It's always Judy who dies and never Nick, even though Nick dying has more potential for character development.

We already know what will happen to Nick if Judy dies-- he will become cold and cynical again and probably drop out of the police force, or at least be heavily tempted to. It would just be regression for his character because his old view that everything good and innocent in this world eventually gets snuffed out would be re-validated.

If Nick died, it would be a major loss of innocence for Judy and we'd see a fundamental transformation in her character. She would go from being sweet and optimistic Judy to being the hardened Officer Hopps.

Which is fair, I think the same thing. For the most part, Nick (along with most mammals) look mostly like their feral counterparts. Judy and bunnies have much more humanoid like features strangely enough.

We've already seen how Nick would be without Judy. He's a cynical asshole who's only in it for himself. He lost his innocence when he was just a pup, regained his sense of morality and purpose because of Judy. If he loses Judy he regresses backwards to what he was before.

Judy never lost her innocence. She's unspoiled and hasn't experienced personal tragedy and trauma the way Nick has. Nick dying would be traumatic for her because out of everyone in Zootopia, he's the one person she cares most dearly about. It would be more interesting to see a story about Judy going through trauma and the transformation that comes with it, because unlike with Nick it's something we didn't see in the movie.

So, basically JiD but now we put the gritty and OOC angry veteran on Judy side, we add a new recruit Dominic Wilde, cousin or something kid of Nick.

I mean sure go make a 30 pages comic about it, I don't get why people enjoyed it so much when it barely even came close to being Zootopia aside from direct mention to stuff from the movie.

Judy who loses Nick would at first seem like a 'tough but fair' chief of police. Second fox cop comes in, gets parking duty.

Judy takes him aside and explains its what everyone goes through, she won't hold back any punches, and if he gives it his all, he'll be on real cases in no time.

She treats everyone respectfully and knows everyone enough to have a friendly, if short, conversation.

And in private, she hates every single one of those fuckfaced idiots. Her job is to work around their incompetence. Their insipid personal lives make them weaker, worse officers, and they have nothing holding them back. Why the hell should a tiger, a born predator killing machine, need a week leave after he got into a fight with a drunk? Post traumatic stress disorder sounds like an excuse to her.

But she keeps it bottled up. She knows not to speak her mind after the press conference.

While I agree with the first part, I always have trouble with thinking what would happen to Nick should he lose Judy. Entirely possible, although it would still be a huge blow to Nick's character development. At the end of the movie Judy is the bright light at the center of Nick's world who inspires him to better himself. Rip Judy away from Nick and he would find himself torn between whether to keep pushing on and bettering himself, or to slide back into his old self.

Judy is essentially a conduit who accelerates Nick's journey towards self betterment. He doesn't necessarily stop bettering himself if he loses her, but it would pull open old wounds and make his growth as a person that much harder.

Because Judy is young and innocent, her ways are not as firmly set as Nick's. The way she'd deal with the traumatic experience of losing Nick is a lot less predictable, because we haven't seen her deal with trauma before. She's more of a blank and I think there's a lot more potential there.

Perhaps that is the very reason why so few people want to write about Judy losing Nick-- Nick is easy to write when he loses Judy, since his reaction is pretty easy to predict. I think content creators are scared of having to define a part of Judy's character that we haven't seen before because that means taking more risks and speculating about her character in ways they don't have to with Nick.

Maybe Judy would consider quitting but knew Nick wouldn't want her to give up her dream because of him, but at the same time she would be a different person. I'll be getting into this a bit for TT, for what that's worth. Agree that it's worth exploring how they solve these problems. The climate engineering is ambitious, and probably has knock-on effects.

One of my favorite defects of Judy is her inability to not be turnt to 11 when the situation calls for, like, a 3 or a 4. I wish we saw more of that in fics, because her going overboard is funny.
Really, she's only in her element when everything is at its most dire. Otherwise most of her problems stem from her.

Because then what is the point? The start of the series had at least some Zootopia related stuff with Nick forcing July to use spray or people hating a fox chief, but then it went completely off with retarded stuff.

Even other series try to at least keep what was interesting of Zootopia in their fanworks, JiD couldn't have quirky interactions because it replaced Nick with veteran cutout and killed off Judy, fair enough, it could have discrimination or limits of each species, nope Judy died with a lot of other mammals on some srsbsns stuff, it could have the problem of many species living together, which it did in the start but by the end it became just "the media did it" and basically made Zootopia world into a cold war shit with snakes and most citizens of it having their opinions completely swayed every time someone says "maybe preds are EVUL?" on TV because that's basically what happens with missing mammal and chief wilde and there is no sign of the city changing.

They were going to hit that other train unless they went fast enough to dodge it with Judy changing the tracks last moment.
