
Advice columns can cast a fascinating light on the cultures they come from. Let us compare two newspapers, both from the 18th century:
In the first, a male spotted hyena wrote to an Afurikan newspaper complaining that though his marriage appeared happy to others, his wife beat him and was unfaithful; the advice columnist provided advice that portrayed the unequal treatment of males in traditional spotted hyena society: “It is something that your wife has the decency to keep up appearances before outsiders. Continue to conduct yourself before the whole world as a faithful and happy husband and father, and smile while your heart aches. That shows the stuff a brave man is made of.”
In the second, a female spotted hyena wrote to a Furench newspaper, explaining that a hated rival had offered to duel her over a male they were both interested in, and asking whether to duel them to the death with sword or pistol. The advice columnist (in fact a male spotted hyena, who were often portrayed as dandies and bon vivants outside of Afurika) replied to chose either, “for if you run your antagonist through the body, or she shoots you, tis great odds the survivor comes to be hanged either way; and then there’s good riddance of two ridiculous hot-headed hellcats, and sanctuary for the poor sir who must suffer you both.” Damn, that smarts!

I do feel I have a style, but in this case it's probably just the material.
Heres an ozzy I've been working on. I think I might take some requests later on tonight, but I'm gonna take a break and play some vidya before hand.
>>7657850
So what about bunny newspapers? Well, on the surface, they look like glorified almanacs about crop prices and the weather. In bunny towns, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for entire newspapers to be run by and distributed throughout a single family, with all the latest forecasts, local events, blah blah blah-- this is just the leaf of the carrot. The real reason any bunny buys a paper is for--
The gossip section!
That’s where the good stuff is! You get to learn about who’s sneaking off to which neighboring burrow in the middle of the night, which kits got caught drinking behind the farmhouse when they should have been working, embarrassing photos of bunnies who got fat in swim trunks! There’s a reason some bunnies were used as investigative journalists for mud flinging magazines-- when you grow up with 275 siblings, you learn to learn everyone’s darkest secrets!
Hey, I’m not saying they’re going to win a pulitzer, but don’t judge bunny newspapers anymore than you judge any other mammals’! FuzzFeed had “17 photos of Jessica Dewlap she didn’t want you to see!” on it's front page for a month!
In fact, the internet changed how news is made and distributed in Zootopa, since the ease of access to free mass communication allows us all to report on news and find the articles that interest us, whether it be about the results of the election between Canidae and Swinton, or gossip about whether Terry and Hamilton will or won't. And of course, just as a brave bunny from the burrows showed us all, we can anonymously ask others whenever we need a little common sense advice (for instance, about how to ask a fox out on a date). In that way, whether we’re sitting around the fire and sharing stories, going to the center of town to hear the crier, reading a newspaper, or refreshing our feeds on our phones, we’re all still eagerly waiting for stories to help us understand the world a little bit more.
Hope you enjoyed this one!

Gossip about lewd VRbit will or won't, little bunny
You know, thinking on the whole "Mouse overpopulation experiment" from the last thread, it makes me think of how scientific research is done in Zootopia. We learn a lot by doing experiments on animals, some ethical, some non-ethical; what research discoveries would not exist in Zootopia since all mammals are sapient and obviously they wouldn't use any species as lab rats. Would they just substitute fish/birds/reptiles instead?
>>7657896

And one last shill:
William's working late on the night of his big date, and its gotten to the point where stress is taking its toll. Without a lot of experience in romance, he starts to think about what his role model would do in such a situation. Will Nick be able to inspire desire within the fumbling fox? Is there any way to inflate the ego of the poor fool? Find out in What Would Nick Do?, by PseudoFox!

Difficult subject to tackle, since there are some things that are exclusive to mammalian bodies.
But I think that they will learn about biology and anatomy much faster. When you can analyse the bodies of tens of different species you can understand how it all works much easily by examining the differences and the similarities.

WERE IS THE ANT?
Contrary to popular belief, Anneke and Wolter are not twins
They are in fact siblings, but people only say they look alike because they're dirty fucking racists

The cat ate the ant.
>>7658339

>>7658470
Must have been one hell of an ant to take out that poor kitties legs.
hey there anons, sorry if i'm late to the anniversary!
I dug up an old statement I made way back, and wanted to say it again:
We are amidst strange anons, in a /trash/land.
The flow of comfy itself is convoluted, with Preds and Preys phasing in and out. There's no telling how much longer our timezones will allow us to remain in contact. But, here i'll be, ready to engage in jolly comfyposting!
Of course, we are not the only one engaged in this.
But I am a warrior of the comfy!
What do you think? Why not join me, as a warrior of the Comfy?
Righteous posters, guardians of all that is comfy, in the name of the Zootopia (and WildeHopps)!
this last year was all in all a good one, and I hope we have another one just as good and comfy!

