We had thought the main character could be the wolf to due it seeming like wolves are most generic/generally loved, with the tiger being one of the main romance options

This is actually really nice, because for a while we were concerned on how to write a few of the characters.

Would you like potential love interests to tag along with you in your party for fights, or would you like them to be main characters that don't necessarily fight along side you?

think like option 1 as a FF game where you have multiple party members for battle, and 2 something like Undertale where the characters are extremely important and show up really often, but don't follow you into battle.
We were kinda think option 2 because it might work better with the combat system
