trips confirmed.
Some had asked for
>a collection of fics that don't stray too far from the style, tone, and canon of the movie?
But we got new thread so I'll repost it again for anyone else.
There are a few I can think of the top of my head. Honestly one of the best one's I can think off is this one:
http://archiveofourown.org/works/7569217/
Slow Burn (like really slow) and the start of his writing is a bit airy. But it's gets quite great as it goes on.
http://archiveofourown.org/works/6261835
http://archiveofourown.org/works/6283996
Both have a pretty laid back feel to them, and are super romantic and fluffy.
http://archiveofourown.org/works/6440899/
Easily his best and my favorite of his work, but all of the fic's he writes fit under what I think you want.
http://archiveofourown.org/works/6189262/
This one is a bit more adult, but has a great mystery to it. And handle's inter-marriage and relationship's amazingly well.
Granted these are ALL WildeHopps, but that's because I don't read any friendship only fic's but I am sure they are out there.

>>7591196
There was just one obvious mistake I noticed:
>.. just to get a decent grip the fucking hammer
Do you mean "a decent grip _on_ the..."?
Besides that, the best part of the story was the dialgoue in the cafe itself. You began to narrate their date, which still worked well and communicated a lot of information that would otherwise take much longer to get across with dialogue, but it did lose some of the repartee.
That's just my druthers, though. This is one of my favorite Martina stories I've read. "Course I know there's no fuckin' vegetarian option, you stupid fuck" is probably the best line I've read in any fic in a long time, brilliant addition there.

It's great - it teaches you to be a little kinder, work hard for your dreams and that admitting to your own mistakes is a sign of strength, not weakness. It's much more deeper than a regular children movie about talking animals and the worldbuilding is excellent, so I suggest you give it a try.

Why are there so many fanfics with saturday morning villains doing lol so edgy shit with barely any motivation aside from money/power or because they are villains?
I mean I don't want a whole sobby backstory chapter tacked in to justify him like some animu villain, I just thought there would be more variety or even a villain that rather than being actively evil was actually nice and just had a different views from the protagonist.
>>7591886
Characterization is hard. A lot of the people that write fanfiction lean on there being already established characters to use, and flail clumsily when they have to make one of their own.
>>7591870
Great stuff.
>>7591886
it doesn't help that the villain in the movie did it for no other reason than power and 'fuck the predz lel'

>>7591898
>villian doing it for power
If it works in the real world, it works for animation. Fear always works!
>>7591474
...You're saying that like it's something new when it's a consistantly recurring theme with people.
Theres at least been a few cases where it even extends to someone's own kin. In at least one case, some deplorable hollywood type left her estate to her pet poodle, didn't even acknowledge her offspring in the will.
It didn't go through, I heard, but that austrian border guard's battered step-son is just one example.
People as a whole consistantly treat pets and animals with higher esteem than say... Homeless people, drug addicts, correctional inmates, etc.
Joe Arpaio's famous for a lot of things, and one of them is gloating about paying more to feed his tent prison's guard dogs than the inmates he feeds rotten food to.
The more you turn someone like Hitler into a cartoon villain, the less you have to learn from them.

>>7591932
>Homeless people, drug addicts, correctional inmates
For me personally, I can honestly say I have little regard for these types. Not trying to be edgy, they had their chance/chances and blew it time and time again. I'm no animal rights activist but the animal isn't really at fault for their conditions.
I do have genuine sympathy for those who are a victim of others and are stuck in a situation they did not create for themselves.
fitting that hart is another word for a male deer, because artemis has stolen my heart
>>7591898
>>7591922
>Lust for power and xenophobia are pretty strong motivators, to be fair.
Pretty much this- people have killed for less. Bellwether was tired of being a "little guy" who was pushed around, she used predators as a stepping tone to gain power. She finally got to the top of the metaphorical food chain, and she wasn't going to give up that power. She probably had a thing against preds, but I kind of find it annoying when people take it over the top- she seemed more concerned with her position than her hatred of predators.
>>7592040
Cute
>>7591932
I know this is what people often do.
I even know person like that.
But I said it as an example. I've read this fic, "A world of her own" is the name I think, the doctor was explaining to Judy that WW1-2 happened and so on. I just imagined him telling Judy that this tyrant caused deaths of milions while he was harshly punishing any harm done to animals.
Believe me I do not take people like Hitler or Stalin lightly.
Not counting memes of course.