Well the reason I requested pyromancer is that in dark souls lore they are seen as less than commoner rif raff by the 'true' magical community. Figured that worked with Stink Twink pretty well... wonder how the others in Shorty Squad would fit. I could see Percy as a quality build melee duder. Maxine though.. no idea, would she round out the group as a miracle slinging support? Go down the magic rode and shoot pew pew lasers? Spear and shield? Archer?
I know its kinda lame but I really like imagining characters in dark souls... is good fun.
>>7658595
You have a good night tuber! Thanks again for the cool pic!
Well I showed my friend pack street. He said it was "really well written"! He's hooked. Does anyone have the cannon weaver comics. Like the one with v's brother? He wants to see it.

>>7658989
I sadly don't know enough about Dark Souls lore, as much as I'd like to. I pictured Percy as a speedy rogue-like, but a melee fighter works just as well. Maxine I'd see as a defender/tank or, like you said, support.
> the reason I requested pyromancer is that in dark souls lore they are seen as less than commoner rif raff by the 'true' magical community

>>7660318
>weaver, if wolter (in a dress acting as anneke) were to be dancing with remmy in a public place, who would be grinding on who?
All right, I'm only gonna say this once, because you're asking me directly
it's something that's kinda stuck in my craw but it's not generally a big enough deal for me to gripe at people for, so I'm just gonna voice it once and then leave it alone for every future time it inevitably comes up
Wolter's not gay.
Writing the aardwolf twins, I set out with a VERY specific goal in mind, and an artistic plan, which was essentially to avoid as many "twin tropes" as I could while still playing off the concept
I didn't want them to be Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. As fun as it is for me to write characters who'll finish each other's sentences and mimic each other's behaviors, I didn't want the twins to be that. I didn't want them to have some special vaguely-psychic connection or deeper empathy or anything trite like that. They look alike and they have similar(ish) tastes, but I wanted to make it very clear they were each, definitively, their own mammal.
As a result even though they both have some very healthy libidos, I didn't go the "ravenous omnisexual" route with them, where they'll just both fuck anything that moves. Here too I was trying to avoid making them interchangeable (at least in anything but looks).
As a result it's not just "oh this isn't what I imagine for the character in my mind"
It's a direct contradiction to one of the tenets of the character's very foundation.
So to answer your question: neither. Wolt's canonically not gay, and he's literally said so in the story. If you want to write/draw him as gay, I can't stop you, and I'm not gonna lose sleep over it
But don't try to act like it's based on anything canon and don't ask me to give it any credence
Paper and Pen anon here.
Please give draw requests so I can forget about this cruel, cruel world.
How does /ztg/ deal with life's ability to hurl stupid bullshit at you?

I'm not trying to throw shade or anything, and this isn't just about "please don't do fanart where my straight character is gay", it's, again, a result of how I created the character
Making him just Anneke with a penis is undercutting stuff I've been really striving for in writing them
And I guess it's especially a sore subject because no matter how much I work on that it seems like 90% of readers don't notice/don't care and just keep projecting the twin cliches onto them regardless

>>7660725
This.
I never even saw anyone using twin tropes, but I don't really read fics. Just look at art.
I won't say there are people that don't disregard characterization and things like that, but I always saw it as people fucking around. I think most people who like the ship like the character dynamic, or just think it's kinda funny.
Even then I can see how seeing a ship over and over again non-stop would also get annoying.

I'm in that same boat. Why else are we here if not to have fun? And if people think that's fun, by all means. But conflating it with established, contradictory characterization is another thing entirely, and it's completely fair for the guy behind said establishment to be a bit miffed by that.

Except for Avo, who is exactly who she seems to be.
>>7660779
The problem again is that it's something intrinsically against the character
Like if you wanna write that Rex is gay or Marty is gay or whatever that's fine, but Wolt being straight is fundamental to his character because of how it makes him distinct in his interests from his sister
Like writing Al as gay would be the same problem as against his character (being dependent on inclusion with Velvet) unless you wanted to say Velvet was secretly just a very femmy guy
it's undermining the character, not the weird headcanons, that bothers me
>>7660731
goddamn Skunkly went from fat to fit
THE POWER OF A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP
>>7660837
I'm not arguing that at all. I think you're totally right and Weaver is justified to feel the way he does.
Just that it's not everyone's intent to butcher his characters or state that they know better than the creator himself.
>>7660840

of course he's not fucking gay, we've seen him hitting on girls before
Just because you're weaver, and you've pulled a lot of ruses in the past, I'm going to assume that it's intentional that you say "not gay" as opposed to "straight".

