Craving non-food stuff is something that happens IRL. It's called pica, and it is especially common with pregnant women.

Also, I think you were asking about time skips at some point and I meant to get back to you about that. I think doing a bunch of timeskips would work either if you're doing a montage (which would mean the entire period being skipped through would get covered pretty quickly), or if you want to do it kind of like a sitcom, with a bunch of standalone but loosely connected stories. If that isn't what you're going for then I would say don't try to force the time skips, just keep writing until you run out of stuff to write and then jump forward to a place where there's more to write about.

If not directly writing an SCP article, I think the /trash/ collective could at least come up with some good ideas.

Some general rules of thumbs for making (good) SCP ideas:
>it has to be weird
>it has to possess a notable gimmick/draw/twist
>it shouldn't "just kill people", especially if there's no discernible reason
>a traceable, storied history can add a lot of depth
>having a nature that makes it difficult to contain will generally make it more interesting (unless it randomly teleports around or causes people to want to touch it, which are both considered poor gimmicks)
>if it's friendly, making it unsettling (like Mal-O!) will make it fit in more (although this isn't required, it will make people happier with you)

For writing:

I'm gonna be a grinch here and just say I think side characters are always too eager to accept not just Mal0's existence but the fact that Anon is in love with her. Real world relations, of a secular and mundane nature, can seriously shock people and fuck over their worldview for the rest of their lives. Look at things like Gulf of Tonkin, MKUltra, and the Contra affair; Even people who weren't alive when it happened are shaken by it. Finding out monsters are real, as well as shit like MIBs, is even greater in scope than all of that. As if that wasn't enough, it's made personal by the fact that your friend, cousin, or son is not only in love with a scary monster, but also knocked her up. Finding out that he's gay, a tranny, or something like that is peanuts in the same way something like the revelation of MKUltra is dwarfed by the revelation of the supernatural. The cherry on top is finding out that now you share genes with a REAL MONSTER. The terrifying new reality you have discovered can never be denied because it is a part of your family. This is the kind of thing that turns normal people into Francis E. Dec.