Good to know the typesetting is getting done; don't feel rushed on my part. Thanks as always for doing it, by the way.
>>7592159
>>7592159
Considering Jack's in this comic (or at least mentioned) I think the author definitely took inspiration from pre-Zoot elements
>>7592052
Bellwether had an actual motivation though, I'm talking about wanting power because of power and wanting money because of money. Sure, both happen in real world, but in the real world we also get people who overwork day after day without reason aside than pay mortgage who is OMGZORS complete real but boring as fuck to read.
In Bell case she wanted power because she was mistreated, she wanted to REMAIN in power because of it, and used predators attacks for it. I'm talking of villains who wanted to be in power because they wanted to be in power because they want to be in power, and want to remain in power because they want to remain in power.
But I guess considering the replies I'm the only one with this problem, maybe I should head to books instead.
>>7591144
are there any stories dealing with the fae?
>>7592211
Jack is mentioned just as a random name, though. Dogear never drew non-canon non-OC characters.

I mean, I'm one of those "Love those that least deserve it because that's when they need it most" types, but no, I can understand where you're coming from.
It's just that it's kind of like just throwing gold away instead of reconstituting it back into ore, or just leaving radioactive waste around.
I could argue that everyone has at least some potential to be a productive member of society, but that'd also fail to adress that human life has merit, regardless of potential.
Besides, we don't exactly have any more islands left to toss our undesirables at anymore. We had Australia and that was it.
So... Instead of just making people worse and then just ignoring them until we can't, then get mad about it...
We're kind of stuck with what we have. And it's folly to not make some kind of effort to turn lemons into lemonade.
There's at least a logic to altruism.

>>7593657
Take a look at her lunchbox - that's how we guessed it's her name, however there has been some disagreement whether the lat loop some space apart from Sky is "e" or not.
If you take a look at Byron's handwriting, it most likely is. "Skye" sounds a bit more like name-like and is also the version used by most content creators and specificaly Mead whose comic, based on trashsavage's greentext, ignited her star.
So as you can see Skye is mostly agreed upon version, but adding (e) is more of a meme and signifies the person using this version is from /trash/ as outsiders don't know the history behind vixen's discovery and characterisation.

Writing is hard. Writing fics for this community is even harder. As cool as the people here are, the most involved tend to be invested in only a handful of characters and situations, namely Wildehopps or anything to do with Nick and Judy. It's a struggle to get people interested in something they really aren't interested in.

Kind of a disappointment really, probably the only "cuck" fic that was even remotely good, simply because it didn't start out as Nick in love with Judy, Judy isn't trying to lead on Nick (even if she has feelings for him but is scared of romance) and knows she is starting to push how much help she allows herself to get from Nick, and the kids were going to eventually ask if Nick was their "dad".
The only Zootopia fic they have left on their account is "We're Something", which was a sort of cute thing where Nick and Judy talk about Nick's pasts relationships.

From one writefag to any others that may be around:
This part of the story I'm writing is first-person present perspective. I (as the 1st person character) have a large amount of information to bestow upon another character, and consequently the reader at the same time. I was initially going to use dialogue, but reading it aloud and in my head, I'm having second thoughts and wondering if I should try to exposit the information in another way.
Instead of "So here's what happened last week, Judy..."
it would be presented as: So I tell her everything. This and that happened, and so on, so forth.

Do not over burden yourself to the point of ignoring real life.
>>7594614
Yeah, I know, I know...
I guess I could condense that post into a single question: generally, while in 1st person present, is lots of information better presented as dialogue or as 1st person narration?

