A big part of why Stevens was interested in Canidae in the first place was that she was the enemy. He had very aggressive sexual overtones and his lust was blended with antagonism. You need to remember this for Judy: always energetic, she contrasts well with Nick (and also Fangmeyer for that regard). However she is probably turbovirgin, since she was so career-focused, giving Nick the upper hand in this case. But both Nick and Judy have problems with expressing their feelings, the first for hiding behind a mask for twenty years, the second for inexperience. And here comes Fangmeyer.
And think about it: you can do knotfucking and knotting in the same chapter like this.
