It's hard to tell since she just woke up and things have only progressed 2 or 3 pages since then. After her conversation with the King, her inner monologue (even with the flip-flop in ideas), and the fact she's willing to publicly reveal herself, you'd think she'd content with her state now. the reason why a lot of people read two kinds is for the human X anthro romances or for the cheesecake saying that one of the characters that has been sexualized a lot over the comic's life time and is part of one of the bigger ships was "a dude the whole time lol" just kind of ruins it for some people

I'm assuming you already know about her backstory with the whole shattered soul thing so I'll skip that bit.

As the story has gone on, she's been bouncing off various people that conflict with her internal ideology that feminine means weak (the King telling her she can do both, her own feelings for Keith), painting a picture that this was something she needed to get over rather than embrace.

Then it reached a head when she comes into contact with her younger/inner self. Young Natani pulls an Inception by more or less telling her that that ideology isn't even her own. It's just a by product of having her soul linked with her brother who always subconsciously saw her as the little sister that needed protecting which in turn formed the idea in her head that feminine was weak and needed to be avoided in all forms. Once again, this implied that this "I am male" thing she's been trying to stick with has been detrimental and something she needs to get past in order to move on.

Then come next page, Young Natani suddenly goes "Well actually, you've been like this since before you got soul-linked, so never mind! You can wake up now!"

It just feels like a last second copout to keep from pissing off the Tumblrbabies infesting the forums rather that proper character development

She acted male in order to join the assassin's guild and then she had her soul shattered during their one of their first assignments. Unless someone has that side story book that talks about the other characters (since we're too cheap or are poorfags to get it), we don't know much as to how she behave in the past. I can understand you're supporting what that younger Natani said of her being a tomboy since birth. But you mention that she has to act as a man to join the assassin guild which is understandable since she has to fit in the group so they wouldn't try to kick her out if they found if she's a woman. It's that after her soul shattered and a spell replacing parts of it with Zen's that it cause her to want people to see her as a man and probably why she starts being a tomboy than acting as one. Again, we don't know much about her past before unless someone has the book and can scan it.

My point being that Tom adding in the twist she wanted to be seen and acted like a male before the soul-shatter isn't some bullshit than has a consistency issue, it does not have one because there was nothing to say that's not how Natani was previously.

After Natani's soul-shatter, she believed she IS male, rather than her WANTING TO BE SEEN as male like young Natani implied. This coupled onto the fact that she is more open to acting feminine like making out with Keith in front of the group shows that she really has changed as a character because of the twist. It wasn't a copout to "appease the tumblr-babies", it was showing that she didn't need to hide her acting feminine even if she still wants to be seen as, and act like a guy. After all, just because most of you anons are dudes doesn't necessarily mean you don't act feminine once in a while.

First off, I don't care if she appeased Tumblr or the fans. That Anon was just implying that because of those three pages.

Second, I don't have a problem with her acting and be seen as a male before the soul-shattering part. My problem is that we don't know if Natani was a TOMBOY during her early life before wanting to join the guild. I can accept the fact she become a tomboy after her soul was repair because of her believing she's a man, but having this younger self telling her that she cut her hair because she wanted to and is just dumb, especially with that page that shows her cutting it after Zen told her that he wants to protect her, and if she show any masculine feelings before the guild. That's what irks me about it because she could have just cut her hair anytime. Its as if she needs approval from her brother to do it. I hope that the side comic could bring clarity about it, but I could be wrong.

In the end, I'm at least glad that her internal struggle is over (hopefully) and Tom can just focus more on the main story and conflict of the comic so it can end because this comic is mediocre at best.

No, Natani's memories aren't false, the way she interprets them is.