I feel the "Nick takes it easy" trope is somewhat wrong- Nick was essentially his own employer. He was the one deciding to get up everyday, figure out different hustles (I doubt the Pawpsicle hustle was his only one), find out good spots and good times to sell his products. He says he knows everyone, and you don't get that knowledge just by doing the same thing everyday. He knows routes for illegal jobs and knows very well legal loopholes.
I wouldn't say Nick is a workaholic, but he definitely doesn't seem like someone who would take it easy to me.
>>7594973
QT Lynx and QT Wolf having a sweet dinner date together at BugBurga WHEN?
>>7594510
Take your pick, there is so many tropes.
Family's don't want them together/won't accept them. Nick gives up and figures Judy still having a family is more important then his love.
Nick doesn't believe he is good enough for her, and breaks it off. Or Judy herself think that she has pushed him forward to much, and figures stopping it now can keep them at least at friendly terms.
Or a work environment that doesn't support them, and starts to hinder everything they do as long as they are involved. Thus they break it off.
Or a society that treats them as pariah (even though word of god, has told us inter-relations is even more progressive then even are world.) And Nick and/or Judy doesn't want to continue it any more, since they don't want the other to hurt.
Even though we see that Judy starts to trust in Nick, by the end of the movie, she still quite possibly needs to get over preconceptions that have been installed in her at such a young age.
She might accuse him of something, and not trust him when he needed it the most. Devastated that Judy harmed him once again, he cuts ties with her. But this time for good.
I am sure there are a number of others, but my brain is failing me.
And of course we can have the tried and true meme monster it has become. Judy is a terrible/uncontrollable/blackout drunk that end's up cheating on him. And Nick grows a back bone and abandons her, due to her actions.
>>7591196
You have a great handle on Marty's voice, Boney. I really enjoyed this.
Also:
>"I was going to ask if you had plans for lunch, but I see now that you're craving mutton."

Would love to see a continuation if you ever feel the need. Feels slightly incomplete with just the two chapters.
>>7594981
>reinventing the wheel
Just realized that I used this saying wrong. I'm sure you get what I mean
>>7594982
It's a small expectation/meme at this point. If you look back at some of the first fanfic's that ever came out. Nick is CONSTANTLY a massively lazy and shiftless hack of a fox. That is pretty much riding off the tail of Judy.
It's to the "flat what" stage with some of the ones I have read.

I think I get it, though honestly my style of drawing doesn't bother me at all, the only thing that I dislike about my art, really, is how inconsistent the quality of it is.
Like what >>7591267 said earlier in the thread, it just fluctuates too much from pic to pic. from whether I choose to fill noses in completely or leave them as an outline, or even how cheeks look. I believe I've drawn RF's raccoon at least five different looking ways because of how I do the cheeks on each pic being so vastly different from the pics previous to them.
>>7594982
Yeah, I thought it would change with the Finnick and Nick comic coming out, but I still haven't seen a scan of it. By it, Nick seems to be pretty hardworking, competing head to head with Finnick for clients and even getting involved with Mr. Big.
People also forget Nick was also the best of his class like Judy, but I guess making him just as competent as her is boring, Nick has to be weaker, dumber and lazier than Judy while saying funny jokes.

>Or Judy herself think that she has pushed him forward to much, and figures stopping it now can keep them at least at friendly terms.
I'd honestly be curious to see an exploration of something like this, or at least where Judy is the one that is fearful of starting a relationship for whatever reason. She had already hurt him once, lost him for three months, it wouldn't be a stretch that she could be scared of hurting him again. Maybe she could even make herself think that she is lucky that Nick forgave her and wants to be her friend, that there is no way that he could have feelings for the bunny that betrayed his trust.
>She might accuse him of something, and not trust him when he needed it the most. Devastated that Judy harmed him once again, he cuts ties with her. But this time for good.
This feels like the most possible in my eyes; not to downplay the trust she showed at the end of the movie with the whole bite scene but Nick and Judy discussed that, or at least planned it. Judy already shows that she just won't slow down, it wouldn't be out there if she accused Nick without really thinking about it, still having those years long bias held within her that she tries to consciously combat.
>Judy is a terrible/uncontrollable/blackout drunk that end's up cheating on him.
I remember there was a conversation of how this would logically happen, and someone figured that it would be funny if Judy basically overestimated her drinking ability and was overconfident in her moral compass, that the sheer thought of cheating on Nick simply doesn't cross her mind. Leaving her vulnerable to making a mistake while drunk.

Ya that's how it would generally go, Judy is just not someone that would EVER willingly cheat on Nick.
She would never want to betray the trust he has in her, and which she has in him.
And only through something she COULD have controlled (but didn't, as you already stated) does she finally realize the damage she has done.

That happens after the streetfight, obviously.
The little faggots would probably fuck right there in the alleyway.
>>7595744
I really like the idea of Nick just being a Cha/Wis build.
>>7595899
Take a look at his uniform - the golden thing is called aiguillette, which means he graduated with honours. This implies either the very first or close to it (Judy wore it too for graduation)

Pretty sure Nick just took Judy's valedictorian award, erased her name and added his. No one will ever know.