Fuck this 24 hour spew of catalogued and TV personality endorsed Bullshit! Fuck Brand pride, fuck the commercials! Fuck all of it!
>>7660858
I can see that.
I just personally think there's a difference between drawing that sort of thing for shits and giggles or because you like the character dynamic and doing it purely to undermine the original work/intent in character.
On top of that while I feel a lot of characters can work with having their sexualities being a key part of their character and I think it's important for fans to remember that they are straight/gay/whatever, it's kind of much to think someone's trying to spit on what you were setting up, especially if they weren't aware it was an issue.
Most people ship for the dynamic, not because they want to see hot people fuck. Of course there are probably those people out there too.
If people were going around going 'WOLTER IS 100% GAY' (and I've seen it) I'd get it, but that's not how everyone feels.
Now that people are aware of it there will hopefully be less of it, especially since it (rightfully) gets under your craw.
Also what >>7660910 said. I know there's more to Wolt and Anneke than that, but I can see why the post you made above would make it sound like that's the biggest issue. Know that's not the case, but it doesn't paint a pretty picture.
>>7661073
So far its just that picture and the others i drew of them. HEnrietta has been drawn a lot, and Diana is just a maned wolf with a patch over her right eye
>>7661049
Make love no war
i personally don't think that wolter dressing up as a girl always has to be gay. i figured he'd be down for some kinky play with another girl.

Ok, you got me to smile, you cheeky anon. I would be alarmed too if I was being hit on by a floating rabbit head. Nick's expression is great. Thanks!

>>7660858
can you elaborate on what makes heterosexuality important to wolt's character?
Sexual attraction, and by extension a lack thereof, can obviously have a huge impact on character and motivation, but "not being attracted to men" hasn't really come up as an important point.
Additionally, saying it makes him distinct from his sister is a little arbitrary. Like, you could say "they're both interested in heterosexual sex"
>>7660879
>I wouldn't want Avo to change in any way.
Note that I don't mean it as a bad thing! Avo's lack of hidden depths is refreshing. She's the only member of the crew who seems to genuinely enjoy her life.
That said, she's probably got a rough patch coming up, what with her job and all. I expect the gang will be passing the hat to help her make rent.
>>7661185
not that it isn't his right to do what he wants with his characters, i enjoy them either way...
but i always got the impression they both like to fuck an they aren't concerned about guy, girl.
of course, i am biased.
>>7661230
I do think Weaver intended to make them sleazy and down with sex, but not sex crazy nymphomaniacs.
If they're straight they're straight, and Wolter has said he is a couple times.
>>7661127
Thanks dude! I've been trying to worm away from using the same facial expressions. Now I have to work on mouths/muzzles.
>>7660910
>>7661087
>>7661185
look please don't miss my point here
of course if you guys want to draw wolt being gay just because you like wolt and want to see him being gay then sure, go nuts
this is also why I specifically said that i did not speak up on this topic until now and i won't again, and this is only because i was specifically, pointedly asked about it
>>7660910
>I don't mean to insult your characters because I love them, but if him not being gay is the only thing that separates his interests from his sister...you probably need to flesh that out some more.
don't be fucking willfully dense
I've said at every turn that it's one of the tenets and how it's reflective of my overall trends of delineating them so cut the strawman shit about "oh so is that ALL that's different???"
>>7661230
>i always got the impression they both like to fuck an they aren't concerned about guy, girl.
THIS is exactly the kind of thing I'm trying to avoid
the fact that people are projecting these twin tropes onto them regardless of what the stories actually say and that the lines of fanon blur enough for anyone to read them that way

>Wolter
>-Really laid back, can come off as tired or dim
>-Casual

I can imagine Anneke going off on someone while Wolter is trying to hold her back. I can also imagine Wolter being moderately slighted and Anneke standing up in his defence as he's trying to take things calmly.

How about just wanting to see him bounce of a character dynamically regardless of gender?
I feel like you're missing a point too. It's fine if you don't want to see it. It's fine that you see him depicted as gay as a problem.
Some people don't really focus on that though. They just like the dynamic of two characters. They're not trying to shit on what you do. If you feel that way that's your right, but it's not true of everyone.
It's good you addressed it though. Still love your work, what you do, and see why it'd bug you.

i want to draw wolt being crossdressed and fucked and being ashamed that he liked it, but i don't think that's how he actually is...though that would be hot. i am biased, since that is my fetish. and he's definitely not the only character who will fall victim to it.
a stream sounds nice.
>>7661597
not really, i know wolter isn't gay and weaver is pretty not-gay...but that don't mean i wont take it and run with it because it's what gets me going.

>>7661626
>>7661627
This didn't start because people were talking about gay Wolter, they've been doing that for like a hundred threads now. It started because someone asked Weaver about what Weaver would do in a gay scenario and then got bootybothered by Weaver's response being 'um he wouldn't because he's not gay, it's cool if you like the idea of him being gay but the canonical answer is no'.
>>7661615

>mismatched work uniforms
This implies even though they are both in work uniforms, their work uniforms don't match, meaning they don't work at the same place.
>>7662011
Fair enough. Too early to tell who else was collateral damage, but Avo might have gotten caught in the middle. Egyptian Cotton might be deader than Ramses II.
>>7662183
It could also imply that Pandora simply doesn't have them dress in coordinated uniforms. Also, the use of 'on their lunch breaks' seems to seal the deal for me.
Or it could mean that they're wearing one part of each other's uniform, which would mean that they're scissoring on the low
